24.01.2022 Holiday Program Booked OUT Have a great Christmas everyoneHoliday Program Booked OUT Have a great Christmas everyone

24.01.2022 A reminder to all that if you live within metropolitan Melbourne or Mitchell Shire, you must wear a face covering whenever you leave your home, unless an except...ion applies. A face covering needs to cover both your nose and mouth. It could be a face mask or shield. With regard to wearing a mask during SPORTING ACTIVITY, the DHHS website states the following exemptions: - Professional sportspeople when training or competing. - When the individual is doing any exercise or physical activity where they are out of breath or puffing; examples include jogging or running but not walking. You must have a face covering on you and wear it when you finish exercising. REMEMBER THAT WHENEVER YOU LEAVE YOUR HOME YOU ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A FACE COVERING THAT COVERS BOTH YOUR NOSE AND MOUTH. Similarly, if you live outside metropolitan Melbourne or Mitchell Shire and must travel inside these areas, for necessary goods and services, medical care and caregiving, or study or work, you MUST WEAR A FACE COVERING. Please visit the DHHS website for complete information around this new condition that came into force at midnight 22 July night. https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au//face-coverings-1159pm-wednesd #staysafe #equestrianvictoria

23.01.2022 Zoe has outgrown our superstar eventing galloway so we are looking for a new home. Local/vic only buyers at this time as we love this horse and will not sell si...ght unseen. Linbil Orbit 14.1hh, 9 year old, welsh cob gelding In the past 2 years he has been out to PC, clinics, interschool & open/EA competitions. Some recent results include: 2019 Spring HT Ev80 5th 2019 Werribee PC HT Grade 3 2nd 2020 Ballarat Hickstead Ev80 2nd All with a 14yo rider new to eventing. Previously trained by Linda Williams, in 2017 as a 6yo Orbit won 1st place at many EV80 HT including Geelong, Tonibuk and Ballarat. Orbit is fancy on the flat, educated to Novice level. He loves jumping, has no issues XC with water, ditches etc and loves a gallop around the paddock. We would love him to go to an eventing home or to a family who will do lots of different activities with him as he would get bored in a purely dressage scenario. He would suit a smaller adult/teen or experienced younger rider but is not a beginners horse or first pony. Whilst he is heaps of fun and easy to do everything with, he is spunky with a big personality. Located Mornington Peninsula VIC PM or call Fiona 0438710078 POA See more

14.01.2022 A very happy girl. She had best day today and was counting down in the car to the next time she rides

14.01.2022 One of our very talented students created these of our beautiful horses and riders.

13.01.2022 Never be jealous of others for the work you haven’t put in . Sometimes I think people don’t realise just how much work it takes to have one horse, let alone a... team of horses fit and ready for competition. The amount of work, dedication, discipline and consistency isn’t for everyone and that’s totally fine! Some days I feel like it’s not for me either but I remind myself of my goals and I make myself get on with it. Every day and every training session counts, especially at the business end of the season. Consistency is key, you have to be out there every day, not a few days a week or when you feel like it but putting in the work every single day. Another point I think is important is not comparing your progress to someone else’s. Even within the same level, every competitor is at a different stage of their journey. There could be someone making their first attempt vs someone who is incredibly experienced. The more you go on, the more you realise what you don’t know, the more you appreciate the others, the few, out there competing alongside of you and just how hard it really is. We can’t all win at the same time, we all have our turn at the top eventually when you have put in the extra work and it begins to go your way. Until then, manage your expectations, appreciate your other competitors and learn as much as you can every time you are in the ring. Time in the ring is limited and you have to put countless hours in to be there. You have to grind, you have to bring your best every day. You have to earn that five minutes in the ring for it to go your way. Be honest, make no excuses and give it your all until one day, you get the results back reflective of the work you have put in over the years

13.01.2022 Sometimes just the littles things that make our day . Unfortunately no pot of gold

13.01.2022 Making it look small and easy

12.01.2022 WEDNESDAY 5 AUGUST 2020 STAGE 3 REGIONAL VICTORIA & STAGE 4 METROPOLITAN MELBOURNE Equestrian Victoria is still awaiting formal government advice re travel ...and care for horses under COVID-19 Stage 3 and Stage 4 Restrictions. In the event you are stopped whilst travelling to care for your horse(s) please advise the relevant authorities that: Equestrian Victoria advises that you have a positive obligation under the Section 9 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1986 to ensure your animals are fed, watered, exercised and sheltered". We also recommend you carry both your horse registration papers and any documentation related to agistment with you when travelling. We will provide an update as soon as we have formal advice from the Victorian Government. 11.01.2022 The most amazing sunset tonight

11.01.2022 FEI OUTLAW WHISKER TRIMMING The FEI have outlawed trimming the whiskers of competition horses in a ruling that will begin in July 2021. Horses are not allowed t...o compete in any FEI competitions internationally if "the horse’s sensory hairs have been clipped and/or shaven or in any other way removed unless individual sensory hairs have been removed by a veterinarian to prevent pain or discomfort for the horse. However trimming for veterinary reasons is exempt from this ruling. The horse's whiskers, or vibrissae, are so sensitive to vibration and changes in air current they can instantly inform the horse about his environment for example helping him avoid injury by detecting nearby objects, differentiating between different textures, judging wind direction and identifying food. The horse has a blind spot beneath his muzzle and so his whiskers are a vital aid to his vision. From the horse’s point of view, removing these whiskers reduces his spatial awareness and leaves him partially handicapped. We in the UK are still very backward in many aspects of horse welfare and it’s time for us to catch up, we should have made this ruling long ago... I have to say I didn't think we'd see this coming from the FEI first, it is amazing news!

11.01.2022 Interschool State Championships have been postponed please see announcement https://www.vic.equestrian.org.au//state-emergency-declare

10.01.2022 COVID-19 RELEASE ADDITIONAL UPDATE TO STAGE 4 RESTRICTIONS Statement as at 9 August 2020 Equestrian Victoria continues to advocate on behalf of our members and ...provide appropriate advice on a regular basis. We have a further update as to Stage 4 Restrictions as released by DHHS today. We wish to make it very clear that RECREATIONAL horse riding under Stage 4 restrictions remains a prohibited activity. However, you CAN continue to care for your horse, including the provision of EXERCISE, under ANIMAL WELFARE GROUNDS, on the property where the horse is kept, unless it is IMPOSSIBLE to do so, but floating of horses to third party locations is prohibited. The provision of EXERCISE is for the WELFARE of the horse, and NOT as a recreational activity. There are also some other important changes to community sport under the latest restrictions, including High Performance and Professional Sport which may apply to many of you who are Equestrian Victoria members. COMMUNITY SPORT Under Stage 4 restrictions in metropolitan Melbourne, all community sport and recreation organisations must close their facilities. HIGH PERFORMANCE / PROFESSIONAL SPORT There are updated guidelines for the high performance and professional sport sector - if you operate within this sector, please read this guidance note carefully to understand your responsibilities under the latest restrictions: https://sport.vic.gov.au//return-to-play-for-high-performa Under Stage 4 restrictions in metropolitan Melbourne, high performance and professional athletes are permitted to train but competition is not allowed. Under Stage 3 restrictions in regional Victoria, both training and competition is permitted, where venues and organisations have a compliant risk management plan in place. For high performance and professional sport, the new Chief Health Officer Directions for those operating under Stage 4 restrictions in metropolitan Melbourne includes: advice for athletes to train at home and minimise travel where possible new restrictions on contact training the requirement to have a COVIDSafe Plan the requirement to complete a Permitted Worker Permit for every athlete and essential employee travelling to the worksite. In order to qualify under high performance exemption, you must be an Equestrian Victoria Member and you need to complete the form, https://www.business.vic.gov.au//c/permitted-worker-scheme AND email to: [email protected] DHHS https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/sport-and-exercise-metropolitan DHHS CORONOVIRUS HOTLINE 1800 675 398 RSPCA https://kb.rspca.org.au//how-can-i-ensure-my-horses-welfa/ SPORTS AND RECREATION VICTORIA HIGH PERFORMANCE https://sport.vic.gov.au//return-to-play-for-high-performa This is a changing environment across every aspect of our lives, and we thank you for your patience. 04.01.2022 Albie surprising us all. First time under saddle.

04.01.2022 EDITED WITH AN ADDITION: We are still awaiting formal advice from the Government, in particular around Stage 4 restrictions, but in the meantime, rest assur...ed that you can continue to care and exercise your horse - including travelling to where your horse is kept, if that is outside a 5km radius. Equestrian Victoria will provide a downloadable document in the event you may be stopped when travelling to care or exercise your horse. Vets, farriers and other equine professionals involved in the care and welfare of your horse will also still be allowed. Stage 3 Restrictions for regional Victoria come into effect at 11:59pm on Wednesday evening also, and will largely mirror the Stage 3 Restrictions put in place recently for Melbourne and Mitchell Shire posted on 9 July. You can view those here. https://www.vic.equestrian.org.au//important-update-regard We will continue to represent the membership and request any exemptions to the current Covid-19 restrictions, to ensure our membership is able to provide appropriate care to their equine friends. As you can probably understand, this is a very busy time for the Government, and there are a lot of competing priorities. Be patient, but know that you can continue to care for your horse. #staysafe #equestrianvictoria #lovethehorse

03.01.2022 Happy Easter everyone. From all of us at Blamcent Park we hope you are safe and well. We are all looking forward to when we can see your happy faces again. The horses are enjoying the holiday. Stay healthy

02.01.2022 CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATE FROM EQUESTRIAN VICTORIA Equestrian Victoria (EV) is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our members and our community.... This is paramount to everything we do. As you will be aware, EV has been monitoring the rapidly changing situation around Coronavirus (Covid-19). As a result, Equestrian Victoria regrets to advise that we have no choice but to cancel the following Equestrian Victoria events, effective immediately: 1. PSI Dressage and Jumping with the Stars 19 to 21 March 2020 2. Jumping Victoria State Titles 26 to 29 March 2020 We will continue to follow governmental guidelines and will communicate a decision regarding the Leader Equine Victorian Interschool Equestrian State Championships (2 to 6 April 2020) in the near future. The Board and management of Equestrian Victoria will meet on Wednesday 18 March to clarify the way forward for our members, officials, sponsors, traders and volunteers with regards to the two cancelled events with a communication scheduled for 20 March 2020. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our membership and broader community for their continued support and emphasise that as you have supported us, we look to support you. At the same time, we would also like to encourage our community to remain vigilant. Equestrian clubs should operate as normal until otherwise advised. Club and event organisers should encourage good hygiene practices by participants at their events and where possible provide an environment that supports this outcome. Resources are available for download from the DHHS website, including printable posters and factsheets on practicing good hygiene that may help clubs and event organisers. EV members are encouraged to act responsibly by not attending events or other equestrian activities if: - you feel unwell, or are showing symptoms such as runny nose, fever, cough, sore throat or breathing difficulties; and/or - you have been in close contact with someone who has coronavirus disease (COVID-19) If you have come into contact with someone who has the virus or you are concerned you may be infected, please call the Coronavirus Hotline on 1800 675 398. 01.01.2022 THE REAL RULES OF DRESSAGE 1. If you really want to get better at dressage, take it up at an earlier age - and grow an extra 3 inches of leg. 2. A dressage tes...t is a test of your skill against another competitor's luck. 3. Dressage is about achieving a harmonious working relationship with your horse, whose only idea of harmony is eating grass in a field with his buddies. 4. If you want to end a drought or dry spell, wear a new jacket and hat to an outdoor arena. 5. Untalented, difficult, aggressive horses have robust health, good hocks and long lives. 6. Talented tractable horses are accident prone and have OCD lesions. 7. You will ride the best test of your entire life just prior to being disqualified for not wearing your gloves. 8. Never keep more than 300 separate thoughts in your head before a test. 9. Never keep less than another 300 separate thoughts in your head during a test. 10. Horses do not improve their paces because you are wearing expensive German breeches. 11. If you chose a disco theme for your dressage to music test then the judge will be more than 90 years of age and Swiss. 12. The less skilled the rider, the more likely they are to share their critique of your test. 13. If you are considering the services of a horse clairvoyant to help you with training then you have reached the point of total desperation - try the German breeches. 14.Your horse has never heard of Podhajsky, let alone read the book. 15. No matter how badly you ride a test, it is always possible to ride a worse one. 16. If it ain't broke, try shifting your position and it will be. 17. Judges only suffer from temporary blindness (or kindness) when they are judging someone else's test. 18. If you fall off your horse in the arena you will have paid to have the test videoed. 19. If you are feeling confident before a show then three of the USET dressage team will turn up to give their young horses some "experience." 20. Your horse will perform its best piaffe ever when you ask for extended canter. 22. Since runs of bad competitions come in groups of three, the fourth competition is actually the beginning of the next group of three. 23. No one cheats at dressage because no one has worked out how to do it. 24. It is surprisingly easy to end a test with a perfect square halt once you have scored a four for every other movement. 25. The result of an expensive lesson from a top pro is that you will stop believing in that tiny piece of innate ability that was holding your riding together. 26. Remember when buying a dressage horse advertised as "needs experienced competitive rider" this really means "needs the skills of Isabelle Werth just to stay on board." 27. If you think your test was better than someone else's, it probably wasn't. 28. If you pay 60,000 for an imported WB, you will be beaten in First Level 4 by a Quarter Horse. 29. Clinics given by someone with an interesting accent are not necessarily superior to those given by the homegirl. 30. If you go to the expense of raising an expensive WB foal, he will have a talent for jumping and no walk worth talking about. **Author unknown
