25.01.2022 Today through a coordinated effort from two friends and a volunteer we were able to get emergency food to a man living in his car. Mark* hadn’t eaten since a kind stranger bought him a meal yesterday. His food before then was days earlier and he didn’t have any other options for getting any food today so he reached out to us. Within an hour another stranger met with Mark and gave him some bags of food. He was extremely grateful though his pride was bruised that he had to ask ...Continue reading
25.01.2022 Today, thanks to your help and support we donated 40 new sleeping bags and a pile of clean blankets and doonas to our friends on the streets, and 60 new sleeping bags to those still affected by the bushfire crisis. A huge thank you to John and John from St Vincent De Paul for picking up our donations and getting them out there, and to Emma for being the amazing conduit for our fire relief efforts in Gippsland. Without all of you none of this can happen. Thank you all so much

23.01.2022 We’re absolutely thrilled to help the Avalon Centre with a donation of life saving sleeping bags for their vans this winter. Every single one of our bags helps keep a person on the street alive during winter. Thanks so much to Debbie Holmes from Avalon and Lyle Chasemore from Rotary for helping us make this happen. If you would like to donate and help save lives please see our pinned post for more details
22.01.2022 What an incredible honour to be a Victorian finalist for the 2021 Australian of the Year Awards! We’ve been through quite the year starting from the very first day of January 2020 helping with the Victorian bushfire crisis, to present day where we’re still assisting with the Melboune covid pandemic lockdown, and everything in between. I’m so excited to be joining 15 other nominees to celebrate our amazing nation on 27 October at the 2021 VIC #AusoftheYear Awards! ... Go to @AustralianoftheYear on Facebook at 6.30pm (AEDT) for a live stream link. Thank you to everyone who nominated me. Please make sure you’re watching the 2021 VIC Australian of the Year Awards on 27 October to celebrate with me and find out who the recipients are. #WereAllPartOfTheStory #AusoftheYear #ReflectRespectCelebrate
22.01.2022 We’re delivering a very special sleeping bag today. We were approached by a Mum who has a young child with autism. Her daughter had been invited to go on a special camp and the fees were covered, however the Mum had no idea how she would be able to afford a sleeping bag let alone all the other things kids need on that very extensive camp list. Of course, we were happy to help! We not only supplied a brand new sleeping bag but all of the other items kiddo needed for her camp too! We hope you have an amazing time at camp, Katie. We’re in floods of tears here just knowing how happy your beautiful Mama is that you get to experience the excitement and wonder of camp!
21.01.2022 It's almost 1am and I can't sleep. Tonight I went to a rundown boarded up rat infested old home that hadn't seen human life since 1983. There was so much debris and rubbish outside you could hardly see the door. There were no lights on inside, I doubt the electricity had been switched back on since the last tenants vacated 35 years ago. Every window was boarded up and it looked frightening. It was a hovel. Dirty, unsafe, freezing, cold, damp, mouldy, dilapidated, dark and inf...Continue reading

20.01.2022 The devastating effects of the Victorian bushfires are still being felt and we still urgently need items to support those affected. We’re continuing to work with relief centres all across Victoria and a call has been put out for the following items. Please note we can only accept new unused items ... If you can assist please drop the items off at our Op Shop The Kala Space. Details below. Or please give to our bushfire relief fund and we will purchase the items on your behalf. All Donations over $2 are tax deductible https://www.nhcollective.org.au/nhc-bushfire-relief/ Some people are only just able to return to their homes now and are only just seeing the devastating loss of everything they own. This is far from over and we need to continue supporting people for as long as they need us.

17.01.2022 These incredible drawings were created by 15 year old Jasmyn as part of a 72 portrait collection she sold to raise funds for our charity. Jasmyn managed to raise $935 for us over the past two months by selling her artwork and we are absolutely blown away by her talent and generosity. I had a chat to Jasmyn’s Mum last night and told her how proud we are of Jasmyn and how thrilled we are that she has chosen to support us. ... Jasmyn is one incredibly talented girl and we’re beyond thrilled to have her support. The world is in safe hands with kids like Jasmyn looking out for those needing support. 16.01.2022 A huge thank you to the students at Brighton Grammar School for this incredible fundraising effort. These incredible young people raised $1850 for us which will see an incredible end to our 2019 sleeping bag campaign. We can’t wait to tally up our final total. We wish we didn’t have to give these bags out and we wish everyone had a warm bed to sleep in at night but the sad fact is many people don’t have a home to go to and don’t have a warm bed to sleep in.... These sleeping bags help keep people warm at night and help them stay alive during winter. Thanks so much for this incredible effort Brighton Grammar. We can’t wait to get these bags out there to those in need.
16.01.2022 We’re thrilled to send out 20 sleeping bags to Randa and the team at Reaching out in the inner west, as well as two cartons of toilet paper and two cartons of non perishable food to support their Monday evening meal service in Footscray. Working with incredible groups like this helps us make sure these sleeping bags are delivered directly to people in need as soon as they need them. If you’d like to help out and donate a sleeping bag please click the link below.... Every cent over $2 is fully tax deductible and we desperately need your support to help more people thid winter Www.sleepingbagsforhomelessness.org.au
16.01.2022 It’s not a house but it’s a start. Finding somewhere sheltered and safe to sleep is a priority for people experiencing homelessness. We give out thousands of sleeping bags out each year but imagine if a person had a sleeping bag inside one of these pods. Warm, safe, private, a place to store their belongings. Brilliant! *Neil Mitchell’s comment about people not wanting to get off the streets is complete and utter nonsense. His uninformed and completely incorrect views should never have be given any air time.
15.01.2022 We’re so very grateful to Jenny at the team at Box Hill ATO for running their recent soup fundraiser to help us purchase new sleeping bags for people experiencing homelessness. Together they raised almost $600 which is enough to keep 20 people warm during Melbourne’s cold winter days and nights. Events like this help us to continue getting those bags out on to the street where they’re needed most. ... Thank you so much Jenny and team. We’re absolutely thrilled to have your support.
15.01.2022 How absolutely amazing is this family! Kirstin has a broken ankle but it didn’t stop her from driving over and dropping off 20 gorgeous warm sleeping bags and 30 thermal beanies to us. Moon boot and all! Kirstin was joined by her amazing son Ashton, who, like his Mum, just wants to make sure everyone is safe and warm during this brutal Melbourne winter. Kirstie’s family have been huge supporters of our charity since they first heard about us and we can’t thank them enough fo...r their help and support over the years. If you’d like to donate toward a sleeping bag please go to Www.sleepingbagsforhomelessness.org.au Every donation over $2 is fully tax deductible and so very appreciated. Thank you all for the love you show to those you may never even meet
14.01.2022 Last week we were contacted by a family desperate for warm clothing. Homelessness has caused 6 family members to all to be crammed into a 2 bedroom over crowded home with not enough money to afford heating. We bought all family members new winter jackets plus some warm doonas and doona covers. We also bought ner underwear, socks, warm jumpers and a few other things needed for winter. Although we predominantly deliver sleeping bags to help those on the street stay warm during... winter, we also help out other people in need in a myriad of ways. Keeping little ones warm during the day and while they sleep at night is one of them If you would like to donate to help us keep families and people sleeping rough warm this winter please click on the link below. All donations over &2 are tax deductible. Please help us leave no one in need this winter. Www.sleepingbagsforhomelessness.org.au
12.01.2022 Gosh this makes us happy! A total of $5076 donated so far with this fundraiser and the bank deposits. That is 145 people who won’t have to freeze on the streets with nothing to keep them warm this winter. Thank you so very much to everyone who is donating. We do need more but this is just the most amazing start. Thank you all so very much

11.01.2022 Oh wow this is how we can raise enough money to buy Christmas presents for ALL of the families we support! It’s so easy. Please please PLEASE follow this link and post this (or use your own words!) into the comments. We might win $3000 to buy Christmas gifts for so many kids in need. Please follow the link and post this comment ... #GoDaddy I want to Nominate National Homeless Collective to win so they can buy Christmas presents for the 250 families relying on their support this year. Each year National Homeless Collective host a Christmas Day lunch for struggling families, but with Covid forcing lockdown to happen in Melbourne most families won’t be able to attend. This prize money will mean children can still have gifts on Christmas Day and won’t miss out on the magic of Christmas.
11.01.2022 It’s almost October and as usual Melbourne is still experiencing some freezing cold nights. SBFH runs between March and November, meaning we only have one more month to get as many life saving sleeping bags out there as we can. We do deliver bags year round but our promotion and call for bags will soon cease and our summer months support program will begin. So, we’re putting out a last call for life saving bags. These bags cost between $22-$70 depending on the need of the pe...rson. The average cost is $35. If you’d like to donate a sleeping bag to a person experiencing homelessness please help us by clicking the link below. One more bag is one less person suffering and one more life saved. Please see our pinned post for more details (Every donation over $2 is tax deductible and receipts are issued immediately by PayPal) Www.sleepingbagsforhomelessness/donate
10.01.2022 As the parent of a child with severely impacting autism this horrifies me. I’ve been shocked by many harrowing stories working in this sector but none have torn my heart apart like this has. This could be my son. But for the tooth and nail fight we have put in against all odds for his therapy and allied health care he would be this young man. This is what happens when we don’t fight for the rights of those left behind. ... I’m completely lost and I don’t know what to do except ask you to put add your voice to this. Share this. Talk about this and for the love of all things just please be in complete utter absolute rage about this like we are. I’m meeting with Samantha to fight with her to get this young man back into her care. For now, all I can ask is you is please share this and add your voice to our complete disbelief, heartache and absolute rage that people with autism are still being treated like this in our country. #notonmywatch https://www.dailymail.co.uk//Autistic-teen-forced-live-fil
10.01.2022 40 sleeping bags and 150 Black Packs delivered to Graham and the incredible team at Fr Bob Maguire foundation this week. We love the work this amazing team does and we’re super proud to support them once again!
10.01.2022 We desperately need more donations. Due to COVID-19 we’re so far behind our usual sleeping bag quota and I’m becoming increasingly worried that we just won’t make it to our target this year. It’s almost winter, and it’s already freezing out there. Without your help many of our homeless will die on the streets. Literally freezing to death. Please help us get a life saving sleeping bag to them before it’s too late. Our 2020 Sleeping bag campaign has officially launched and i...Continue reading
09.01.2022 Coronavirus has made us a little late getting started this year but we’re finally officially launching our 2020 Sleeping Bags for Homelessness drive. This is our 5th year providing life saving sub zero temperature rates sleeping bags for people experiencing homelessness right across the country. Last year we reached 1883 bags and this year we’re aiming for 2020 bags. Many people have been given shelter due to Coronavirus but as the coldest weather hits that shelter will expir...e and most people will be back on the streets. This is when we’re going to need those bags. There are still many people who haven’t been able to find shelter and we’re giving them as many sleeping bags as we can. But now we need your help. Our sleeping bags cost anywhere between $23 and $75, depending on the person’s circumstances. We average them out at $35 per bag. Even if you buy one bag you’re saving a life or at very least saving a person from a winter full of misery being left freezing cold on the streets. Please donate to our fundraiser below or to via our website link. All donations over $2 are fully tax deductible. Every cent goes toward providing sleeping bags for people experiencing homelessness. Please help us get to our target of 2020 life saving sleeping bags in 2020. We desperately need your help Please donate by clicking the link below or donating via our website Https://www.sleepingbagsforhomelessness.org.au

07.01.2022 Today we dropped 27 life saving double warm sleeping bags off to Deb from From Us 2 You Melbourne. This incredible woman organises Street feeds every week for people experiencing homelessness and hampers for people doing it really tough. Deb does this each week without fail, her only concern making sure people are fed, warm, and have someone to chat to. Our friends on the street in Melbourne just wouldn’t be the same without Deb. We are proud to support this incredible woman and her vital work for the people of our city.
06.01.2022 The line for our snags is out the door! We’re super excited to be charity partners for this incredible event, raising much needed funds for more life saving sleeping bags to help our friends sleeping rough stay warm this winter. 06.01.2022 Last minute and need a Xmas gift for someone still? We have got it covered for you. Why not buy a ticket or five and give that as a present. They may win this awesome Mustang and at the same time you will be helping our charity to help those less fortunate. Merry Christmas everyone xx
05.01.2022 How do you self-isolate when you’re experiencing homelessness? You can’t. Our community faces immense uncertainty and danger with the rapid spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), and these challenges are especially complex for the 24,000+ Victorians currently experiencing homelessness. To help us to immediately deliver critical, day-to-day relief to those living alongside us in need please consider donating to this crisis fund. ... $5.00 is all it takes for us to assemble and hand-deliver a backpack full of food, toiletries and essential sanitary items to someone sleeping rough, offering dignity, choice and crucial support. $30.00 is all it takes to for us to purchase and hand-deliver a high grade, weatherproof sleeping bag; ensuring protection against exposure and - all too often - death. As a 100% grassroots charity, with our major sources of fundraising (i.e. sausage sizzles and events) currently not possible due to health concerns and restrictions on large gatherings, your online donations are more powerful and effective than ever. Without your donation, our work will have to stop. It’s that simple. gofundme.com/covid19-homelessness-crisis-support
04.01.2022 This is amazing! With bank deposits and this fundraiser we have so far raised $3765! for brand new life saving sleeping bags in just one day! 03.01.2022 It’s not in our nature to post about negative operations from other charities but this story needs to be told. We see people freezing on the streets every night and had hoped this bus would help save lives. In four years not one single person has ever seen this bus operational yet they continue to fundraise for hundreds of thousands of $$... All for nothing. No one person experiencing homelessness has ever slept on this bus nor has any council ever granted them permission to operate. No one has ever seen it in operation. They don’t even have a fundraising license. The entire operation is a complete sham. https://www.dailymail.co.uk//Sleep-bus-built-Simon-Rowe-ho

We pass out sleeping bags year round to our friends on the street an...d we can’t thank these amazing students enough for their dedication and hard work in making sure we can continue our work. Because of Covid we couldn’t meet the students in person but we had a wonderful Zoom meeting where we were told the incredible final tally. Thank you so much.
