25.01.2022 If you’re looking for something to lift your spirits, here’s something we’ve been working on in the background with author and friend Rob McDonald. This is the inaugural session for QUEER WRITES SESSIONS - a series of filmed conversations between queer authors of Australia and New Zealand. It came about as an idea to return some positivity to our rainbow community when so much in the media was so relentlessly negative, thanks to people like JKR*wling and Tr*mp starting fires everywhere. Their impact has been devastating for so many. This first session is an incredible and inspirational conversation between 91 year old legendary writer Renee (who left school at the age of 12!) and the somewhat younger Lil O’Brien. Uplifting and joyful, when we need it most. Follow the links below. https://www.blarneybooks.com.au/session-1

25.01.2022 Have a look at this collaboration of spooks! My old friend and spooky storyteller Dmetri Kakmi has a new book of tales coming out, titled "The Door" - featuring artwork by our mate @Berit Hampel of Enchanted Woods Photography fame! The book will be out later this month! We're taking orders from all the brave souls who dare ...

24.01.2022 Port Fairy author Ganga Powell has TODAY released her latest book to the world! This is one of the most intriguing memoirs I have ever had the pleasure of reading, and it taught me much about India, about theosophy and most of all about Ganga herself. Copies will be available in-store very soon. Ganga's children's picture book, A Wallaby in My Garden, is a much-loved best-seller at Blarney Books! Ganga Ian Powell

16.01.2022 A superb review of a chilling collection of tales by Melbourne author Dmetri Kakmi. Now available at Blarney - contact me to reserve your copy (and a reminder that we offer free delivery to the local area, as usual). ‘Hauntingly powerful tales of absolute woe and horror. Not for the faint hearted.’ Aurealis magazine.

15.01.2022 Love it when the arts give each other a big warm hug like this. Brilliant thinking by the fab duo behind the Port Fairy Spring Music Festival xxx

14.01.2022 Here's a wonderfully macabre short story for your Tuesday morning, thanks to the ever-brilliant Margo Lanagan.

06.01.2022 Before you rush out and order the "first ever" graphic novel adaptation of The Great Gatsby, may we please direct you to the very excellent AND much earlier (2007) Australian graphic novel adaptation of The Great Gatsby by Nicki Greenberg! This graphic novel is seriously one of my favourite books on the planet! Nicki has well and truly earned her stripes and went on to produce an adaptation of Hamlet! If you can't find a new copy anywhere, hassle her publishers (@allenandunwin ) for a reprint! Naughty @simonandschuster for making such outrageous claims. @nicki_j_greenberg @allenandunwin #thegreatgatsby #graphicnovel #artists #australianartists #recommendedreading #booklove
