03.01.2022 Blaxlanders, Please take advantage of this cooler weather to maintain your homes, gardens and Bush Fire Survival plans as the fires encroaching on the Blue Moun...tains are far from over. Our crews continue to run 24/7 and were using the milder conditions to conduct numerous fire fighting operations in areas such as Blackheath and Bargo. This week alone weve sweated it out in +40 and shivered through 12 temperatures. Since the 1st of November weve racked up 5880 man-hours (and counting) in the field. This is just on the fireground and doesnt include the amount of time spent on trail preparing, administration and countless other tasks required to keep our station and crew operational. On that note, our brigade would like to thank our families, employers and community for allowing us to do this. It would be impossible without you. To our families: We are eternally grateful for your love and support. We know its hard when we come home, chuck our gear in the washing machine and promptly fall asleep after a few mouthfuls of a home-cooked meal. We love you. We miss you. Were always thinking of you. To our employers: Thank you for taking care of business whilst we battle it out elsewhere. Whether it be juggling rosters and staff to allow us time off; ensuring our roles dont pile up in our absence and keeping colleagues across our activities and wellbeing, every effort you make is appreciated. To our community: We are so grateful to live in an area such as ours. Its the main reason we do this. Your generous donations - whether sustenance or monetary - are very much appreciated. Waving when we drive by, cards and messages filled with well wishes - all of this boosts us up in ways we cant even describe. So, from all of here at Blaxland Rural Fire Brigade, although we are working 24/7 through Christmas, please know your support is the most precious gift of all. Keep vigilant, be safe and lets get through this together.

03.01.2022 No power in Glenbrook. 4:20pm and 6:25pm sessions cancelled ****UPDATE****. POWER RESTORED AT 7PM - 8:30pm session will run.

02.01.2022 As is the tradition every year, Blaxland Chamber of Commerce attended the memorial service at Glenbrook Bowling Club for Remembrance Day. The ceremony included ...a formal wreathlaying and was attended by local members of parliament and council, school students, as well as members of the general public. We then attended the last horsemans memorial at Blaxland to lay another wreath. With thanks to Hammer and Heels for the wreaths Hammer&heels and Trevor Lloyd for starting this wonderful tradition that I was honoured to be a part of. Panthers Glenbrook Bowling Club today its important to not only remember those who fought and died for our country and freedom but for those who continue to serve and also suffering ptsd from their service.
