25.01.2022 Term 1 has started with lots of excitement and smiles, let the wonderful learning opportunities for 2021 begin!! The highlight for our Tuesday children as they settle into Preschool has been the expressive art activities. The children have been exploring easel painting, play dough, water colour paints and collage activities to express their ideas, interests and knowledge. Take a look at some of their amazing creations

24.01.2022 Do you have access to river rocks in your community? We are needing some river rocks (approximately 10cm x 5cm or a little smaller or larger) for an upcoming secret project! If you would like to donate some, kindly drop them off at our preschool. Thank you!

24.01.2022 Excuse the mess- there is a lot of learning happening at Preschool today!

23.01.2022 Programs are being placed on the backburner indefinitely, but there are some great ways you can get your preschooler ready for the next stage. https://www.facebook.com/20895479504/posts/10159141846409505/?extid=p9USIb9vnxoWMNw4&d=n

22.01.2022 It’s great to see our children and families returning to Preschool and our room full of noise once again. Last Wednesday Blayney Preschool participated in National Simultaneous Storytime 2020. The children enjoyed listening to Emma Wiggle read the story Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas. Books are a great way for your child to get to know sounds, words and develop early literacy skills. Books encourage your child’s imagination and stimulate curiosity about the world, all the while helping to develop your child’s social and communication skills.

22.01.2022 Every child should have mud pies, grasshoppers, water bugs, tadpoles, frogs, mud turtles, elderberries, wild strawberries, acorns, chestnuts, trees to climb. Brooks to wade, water lilies, woodchucks, bats, bees, butterflies, various animals to pet, hayfields, pine-cones, rocks to roll, sand, snakes, huckleberries and hornets. And any child who has been deprived of these has been deprived of the best part of education. Luther Burbank (American horticulturalist and botanist, 1849-1926) How have you been connecting with nature during the school holidays?

20.01.2022 There is something so special about watching their little faces in awe of blowing a bubble (as well as the hurry in chasing after it!)

20.01.2022 We are very excited to announce the first section of our playground renovation is complete. The sensory garden, pathway and timber decking around our beautiful big tree is finished. We can’t wait for the children to explore their new outdoor space. Great job Country Life Building

18.01.2022 Some light reading during the school holiday break ... the power of play. Play is the purest expression of love. When enough people raise play to the status it deserves in our lives, we will find the world a better place Dr Stuart Brown

17.01.2022 It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by everything you’re hearing about COVID-19 right now. It’s understandable if your children are feeling anxious, too. Children might find it difficult to understand what they are seeing online or on TV or hearing from other people so they can be particularly vulnerable to feelings of anxiety, stress and sadness. But having an open, supportive discussion with your children can help them understand, cope and even make a positive contribution for others, (UNICEF, 2020). https://www.unicef.org.au//how-to-talk-to-your-children-ab

14.01.2022 We can all help to reduce the spread of viruses. Attached is a helpful video from the Australian Government Department of Health which outlines some hygiene practices we can all adopt. https://www.facebook.com/1816432988414928/posts/2907192372672312/?d=n

12.01.2022 Learning opportunities are all around us ...

11.01.2022 As an extension of learning, today we made scrambled eggs with cheese, parsley and chives. This project started a couple of weeks ago with the children making ‘spice mix’ with leaves, dirt and other natural items from their outside space. This progressed onto the use of a mortar and pestle in their play, grinding down the herbs with salt, recipe writing, herb rubbing, using our senses to explore the herbs and now cooking. To make this recipe at home, all you need is eggs, cheese, parsley and chives. And we guarantee the children would love to cook it with you! Yum!

11.01.2022 Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing Dads at Blayney Preschool we hope your day has been special!!

09.01.2022 Settling into a new environment can be a challenging journey for a child. It is often hard to say goodbye to their loved ones for the day. The educators in our Preschool Space have been hearing from the children (on an hourly basis!) how much they love their family. We invited the children and their families to take a moment in the morning to make a card or a picture at our love table together. Children also took beautiful cards home for their families to express how much t...hey love them. It was a lovely way to start the day- a slow and meaningful moment together before saying goodbye

08.01.2022 Early mark making, and the process of ‘becoming’ a writer, is complex and fascinating. There is so much more to learning to write than just the physical act of handwriting. It is in the early years that we put the vital foundations in place for our children to become confident and expressive writers later on. Mark making opens the door for children to express themselves in a completely new way, offering them the opportunity to express their feelings and thoughts without rely...ing solely upon verbal communication. Children may use mark making as a way of sharing their thoughts and feelings with adults around them, telling stories as they draw or sharing their completed picture with others offering an insight into what it represents. Practitioners can have a new insight into a child’s thoughts or feelings through the marks they produce. See more

07.01.2022 When the sun is shining and the creek bed is the place to be !! The children used the rocks to build volcanoes, lifted them up to look for bugs and found shapes like triangles and love hearts within the rocks. Happy Monday

07.01.2022 Easel painting has been very popular with the Tuesday group with lots of wonderful and interesting pictures being painted by our amazing Tuesday artists!! Easel painting provides opportunities for children to experiment with a range of creative elements which stimulates vast amounts of learning across a wide range of learning areas. Painting is a great way for children to communicate and express their thoughts, ideas, knowledge, culture and feelings both verbally and through ...their paintings. Painting is also the beginning of early literacy skills as children become aware of the relationship between pictures and print and pictures and storytelling. It also supports early maths skills as children make shapes and patterns within their pictures. The learning opportunities are endless hence why painting is always available for the children to explore. See more

07.01.2022 Have a guess at what has been one of the children’s main focuses this morning!

06.01.2022 Harry: This is a computer for my dragon and space research and information centre. You can come to the centre and learn about dragons and space at the same time. Edie: My dragon can breathe fire. It comes all the way from its tummy!. *Whispering a growl* The dragon is only doing a little growl because it’s ‘dragon resttime’.

04.01.2022 One of the truly special things about our long history is having previous Blayney Preschool children return with their own children. Imran attended the preschool many years ago and his son Yahya will join our preschool community in 2021. Imran said that he can remember playing in the hollow tree in the corner and riding the bikes around our outdoor space. It is a lovely reminder that the things we remember and cherish in our childhood, stay with us forever and often lives on in the next generation. #blayneypreschool2ndgeneration

01.01.2022 We are grateful to have been selected as part of the Bernardi’s Blayney #buildingbettercommunitiesprogram. As a not-for-profit community based preschool, we rely heavily on the community for support. "Community is much more than belonging to something, it's about doing something together that makes belonging matter".
