23.01.2022 Australian Art Express Famous artists feature heavily in our Stage 3 student pieces (Year 5 and 6) from the Heritage Country Schools Online Art Show. Can you see a bird using the Pete Cromer style of colour blocking? What about the abstract face art from Sandra Silberzweig? Or a pop art design of our all Australian Twisties?

23.01.2022 What Came First? 4S was very eggcited to visit 1E and see the chickens. They had 4 eggsperts explain the process of getting chickens from eggs and then they got to nurse a chicken. We are still not sure of the answer to what came first - the chicken or the egg? Mrs Chris Smith | Classroom Teacher

20.01.2022 Constructing Squares 2F learnt about square metres and how this unit of measurement is used in everyday life. Students collaborated in small groups to construct 1 metre squares using a metre ruler, set square and some chalk. We loved taking our Maths lesson outside! Mr Christopher Fletcher | Stage 2Classroom Teacher

19.01.2022 Stage 1 Yoga! Today we started with awareness of breathing exercises before moving to a body stretch. Then we moved onto a range of poses which develop muscle strength, body balance and core strength. Our core is our powerhouse for all movement. If we develop good core strength, all body movement is easy. From walking, running, swimming, to lifting and throwing, core strength and awareness is key - no matter your age! Sitting tall with a straight spine and legs out stretched is an effective way to develop core strength. Great work today Stage 1!! Margaret Wellham | Yoga Teacher

16.01.2022 TIG Early Stage 1 TIG stands for Traditional Indigenous Games and Yulunga has an amazing resource of hundreds of games suitable for all ages. Here they are playing Gorri, which is a disc rolling game played with a round piece of bark as the disc. Players would then use the disc as a target for their short spears. Ms Caitlin Webster | Classroom Teacher

11.01.2022 Bright Bursts of Colour Our favourite event, the Heritage Country Schools Art Show, will be online this year! All 7 schools have showcased their best art for you to enjoy. 08.01.2022 Aunty Mary 3W listened to Aunty Mary Rose talk about her story and her connection to the land. This kangaroo skin was a gift from her mother. It represents where Mary is from, Brewarrina NSW. Aunty Mary showed pictures of animals, birds, hunting tracks and the people in her family - all local to Brewarrina. Something important to Aunty Mary is time. Time, for children to grow and know who they are. Time to complete artwork. Time to weave baskets. 3W students completed an aboriginal inspired artwork which represents them and their families. A really interesting morning!! Mrs Marg Wellham | Classroom Teacher

03.01.2022 Yoga Stage 1! Today we wrapped up the term with an extra big stretch to begin the session followed by a range of poses which we've learnt this term. It was great to see how the students have developed their strength, balance and general body awareness. What I really noticed today was the students ability to follow my multi-step instructions. For example, 'Take your arms out to the side shoulder height, put all your weight on one leg, point the toe of the other leg, stand tal...l to find your balance, now raise the knee to as high as your balance will allow, remember to breathe and focus by looking straight ahead.' Just fantastic!! Very proud of their efforts. Thank you Stage One for making lunch times such fun! Margaret Wellham | Yoga Teacher
