22.01.2022 We are constantly amazed by the generosity of people. When retired contractor Malcolm Mills, formerly of Bungendore, now settled in Kalaru, wanted to gift his tools and fencing equipment to somewhere that would assist fire-affected people, he immediately thought of BlazeAid Cobargo. Thanks Malcolm we will use them well!

21.01.2022 Welcome back BlazeAid Adelong

21.01.2022 Andrew Ireland & team at Southern Farm Supplies in Bega have been helping us look after local property owners' fencing needs for the past year. We were blown away with their recent generous donation of fencing materials to help keep our jobs going. Such support from local businesses provides a real boost to our teams' efforts & morale. Thanks a million!

19.01.2022 BlazeAid = Rebuilding Fences + Helping Rebuild Lives

18.01.2022 BlazeAid Cobargo update Part. 1 THE FACTS On Friday the BlazeAid Cobargo camp coordinator and BlazeAid National Vice President met with the Project Leader: Recovery, Rebuilding & Resilience Program, Bega Valley Shire Council and it was determined that the current arrangement between BlazeAid, NSW Govt & BVSC will continue, allowing BlazeAid to remain in Cobargo until the end of August 2021. This represents the longest continuous presence of a BlazeAid camp in a single commu...nity. BVSC and BlazeAid are well aware that the need for support for this fire-affected community remains. As the local community will be aware, we have a large schedule of properties still to fence. Of course, we can only remain in Cobargo while we have volunteers to manage the camp, to cook & clean, manage our gear & tools, and most importantly, to fence. The good news is that we are seeing a steady stream of volunteers continuing to come and help out the Cobargo community. Spread the word that we not going anywhere for some months yet and will warmly welcome volunteers who want to join us for a day, a week, a month or more. See more

17.01.2022 BlazeAid Cobargo Update Part 2 The FACTS The list! We have never lost "the list" or found the list, or struck anyone off the list. "The list" is a complex database of anyone who ever registered as needing... help with rebuilding fences in the Cobargo area after the January 2020 fires. We have approx. 200 properties still to complete. The reality is we will likely never get to all of these properties, and some of the property owners, for one reason or another, will never be ready for a BlazeAid fencing team. What we CAN do: - we can pull down old boundary fences which are not overgrown with vegetation - we can rebuild boundary fences on fire-affected properties, including installing posts and hanging gates - we can repair existing fences if it is safe to do so What we CANNOT do: - we cannot build internal fences - we cannot work on fence lines where vegetation regrowth means our volunteers cannot see where they are walking; there are many risks to this, not least of which is snakes - we cannot fall or remove dangerous trees - we cannot provide fencing materials Property owners can assist us by clearing and slashing their fence lines in preparation for our team of volunteer fencers. If they cannot clear the fence lines themselves, it might be time to get a neighbour working bee together to lend a hand. It is difficult to promise a date when we can get a fencing team to your property, but we can promise that we can't rebuild your fences if the lines are not safe for our volunteers to work. Any queries, or to keep up with the facts, contact the BlazeAid Camp Coordinator
