24.01.2022 Throwback to our ODD (14) on the 20.10.2020, where YingXuan led us through an insightful discussion about the duality of our mind and ways to lead a positive life through our ability to govern our mindset, in the guidance of Humanistic Buddhism. In the cultivation to become the master of our mind, we are encouraged to the practice the Dharma, practice mindfulness, have trust in the Buddhist teachings and cultivate a true mind as explored in details in the slides. Thank... you to our guiding Venerable, Venerable Chueh Ru, for sharing with us that in order to foster a ‘true mind’, we must rely on the Dharma and practice diligently as ‘where there is Dharma, there is a way. Our mind is the governor of our feelings, perceptions and actions. By relying on the Dharma and upholding the precepts, one is set on the path of having right view and understanding that will guide us to making right choices. Simultaneously, one is able to lessen and liberate self from our hindrances, afflictions and defilements. We would also like to thank Kee Lee Shijie, President of BLIAV East 2 Subchapter, for joining and sharing her wisdom with us on this topic. And lastly, thank our fellow interstate YADs for joining and sharing!

07.01.2022 In the month of May, we celebrate the birth of the Buddha by bathing a tiny statue of the Buddha. As a tradition, we take three rounds of bathing an infant version of the Buddha using scented, blessed water that has a specific meaning to it. The three rounds represent a vow made by the person doing it to attain purity of body, speech and mind in the three times of past, present and future.... Every year on our Buddhas Day Multicultural Festival, theres a special section where we set up space for people to bathe the Buddha. . . . . . . . . . . . . #buddhismquotes #buddhismphilosophy #buddhismteachings #zenbuddhism #buddhismquote #buddhismtemple #tibetanbuddhism #buddhismisalifestyle #buddhismwisdom #buddhismforbeginners #buddhismsayings #chinesebuddhism #foguangshan #foguangshantemple #foguangshanmelbourne #foguangshanbuddha #buddhasday #buddhaday

05.01.2022 Throwback to our ODD (15) where Mabelle from Sydney led us through a fruitful discussion on the Buddhist perspective of money and wealth Through understanding the Noble Eightfold Path, we are reminded that everything we "own" including our possessions and wealth is because of our own efforts. Further, we are reminded that our possessions are co-owned by 5 families. Building affinities, being generous and giving are also examples of how to acquire wealth. Importantly, we ...should learn that wisdom is the highest of all wealth which can be cultivated over time. We would also like to thank Ven. Chueh Ru for joining and sharing on the importance of wisdom as this will help us to learn & let go of our defilements, desires and greed. We are also reminded that life is impermanent and we cannot carry our possessions to our next life And lastly, thank our fellow interstate YADs for joining and sharing! #yad #dharma #buddhism #

04.01.2022 Quote by Buddha- In this world, hate never dispelled hate. Only love dispels hate.’’ Throwback to our ODD 17 where @tanyanham led us through a fruitful discussion in understanding the hindrances to reaching Harmony between Self and Others and thus how we can overcome through fostering good bonds and affinities. As explored, there are 5 harmonies advocated by Ven. Master Hsing Yun through Humanistic Buddhism. It is important to recognise that we need to achieve harmony or... peace within ourselves first before we can spread harmony and the goodness to another person. For example, the conditions that foster harmonious relationships include 3 Goods, 4 Gives and the Four Immeasurables. We would also like to thank our Guiding Venerable, Ven. Chueh Ru for reminding us that beings are dependent on each other and that we must learn to coexist. Therefore, we should be a good listener, be open to new views and opinions. Importantly, we are encouraged to face all challenges in life with a smile. And lastly, thank our fellow interstate YADs for joining and sharing! #yad #dharma #buddhism #
