09.01.2022 Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding during such a difficult year for everyone with Covid-19. Your teachers and WZ committee have been w...orking very hard to continue to support our members whilst also looking after yours and their health and well-being including doing our best to find appropriate venues and have our competitions go ahead, within NSW Health guidelines. As expected and with all sports, WZ Physical Culture Competitions for 2020 will look very different given the current circumstances and restrictions in place from NSW Health. We have already delayed our competition dates by approximately 2 months to ensure we could still have a version of our competitions this year. At this point in time, we will be having our Champion Girl Competitions on Sunday 1st and Sunday 8th November 2020. With a large reduction in our members due to Covid-19, we have had to make some quite difficult decisions while keeping the best interests of our members, teachers, clubs and the WZ association at the top of mind. This year, instead of our members competing at Champion Girl and being selected to attend Grand Final on a separate date; our members will be competing at Champion Girl for Grand Final for each age and grade section on Sunday 1st and Sunday 8th November. Due to the numbers, some sections will be judged from a single heat and others may require a final. This is very different to what we normally would, however we hope you understand and appreciate the current circumstances we are under and we are grateful to be having our Champion Girl competitions at the delayed dates for 2020 rather than cancelling the whole year so far. As at today, we are able to have one audience member per competitor attend to watch the respective competition. Further information about the requirements for audience and the comings and goings between sections is provided below however, as with all things, this may potentially change based on Government and NSW Health Guidelines. We understand some of these restrictions and rules may be difficult, however it is for the safety of all involved and at this point we are grateful to be able to have any audience members given a lot of sports are still unable to do this. Below are the dates for the sections for WZ Champion Girl. The times and schedule for each day will be provided in the coming weeks. Sunday 1st November 2020 at St Paul's Grammar School Cranebrook: - 3-4 years - 5-6 years - 9-10 years - 11-12 years - Seniors Sunday 8th November 2020 at St Paul's Grammar School Cranebrook: - 7-8 years - Teens - Ladies Competition Regulations: - Competitions are being run differently this year and audience and competitors will only be able to attend the venue for their allocated section. Each section will be judged immediately and the venue emptied with chairs sanitised prior to the next audience entering. Unfortunately we are unable to have other competitors or audience members wait for or watch other age groups. - All competitors must arrive to competitions dressed and ready to go on the floor (of course with the exception of your ballets which you can put on inside the venue). There is to be no hairdressing and no use of the change rooms at the venue. - Paper, single use numbers will be provided for members at Champion Girl this year. - WZ will have a Covid Marshall onsite to help monitor our audience and competitors and do our best to keep everyone as safe as we possibly can. - As with normal WZ competitions, tickets for the event will need to be pre-purchased in advance from your clubs (via WZ). - With restrictions in place and for the safety of our members, we are only able to have ONE audience member per competitor and NO CHILDREN (i.e. unable to have siblings attend for your child). - Audience members will be seated within social distancing requirements at 1.5 metres apart. - Audience members and anyone attending the venue will be requested to hand sanitise on entry and exit and hand sanitiser will be readily available at all times. - For additional safety, face masks must also be worn while in attendance at our WZ Champion Girl. - Every person onsite at the venue for WZ Champion Girl will be required to check in and out and provide appropriate contact information. Thank you for your support, further information regarding competitions will continue to be released in the coming weeks. Our WZ Committee are doing our best and trying to communicate as much as we can going forward to ensure transparency across our association and our members, as we mentioned this is current as at today 20th August and we will keep everyone updated if anything changes. Please note, members are under no obligation to compete in WZ Champion Girl competitions this year, it is entirely up to each individual, however if you can please let your teacher know that would be great. Any questions please contact Lyn or the Competition Committee ([email protected]). Keep practising, stay healthy and we hope to see your smiling faces in November!
