25.01.2022 That’s a wrap on season 2020/21. After last weeks match we draw this season to a close. The 2020/21 season was certainly a season like no other, with COVID caus...ing massive disruption throughout. Before the season kicked off we got the disappointing news that NCIC would not go ahead for 2021, something at the time we all saw coming but was still extremely disappointing for our players. We were able to get the season started in November slightly later then usual. However just two weeks in we were once again forced to stop by COVID regulations. December 13 we once again took the field this time going down to Athelstone in a great contest. Once again this this season our Junior program continued to grow. Over the 2020/21 season BCSA had 20 junior participants take part in our program. A highlight of the program was certainly on December 15 at our first school holiday session. We were able to host 18 kids for a day of cricket and activity’s enjoyed by all. Cricket continued throughout December with a game against the SACA staff on Karen Rolten Oval before we took a small break over the holiday period. 2021 kicked off with a game against Adelaide Uni Sports. We were lucky enough to be joined by CA who did some filming on the game and our Junior session prior. AdelIne, Antony and Arron were also lucky enough to receive a message from Nathan Lyon. Cricket continued throughout 2021 including a game shading SASVI staff which had a fantastic crowd watching on, and our yearly game under lights at park 12 against Adelaide Uni Legends. On the last week of our season we kicked off our women’s program something that had been in the planning almost all season. The Women’s program was an idea from one of our Juniors Adeline and is already gaining massive interest. With 6 players taking part and another 3 having taken part in our junior program we already have a fantastic base to continue with for 2021/22. Over all season 2020/21 we certainly like no other the constant interruptions and delays caused frustrations. However it was very well dealt with by the club and we were able to get in as much cricket as possibly. We would like to thank all our players from our juniors and seniors program who made the season possible. The season gave us a great opportunity to blood some new players from our junior program as well as working on the skills of many of our newer players. A huge thank you to the teams that played us through out the season without you all we would not of had any games this year. Let’s hope for a bigger and better 2021/22.

21.01.2022 The very best of luck to our NSW Goalball friends Tami and Amy, who are finalists in the NSW Sport Awards 2020 in the young coaches and community official awards! Winners will be announced from 7pm next Wednesday, 18 November.

20.01.2022 On the 15th of November, NSWBC took on Ginninderra, a local cricket team from Canberra. The game commenced at 1:30 on a ground with some thick grass, so both teams had to run hard between wickets under a hot sun. Oscar Stubbs and Shaun Fitzpatrick opened for NSW, together putting on an impressive partnership. Oscar Stubbs (72 off 40) and Shaun Fitzpatrick (30 off 18) with Shaun retiring at drinks. Ben Felton came in as the first B1 and scored 20 off 10 balls, before being run... out by some great fielding from the local side. Other notable batting performances were: Lindsay (10 runs), Dylan Ellul (13 not out) Peter Kokkinakis (6 not out). NSWBC finished up 5/161 after their 20 overs. It was a quick turnover between innings as NSW were eager to show what they could do with the ball. Key moments from the fielding were Oscar Stubbs and Shaun Fitzpatrick both taking catches that were overturned because of a 2 catch rule we played on the day (2nd chance if a player is caught). Vaughan Roles made a stellar run out off his own bowling and getting another wicket. Ben Felton also took 2 wickets and Sean Brown chipped bowled well, taking 2 wickets. Well done to Dylan Ellul who took the keeping gloves for the final 10 overs and even getting a run out on his keeping debut. At the end of the 20 overs, Ginninderra finished on 9/110. A massive thank you to the Ginninderra cricket team, Blind Sport NSW, BCACT and to all who were involved in helping get this game together. BCNSW is happy to continue building relationships in all parts of NSW and to keep growing the sport and help Vision Impaired/Blind people get out for some time in the sun.

19.01.2022 We would like to congratulate Amy Ridley from NSW Goalball for winning Young Coach of the Year!! What a fantastic achievement!! Unfortunately Jason was unlucky in his respective category but he’s still a winner in our eyes. Volunteers are essential for sport and their tireless work should never go unnoticed.

18.01.2022 ACT Blind Cricket had a sensational day today with NSW Blind Cricket coming down for a game. We joined forces with the lads from the U16 Ginninderra junior cric...ket team. It was a close match considering the circumstances with NSW winning by 20 runs. We would like to say a massive thank you to Ginninderra Junior Cricket club for hosting us with such open arms and for the boys who stepped up and embraced the new format with such maturity! There are talks of making this an annual event! 12.01.2022 Check out some photos and a description of this magnificent cricket bat designed by Thomas Mikhail. What a talent! My name is Thomas Mikhail and I go to St Luke’s Grammar School. For my Year 6 Graduate Diploma Project, I decided to create a cricket bat designed for blind cricket. A customised cricket bat is needed in blind cricket because the ball usually hits the very bottom of the bat. To compensate for this, I designed the bat so most of the meat is at the bottom so that... the ball can be hit further and cleaner. My brand is called Clean Sweep bats and my inspiration for this project started when I did my community service with Blind Cricket NSW. In conclusion, I hope this bat will be helpful to blind cricketers in the future.

09.01.2022 Today was the first day back for NSWBC and what an amazing day it was. It all started with the juniors, plenty of new players and all eager to give it a go. Everyone got a bat and a bowl with Thunder just edging past to get the win. Great game to all those juniors that gave it a go today Onto the senior game with the sun beaming down on the 2 teams, jerseys were handed out to the juniors making their senior debuts. Sixers had Sophie and young Nick. With the Thunder calling up... Ali from the junior team. It was the Sixers starting with the bat. Steffan Nero and Sean Brown opened the batting, an early wicket for Thunder through their captain Oscar Stubbs bowling Sean Brown for a golden duck. Steffan and Ben Felton steadied the ship with Steffan quickly retiring after the 4th over (30 not out). Sixers middle and back of the order had to push to get a defendable score, that’s what happened when Nick Haydar and Sixers young debutant Nick were at the crease together. Young Nick hitting 7 off 10 and Nick Haydar (20 off 14). Sixers ending up 9/136. Some quality performances by Cassandra Dellzeit 16 off 22, Dominic Picton 20 off 20 and Gerry Cook 25 off 18. Quality bowling by Vaughan Roles 1/20 after 4 getting an LBW wicket on Shaun Fitzpatrick. Oscar Stubbs getting 2 wickets on the day as well After a rest it was time for Sydney Thunder to chase down 136 off 120 balls. Oscar Stubbs and Lindsay Heaven opened the batting for the Thunder. Sixers eager to keep the runs down started with Sean Brown bowling Lindsay Heaven for a duck in the first over. Oscar Stubbs not being shaken by an early wicket scored his 30 off 14 balls and retired. Sean Brown then getting the LBW wicket of Stephen Palmer (14 off 6). Mick Leigh and Ethan Scaturchio put on an impressive partnership before Mick was run out and soon after came the wicket of Ethan by Cassandra. Up to the strike came Thunders debutant Ali, showing an impressive strike, it took some great bowling by Sixers youngsters Nick and Sophie to take Ali’s wicket and keep the runs at a minimum. Ali finishing on 7 off 7 with Sophie bowling 2 overs for 20 runs and young Nick finishing his 2 overs for 14 runs Sixers took the Thunder to the last over where Troy King and captain Oscar Stubbs drove in the winning runs with 3 balls to go for Thunder to take the first win of the year. An amazing game played by all and plenty of juniors receiving their senior jerseys for Thunder and Sixers. A big thank you to Isabella, Taylor and Sonja from Blind Sports NSW for playing and helping out today. We hope that this game is a great sign of things to come. Cricket is looking good in NSW for the present and the future
