15.01.2022 ARE YOUR SHUTTERS CYCLONE RATED??? I have been asked this question a fair bit lately because there has been a few installs that have been pointed out to me from customers from other companies and at Blinds2U we want to make sure the customer knows what product they are getting and that no matter which company installs the product I just wanted to make sure that the product your getting is what they say it is. They might say it’s cyclone rated but make sure before you sign any...thing check the quote states cyclone rated or cyclone safe. I thought I might put up a few photos to show you the differences in frames, motors and fixings. First of all is your frame 70mm wide and have a restricted guide on the inside for the cyclone clips? Second it can depend what motor you have installed, normally a cyclone rated shutter has a tubular motor and it’s drive side the motor has two screws as in the photo. The side mount motor which is generally used for standard domestic shutters has four screws holding it in. And last how many screws are holding your shutter on the wall? Generally there is no limit to this but you want to have no more than 400mm apart due to the fact if we get heavy winds from a Cyclone it’s less chance of your shutter ripping off the wall.
