25.01.2022 The Koalas came up with some great ideas for reusing the old textas and broken crayons during outdoor play. They placed the textas into jars of water to make their own watercolour paints before crushing up and then melting the crayon remnants to make textured paint!

25.01.2022 For National Recycling Week, the Possums have been learning about recycling water! Using our rain water tank to water our plants and reading a story about the importance of saving water in relation to animals.

23.01.2022 During indoor play we discussed ideas for future cooking experiences. We incorporated literacy into our discussion by recording responses on the Commbox, and the children required minimal assistance from educator whilst doing so.

22.01.2022 Writing letters to Santa!!!! Today the Koala’s started writing letters to Santa. Families are in for a real treat as to what some of the children have asked for.

20.01.2022 The Koalas spent the morning making Christmas decorations using paddle pop sticks, gumnuts and glue. They were very particular about the placement of the materials and adamant they would take pride of place on their Christmas trees at home.

17.01.2022 Our elves have been very busy packing our 2020 donations this weekend, our current count is 20 completed bags with many more donations yet to be packed. We can’t thank our families enough for their kind donations, if you would still like to donate we will be collecting all this week with our final delivery of bags next weekend.

14.01.2022 We are learning about sustainable practices as we take our friend’s scary carved Halloween pumpkin and cut it up for our worm farm. This way it won’t go to waste and will eventually turn into great compost for our gardens.

11.01.2022 Enjoying an early sensory Christmas experience, festive coloured play dough incorporating scents of peppermint, lavender and vanilla to smell.

10.01.2022 Today we revisited our design sketches for the butterfly feeder during outdoor play. We collected the necessary materials before beginning to construct it and the children were hands on throughout the entire process. Hopefully our feeder will attract more butterflies to our beautiful garden so we can observe them up close in their natural habitat!

05.01.2022 Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble!! Check out our Halloween inspired creations! There was lots of imagination and creativity put into these monsters, spiders, pumpkins and creepy crawlies!!

02.01.2022 Diwali is a Hindu festival that is celebrated every year. The Festival Of The Lights starts today and goes for three consecutive days. This morning we had a lovely visit from Riya’s Mummy, Neelam. She talked to the Koalas about Diwali and what it represents. Some of the Koalas joined Neelam and Riya to create colourful lamps. The children folded paper into fan patterns and then cut out little shapes to represent the flames. They decorated the lamps with collage materials. Thank you Neelam and Riya for sharing part your culture with us.

02.01.2022 THANK YOU The generosity of our Blinkies community has donated 52 bags to the it's in the bag campaign this Christmas, the donations of our families has brightened the lives of many in our community.

01.01.2022 As part of our Transition To School program the Super School children were given the opportunity to explore road safety. We focused on school crossings and what to expect. While some of the Koalas have already experienced lollipop people, stop and walk signs and crossing the road with their siblings and family at big school, others showed an interest in the photos and contributed to the road safety discussions.
