25.01.2022 Local Car Loans Player of the Day is Lily. Big smiles and happy to be playing tennis is our Lily. Come to think of it Blitz is full of girls just like Lily!

24.01.2022 WERE BACK ON COURT! With the restrictions now eased we can look at commencing modified training. Edmonton Tennis will begin classes from next Monday 11th May.... We will continue to follow the recommended guidelines of 2 per court and hygiene rules also apply. For full details and to secure your spot contact Coach Guy now. Happy Hitting

23.01.2022 Its 10am and our Edmonton Tennis Club Courts are hot, humid and downright uncomfortable to practise on! So a 5 minute drive to our jungle court and its a different world. Shade to play under the canopy, honey eaters on the fences, pollinating our enviroment. Total cost to set the court up was $270 which included a $200 leaf blower.... Absolute bargain we think!

23.01.2022 Someone likes his new Jolly Socks!!!

23.01.2022 One of our Blitz players shared their bright idea this morning... She found a novel way to get Mum and Dad out of bed at 5.30am to take her to "special" events the squad has planned. When Mum and Dad show a natural reluctance, this Blitzer puts the "feral" pet cat in their bedroom and shuts the door. "Tom", the cat, no relation to the coach, screeches the house down to be fed! Guess it’s time for tennis then

23.01.2022 Congratulations to all our Blitz players who participated in the regions first JDS tournament at the Cairns International Tennis Centre this weekend! It was great to see you all back out on court and getting some matches again. Fantastic results & sportsmanship was shown by all. You do the southside clubs Proud Special mention to our finalists placing 1st or 2nd in their divisions: Justin Cheng (Winner)... Nicholas Jensen (Winner) Arnhem Pyawa (Runner Up) Arthur Tsakissiris (Runner Up) Great work team Edmonton Tennis Club Gordonvale Tennis Club

21.01.2022 Local Car Loans Player of the Day. Paige is one of those rare young ladies who finds her backhand easier than her forehand. Looking good Paige!

17.01.2022 BLITZ ON TOUR First stop was Mackay and the kids were keen to get on court with the local kids. Back on court this morning before heading to Rockhampton.... A few pics of the kids this morning (sorry I missed getting them all) having a hit on court. A big thanks to the club sponsor Local Car Loans for getting us there

17.01.2022 Baileys New Court. The net has arrived! Sports Scientists have discovered that talented stars of the future (Bailey) need to train on hybrid courts i.e, Clay and Grass. Bailey says he isnt concerned so long as his horses are able to watch him train and dont leave their droppings on his new court!

17.01.2022 Blitzers, we have put together more nets. We dont have stands for them but you can use chairs or saw horses, or similar to make a court. Give Guy a call and he will deliver them!

16.01.2022 The blitz kids have gone crazy over our Jolly Sock fundraiser To get yourself a pair or to grab a box to sell, send us a message through this page. $6ea

16.01.2022 Local Car Loans Player of the Day is Elijah. This fella is only 5yrs old but can he hit a ball already. If he puts his mind to it he won't be heading off to Spain like Alex Di Minaur. He will do it here at Edmonton!

15.01.2022 The Blitz team would like to acknowledge and thank our newest sponsor Local Car Loans Welcome to the team

15.01.2022 Sad end to our "Jungle Court". Along with the long abandoned farmhouses and sheds it has been demolished to make way for Highway extensions. No longer the sojourn of birds, snakes, wallabies, the ocassional wild pig and of course kids just hitting tennis balls.

15.01.2022 So the day has come that our Emilio family have their last lesson at Blitz. All the best girls and we look forward to seeing you all back here one day soon!!

14.01.2022 Local Car Loans Player of the Day. This young lady is Heidi. Besides cutting a very photogenic picture, Heidi is definitely a Blitz star of the future.

14.01.2022 Nostalgia. Doesnt take long for the jungle is starting over again! Brush past a shrub and one of the missing 60 balls drops out.

13.01.2022 Double runners up. Blitz brother and sister combination, Phoebe and Dylan were both finalists in the Ingham JDS tournament on the weekend. Both were playing against older players in mixed competition. Phoebe, who is 12yrs in Division 1 and Dylan, 10yrs in Division 3. Well done guys!

12.01.2022 The next JDS event will be held in Mareeba. This will be a 1 day age group event with the 13U, 15U & 17U playing Saturday & U11 & Green Ball playing Sunday. Entries close Sunday 21st. https://app.myutr.com/events/45157

12.01.2022 The members of the Edmonton & Gordonvale tennis clubs would like to extend their condolences to the Townsville tennis community in the passing of Head Coach Wayne Hannah. In past years our junior members have been lucky to call the Townsville clubhouse our home-away-from-home and have memories of Waynes coaching...and always from Court 8 Our coach Guy recalls memories and shares:... Remembering Wayne. So sad to hear of the passing of Wayne Hannah. So many stories and fond memories in the 25 years that I knew him. One of my favourites was that Wayne and a couple of young boys were selected to attend a Tennis Australia Talent Identification Camp in Brisbane. Wayne had bought along a skinny 9yr old boy, with loads of talent but still very raw around the edges. You always knew Waynes kids were tough seasoned little blokes, always up for the fight! As was often the case in the past, one of the TA coaches was a young bloke very light on coaching experience, with a big mouth and dumb as a box of hammers! As often happens with young kids, Waynes boy struggled with grips at this early age. Box of Hammers was scathing in his critism of Regional Coaches suggesting who would allow a kid that grip to serve with! Another regional coach present turned to Hammers and said There is the coach your referring to over there, why dont you tell him! Hammers mumbled something so the Regional Coach then asked our expert, How many players have you in the main draw of the Australian Open this year?" Wayne had two: JP Smith and Lizette Cabrera. Mr Hammers resigned soon after! A great coach that will be sadly missed

12.01.2022 Social Distancing is tough when dealing with little guys. Coach can start to sound like an army Sgt Major. These guys are having fun though! From left: Lael, Paul, Lucca, Nate, Jas, Jade and Jolie.

11.01.2022 Jayda jas been practising on one of our nets. She is proud that she has a best score of ten without missing on the wall. Lookin Good CHAMP!

11.01.2022 I would like to congratulate everyone for the Opening of the Roof Celebrations at Cairns International Tennis Centre. Those that were selected to represent Blitz did an excellent job. We were allocated five (5) for our older juniors and six (6) for our 8yr olds. We have 15 older ones who were both eligible and deserving, yet we could only take five. At the time I what no idea that Ash Barty would be back in town to participate. It wouldnt have mattered because the correct t...hing to do was to share the spots around to those that hadnt featured in National and Local newspapers, or on 7news Cairns. Others were fortunate to have been selected for National Training Camps around the country. Two Blitzers accompanied Ash Barty on a trip to the Daintree last Friday so it was time to give others a go! WELL DONE BLITZERS FOR BEING SUCH GOOD SPORTS! See more

10.01.2022 School Cross Country Championships today and Blitz has unearthed some more champion athletes. Backrow from left. Morghan 1st, Audrey 3rd & Nariah 1st place. Front Row from left. Thomas 4th and Liam 2nd.

08.01.2022 NEW AMENDED POST Until further notice, the Edmonton and Gordonvale Courts are now open to children participating in the junior program ONLY with strict precautions. 08.01.2022 A GLIMPSE THROUGH THE FENCE! Youve all seen our Jungle Courts, and now well share with you a further view of our surroundings which holds our latest spectators...snakes, wallabies & wild pigs! Throw a few abandoned farm houses in too. No wonder weve lost about 60 balls over the week, no one is brave enough to go looking for them

08.01.2022 Local Car Loans player of the day is Ava. Ava loves tennis, even at 5yrs of age she knows her best shot is her forehand.

08.01.2022 Shout out to our local Raw Material Yard Zappala RAW Materials up the road, who today donated and spread some crusher dust to fix all our mud holes behind the courts. It’s a smoother drive now folks Thanks Tony & Lesley https://www.facebook.com/363910093941652/

07.01.2022 Some of our Blitz players were apart of the FNQ Team playing against NQ in the Battle of the Tropics in Townsville over the weekend. The top 4 boys and girls in each division for 11’s, 13’s, 15’s & 17’s joined together to make a team playing singles, doubles & mixed doubles over the two days. Top right: Justin, Arnhem... Bottom right: Phoebe & Alexis Absent: Shayley We are pleased to announce our mighty FNQ team bought home the trophy Great work by all!

06.01.2022 Blitz winners were 12 yr old Justin who won both singles and doubles in the B Grade Mens and 9 year old Liam Howard who won the 10 and under section without dropping a game. The tournament also saw the return of Emma Williams (nee Hiles). Emma who hadn't picked up a racquet for over 10 years, has had 3 hits with Blitz juniors in the last fortnight, prior to the tournament. Despite the mounting injuries Emma lasted just long enough to win the Open Ladies singles.
