25.01.2022 This Global Climbing Day, were celebrating leaders pushing for change & engaging the climbing community in a series of conversations about accessibility, inclusivity & the future of climbing. Were excited to use this opportunity to highlight someone whos work we greatly admire Mark Altmann [@aussie.paraclimber] Mark is an an adaptive athlete, an Australian Paraclimber, member of the Australian Paraclimbing committee and a big supporter of growing Paraclimbing in Australi...a I love every chance I get to climb. From a chilled session with friends to training or representing my country at an elite level. Competing nationally in bouldering & internationally as a Paraclimber at the recent World Championship. In this busy world I find no quieter place than on a wall. "The climbing community welcomed me with open arms from the first moment I walked into my local gym. From my first top, I was hooked. Coming from a competitive sporting background, with my new passion all I wanted to do was compete. Engaging with our amazing community from event organisers, volunteers & brilliantly creative route setters, we were able to include paraclimbing into local competitions & making it more accessible to everyone as it soon became a staple at every event including State and National Titles. Constantly pushing for the next challenge & with @sportclimbingaustralia support the first Australian Paraclimbing team was created. I was ecstatic to see it quickly grow in numbers & have Australia represented on the international stage of Paraclimbing at the 2019 World Championships. I am now part of the Australian Paraclimbing committee to help grow & cement its place in the future of Australian climbing. I push for this change not only for me and my drive for competition but for the kids of today & tomorrow. The ones who say I inspire them. Because in truth I am not only inspired by our great athletes but also by our younger generations of athletes. The ones who give it their all, pushing harder every day with the goal to be as great as their idol.
