17.01.2022 It’s with heavy hearts that we advise that BLOC’s 2020 production of Mamma Mia has been postponed until such time as the COVID19 crisis is over. BLOC is still committed to staging this production, but once it is feasible and safe to do so. We are working closely with Her Majesty’s Theatre and our rights providers on next steps. We are looking for staff to be campsite concierge that are very vibrant and willing to put on a bit of a character while on shift to make the campers feel welcome and safe. The position will be giving out basic information to campers while providing a welcoming environment with things such music playing on a speaker, fun colourful uniforms and social games.... The cast & crew were honoured to bring some joy and Disney magic to the lives of children and families living with cancer. This time it’s not actors needing costumes but the injured wildlife getting their support. On Saturday 10 happy sewers gathered at the BLOC hall and created a collection of 3D Hanging pouches for Kangaroos and Wallabies. 13.01.2022 So tonight was a first for the BLOC committee ... #VideoConference ! It's not that we can't do things, we just have to do things differently. BLOC committee is meeting next week and we are adjusting and innovating to ensure the goals of BLOC continue to be achieved. Tonight was only a test, but also ended up in a bit of a committee "social wine time" during #socialIsolation. These are difficult times but BLOC and Ballarat theatre as a community will continue to survive and be resilient with the support of our community. We'll be meeting next week to talk about next steps for BLOC and will provide some updates soon! Keep calm, wash your hands and look after each other !

You’d be hard pressed to find anyone in the performing arts in Ballarat who hasn’t met, worked with or been impacted by her kindness, generosity and contribution over those 40 years. 13.01.2022 It is with great sadness that we share with you, that there is one more star in the night’s sky. On Saturday, Lyle Quick passed away. Lyle was much loved within the Ballarat Theatre Community and was a core part of the DNA at BLOC. Lyle’s first involvement with BLOC was in Jan 1984 where he assisted on the set construction of ‘Bedazzled’. Since then he has not only been involved in the construction, but back stage, painting, props construction and design for over 60 musical ...productions. He also contributed to many sets for Ballarat Lyric Theatre Inc., Ballarat National Theatre Inc as well as countless schools and amateur theatre companies across Victoria. We could go on for months about Lyle, his lifetime of volunteerism, contribution to our community and plenty of cheeky and funny stories, but we can still hear him say don’t make a fuss. Our thoughts, along with those of the Ballarat Theatre community, are especially with Gwen, Naomi, Tanya & Darren at this sad time. We will all miss him dearly. Vale Quicky See more

What makes this event even more exciting is the fact it features local Ballarat actor and BLOC alumni Aaron Glenane. Aaron performed with BLOC Music Theatre in 2001 - Oliver, 2002 - Half a Sixpence and 2003 as Tobias Ragg in Sweeny Todd. Since his time with BLOC Aaron has had a hug...e range of stage and screen credits, including Black Balloon, Drift and Killing Ground. Put this event in your diary!!!

03.01.2022 Love, Ballarat Presents Live History Talks & Shows For Ballarat Heritage Weekend!! ‘Love, Ballarat’ is a new online live video project focusing on some of the best, unheard stories of our little historic town, brought to you by the talented people that reside here. The project was started on the 1st of May (National Love Day) in response to COVID-19 restrictions and the effect this had on our creative community.... The teams from Tales From Rat City, (Katrina Hill and Daivid Waldron), and Retro Events & Marketing (Emma Hall) joined forces to create something that will bring the Ballarat community together - even if just online - to support our local performers and event staff. Love, Ballarat is excited to be a part of the wonderful array of virtual events being held under the umbrella of the Ballarat Heritage Weekend, including a series of virtual tours.
