21.01.2022 Unless you haven't noticed, natural looking hair is kinda my thing . What does lived in colour mean? It's a customised colour blending your natural hair to your desired tone. It will grow out softly and avoids any 'regrowth' look. .... How often do I need to come in? I always recommend 4-8 weeks for a toning and trim appointment, 8-12 weeks for partial foils and 6 monthly for a full highlighting service. . What can I do to achieve the best results? Working with your natural colour will give you longevity. Ig you want a lighter/darker base it will require more maintenance. Using good quality products to help with colour fade and keep the health of hair in tact. Also pigmented shampoos and treatments will help keep the tone looking good but toning appointments will still be required. . How do I book in? Whether it's coming in for foils, getting a gloss in the salon or using toning products at home, blonde hair requires a lot of maintenance. Unfortunately it isn't a colour that you can get done and forget about it for months (unless you're happy looking yellow). . You will need to use high quality shampoos, treatments and leave in moisturisers. It's almost impossible to avoid dry and split ends if you... aren't using the right products at home. 18.01.2022 2020 is officially booked Just under 4 weeks until Christmas and I am fully booked. It's going to be a big few weeks coming up so I wanted to go over a few little things work as smoothly as possible. Firstly, I'm so freakin grateful for everyone that's already made an appointment. If for any reason you can't make your appointment I will try my best to find another time but at this stage I have no wiggle room for reschedules.... I do currently have a waitlist in place, so if you missed out on an appointment and would like to be added to it, send me a message ASAP. 16.01.2022 Did you know Blonde and Bones is proudly a sustainable salon? You might be wondering what that means. Let me fill you in . Through the @sustainablesalonsanz program I'm able to recycle 95% of the waste in the salon. This means used foils, empty colour tubes, plastic bottles, leftover colour and even hair. Anything that is put into the sustainable bins gets repurposed, recycled or donated. . I wanted to let you know about some of the cool things that happens to my waste ...once it leaves the salon. Any ponytails over 20cms will be donated to make wigs but those small hairs we trim can be used to make hair booms. It is put into stockings and goes out into our oceans to soak up oil spills When our waste gets recycled Sustainable Salons donates any proceeds to @ozharvest who help to feed people in need. I'll be posting a few slides in my stories of some of their other amazing work . With small things like these throughout my business, I am able to do my part in making big changes for our earth . 15.01.2022 What makes you go for a certain shampoo and conditioner? . There's so many brands and different products out there that it's almost overwhelming. Every product has a different use, cost, smell, packaging and ingredients but I want to let you know a few things to help when choosing the right ones for you. . First things first, what hair problems do you have? Think of products like medicine for the hair. They should be fixing a certain issues you're having. Do you have d...ry hair? Frizzy hair? Colour faded hair? Flaky scalp? You should choose something that will help to fix your current issue and keep in mind these things will always change over time. . How often are you having to wash your hair? If you are washing your hair daily it may be that your shampoo or conditioner is too heavy and you need something lighter. If you wash your hair once a week you may need something that will thoroughly cleanse your hair and scalp. . Sometimes your hair/scalp will have multiple issues so you may need a certain shampoo, conditioner, treatment and leave in products in different ranges. If you have allergies to certain ingredients or perfumes, not every product will be the right fit. Products can take up to 6 weeks to see results so make sure to persevere with them before you give up. . 12.01.2022 Let's talk haircuts I wanted to touch on some haircut myths that I commonly hear. "If I cut my hair it will grow quicker". Technically this isn't true. Your hair will not grow from the scalp any quicker BUT it will stop your ends from splitting. This will stop your ends snapping off and you will notice more length.... "I'll just use a treatment instead of getting a cut". Treatments will help make the hair feel better but unfortunately once the hair is split and dead it cannot be repaired. You will need to have the ends cut to prevent the hair splitting further up. "I'll lose all my length I've grown". This doesn't always have to be the case. One of my favourite techniques to do with haircuts is what's called a dusting. This removes the split ends on the hair further up the head but doesn't require taking any length off. Your hairs health is my number one priority in the salon and regular haircuts are the best way to keep it at its best. How often you're needing a cut will be depending on your hair type, health, length and goals. 12.01.2022 I've seen quite a few new faces on my page lately so I thought I should share '10 fun facts about me' so you can get to know me a little better I'm 27 next month but some days I still think of myself as 17 I've had almost every hair colour but I'll always be a blonde at heart Sometimes you'll see me in dresses and skirts, sometimes you'll see me dressed as an emo kid like it's the early 2000s... I'm an introverted/anxious person most of the time but I love connecting with people and once I put those walls down, you'll see my extroverted side I love anything and everything Halloweeny and wished we celebrated it like the US I lived the first 25 years of my life in Sydney until moving to Brisbane in 2018. The only thing I'll never get used to here is the heat My first concert was Parkway Drive in 2009 and it opened me up to the world of heavy music I'm half Australian half German. 09.01.2022 Time for an update (may be a long one) I've been a little MIA with posting lately for no reason other than I felt overwhelmed with it all. I've been really busy in the salon lately and the hustle will continue with holiday period fast approaching. All that aside, I'm still alive and well. Posting just hasn't been my top priority lately. In saying that, there's a few things I wanted to let everyone know. Firstly, I've switched off my online booking. The reasoning for this was... my books are getting chaotic and it's just easier for me to work out timing for appointments myself at this point in time. Secondly, I've decided for the remainder of the year I will not be taking on any new clients. I appreciate and welcome new guests so much but I have very limited spaces for the remainder of the year and it's only fair to give my current clients first priority. I will post on my stories if I have last minute spots open for new clients. Lastly, I only have 5 appointments left for late nights and Saturdays for the rest of 2020. If you do have an appointment for a late night and need to cancel please do so asap so I can offer them to someone else. December Saturdays are already full and I currently have a waitlist for anyone who was needing them. 05.01.2022 Fun fact for your Thursday afternoon Before doing hair, art was my creative outlet. Drawing, painting, crafts, you name it I did it. Any birthday, Christmas, mother's or father's Day my family would get given homemade things. I even had birthday parties at spotlight. YEP, those were a thing we made pillows and placemats. I entered every colouring in competition at school, sent artworks in to Saturday Disney and one year won this awesome stationery box from Totally Wild fo...r drawing a picture of a macaw. Art was always a way to shut off from the world and be in my own little bubble. Although I don't have as much time now to commit to art, I still find so much joy in doing it. Yesterday I decided to download ProCreate and give digital drawing a go and here's the result.
