25.01.2022 Awesome raffle raising money for The Rainbow Paws Program. Tickets only $2!

24.01.2022 Today is World Elephant Day. World Elephant Day is an opportunity for people to learn more about the plight of these magnificent creatures and to do their bit ...to help save them. Elephants in Asia and Africa are in dire straits. Threats from poaching, illegal trafficking (and sometimes sadly from a legal trade) and their use in the tourism industry have seen their numbers plummet. They face extinction if we don’t act now. Sadly, baby elephants are captured from the wild and sold into the tourism industry. Asian elephants are trained, traded and used for entertainment in tourist parks and circuses, and also for illegal logging activities. These captive elephants are often mistreated, subject to horrific abuse and confined to sub-standard facilities without adequate veterinarian care. But we can all do our part to help protect these beautiful creatures - Support organisations such as David Sheldrick Wildlife Orphan Trust and Elephant Nature Park who care for orphaned elephants or provide sanctuary from those elephants rescued from the tourism and logging industry - NEVER ride an elephant or go to a show where elephants are forced to perform. - Educate yourself and then others about the issues facing these intelligent, caring, beautiful creatures. It is through eduction that we can achieve positive change. Remember - extinction is forever

18.01.2022 Hi everyone, DAS Poster: I have attached a poster for some great dogs looking for homes at Domestic Animal Services. The Facility appears quite full at the mom...ent so it would be wonderful if the pooches in the attached file can have some extra exposure please. I know a couple of them have been impounded for quite some time: Poor Skyline she’s been there since early April! She must be wondering if this is her new home? And Floki has also had a decent stint in the Pound. He has been there since early June. Let’s hope their luck is going to change VERY soon. Or if anyone knows of any rescue groups that can help them, please ask them to contact DAS. (Poster by Chris T) See more

If you are interested in meeting one of these gorgeo...us creatures, please contact Queanbeyan Pound or Domestic Animal Services. Their contact details are in the photos. Please share far and wide so we can help find them their forever homes.

05.01.2022 Hi everyone, QPRC AMF & Goulburn Mulwaree Animal Shelter Poster: Attached is a small poster of the current animals looking for new homes at the Animal Manageme...nt Facility in Queanbeyan and the Animal Shelter in Goulburn. There are only a couple of pooches (included are their temp notes and some lovely photos) as well as three beautiful kitties. Please poster them widely. They are all hoping to find a suitable happy ever after as quickly as poss. Iron Dog Rescue Poster (located in Bethungra near Cootamundra): I’ve also done a poster for Sue who does amazing work with all sorts of large breed dogs needing new homes. Sue currently has 4 stunning dogs available for adoption. They all require special homes and Sue is hoping that advertising through this network may provide their perfect match. There’s Irrepressible Jack a stunning Mastiff x rescued from DAS. Jack is not exactly a dog for the faint hearted but he is a really loving big youngster/ball of energy! He’s considered a work in progress but is doing well! As is Flynn the boy from Nambucca Pound. Flynn is a handsome Rottie/Kelpie x -- he has some anxiety issues which Sue is working on. Then there’s Harlem and Scout who are just new into care. Both also have some anxiety issues but they are coming along in leaps and bounds under the expert guidance of Sue’s wonderful Iron Dog Rescue crew (aka as her resident dogs!) I don’t have a lot of info on Harlem & Scout yet but Sue is taking EOIs. Check them all out in the attached IDR Poster. (poster by Chris T)

03.01.2022 WE ARE BACK !! The Pets in the Park Team are excited to announce we will be running our monthly clinic this Sunday 2 Aug 2020, behind the Early Morning Centre, ...from 2pm until 4pm. Restarting the clinics is only possible if we all adopt a few new COVID Safety Practices. Despite us wearing face masks you will tell that WE HAVE BIG SMILES AND ARE HAPPY TO BE BACK! Please read on if you are attending the clinic this weekend. For CLIENTS Welcome back! We have missed you and your pets. What you will notice is different: The area will be marked off to help us to coordinate arrivals and social distancing. The team will refrain from the usual hugs, handshakes and pet pats, sorry. Some Admin Staff (wearing High Vis) will greet you and guide you through the following steps: 1 - You will be asked if you have been unwell or have been to one of the COVID Hot Spots. 2 - You will be asked to use hand sanitiser. 3 - You will be given a face mask and asked to wear it while at the clinic. 4 - You will be asked to stay 1.5m away from everyone. 5 - You will be asked to take a seat while the Vets treat your pet. 6 - We will ask you to contact us if you feel unwell in the future. Please be patient because there could be quite a few clients. For ADMIN VOLUNTEERS Thanks for being available to help! If you are a ‘meet and greeter’ you will be asked to do the following: 1. Wear a High Vis and a face mask. 2. Provide a safety brief to the clients on arrival and run them through the steps listed above. 3. Direct them to the Admin Table for registration. 4. Help encourage social distancing and good hygiene. 5. Admin Table staff keep doing what you have always done (but wear a mask). For VET and VET NURSES You rock. Thanks for your time when we know you have been so busy with your day jobs. When you arrive you will receive a Safety Brief and then be asked to stay in your teams. You will also be asked to do the following: 1. Wear face masks and rubber gloves. 2. Identify clients who do not need to return next month and annotate this on their files. This will help thin the numbers in future months. There will be more emails to the team over the next couple of days. Buckle up.

01.01.2022 Oli is ready for adoption to a special home! Gorgeous Oli has been with us for about 7 months now and we feel he is about ready for adoption to the right home. ... Oli is a cracker of a cat. He is not a lap cat, or even a cat you can easily pat most of the time. If you get up in his space when he is not in the right mood or have no treat offerings he will absolutely hiss and growl to let you know to back off. He is generous with his warnings though and will not attack you unprovoked. He is a beautiful boy that has come so far and we are proud of how he is today. He absolutely loves other cats and he loves playing and rolling around on his back. He will happily have a treat from your hand once he knows you. We feel Oli would make a wonderful addition for a quiet home with another cat that might want a companion and where the humans will accept Oli as he is and will not mind that he won't be an affectionate cat. Unfortunately a home with children would not be suitable for him. He is untested with dogs but with slow introductions should be fine. If you are interested in finding more about Oli please send us a message.
