24.01.2022 Its taken me years to figure out what is something that has a really positive impact to my mood and also a positive and productive way to unwind. Since my ADHD diagnosis it makes sense movies and/or shows of great length do nothing for me, instead I remain fidgeting and spend more time scrolling on socials then watching the movie or show its not stimulating enough to hold my focus instead I end up complaining Im bored. Ask my boyfriend, he would be rich by now if he go...t $1 for every time I said I was bored and/or agitated because I couldnt sit for more then 10mins at a time. (Disclaimer: he doesnt contribute to my boredom, when we are relaxing, Im often bored). Being creative through drawing, painting, sewing, designing therapeutic programs, quotes, writing poetry or scoping out my one day book are things that I can get lost in for hours at a time and my concentration is next level I am curious to understand how you unwind and relax, what is your go-to things.
23.01.2022 Everyones always raving on about psychologists and how counsellors are lets just say plebs of the industry Everyone knows Im the biggest advocate for special/additional needs and I have a blooming business thats going on to 4 years in April 2021 because of my pleb-like approach Of late, Im really struggling to stay focused on the goal of registered psych because I have this deep calling to grow and evolve within the disability which I hate using space. ... Today, I had a new client who has a history of complex trauma, ASD and has been let down so much by professionals that for a long time has refused services, this person is only a teen. I was briefed prior to engaging that the session would be terrible and we would most likely not connect but was told please dont give up. I had a little anxiety going into the unknown and lets be fair was worried I might be putting myself into an unsafe situation. This afternoon the session in my opinion went better than expected, where the client who has ASD and has refused ongoing professional support from all psychologists, OTs, medical staff etc. walked me to the end of the school gate and said janelle, thank you, Im looking forward to you coming back next time. I would be lying if I didnt say that I got in my car and shed a tear. A tear for her bravery, her story but also because my intuition and ability to understand others never fails to let me down. (In most cases). Some people dont always connect with me and that is life but for the most part Ive established a brand that people want to connect with. This makes me question whether continuing to become a registered psych is really where I need to be right now as Im seriously contemplating a masters in Autism as well as a post-grad in positive behaviour support so I can write Behaviour Plans for my clients. Its evident, Bloom is making waves within the industry and within our local community so much so Ive had a few recent new clients book in and when we kick off the initial session, they spring on me they are a practicing Counsellor in the area and want my help to market their business Nothing like a session bomb I want to thank all of you for your continued support and your belief in Bloom because my team are really genuine and passionate about making a positive impact both within the community but also within your family.
23.01.2022 A big proud moment for Janelle this week During the middle of her uni semester, she also managed to complete two statement of attainments with the AIPC for Abuse Counselling and Expressive Therapy Counselling. This week the official certificates arrived in the mail and it was a beautiful reminder that hard work and determination does pay off in the long run, even if we cannot see it immediately.
23.01.2022 My boyfriend is THE best. He set up this beautiful table for me over the weekend whilst I worked. This space is where Ill be creative from sewing to painting to dreaming to growing. That is right, I work a lot over weekends because we have so many exciting things coming to Bloom. I wont lie, lately Ive been feeling really low in mood. Some days are better than others and I know that in order to recharge and take time out for myself without adding pressure to be doing more..., this is where I find strength to pick myself up and continue flourishing. As many know because Im vocal on my socials. I separated from my husband over 12 months ago. I left a marriage that was not healthy by any means and now Ive spent almost 10 months flying solo with baby cinnamon and a new man, Id be lying if I said life was always rosey dandy! Healing is not linear, you have good days but some really bad days that can last days, weeks or months. Its a very up and down process, where you feel like youre on a never ending roller coaster. This message is to all of you struggling but havent got the finances to seek additional support, for those that have reached out and didnt connect with their therapist, to those that know deep down they are unhappy but havent got the courage to leave (yet), to those questioning their relationship but havent come to the conclusion its not right for them. All of you, I see you, I understand you and most of all I am here for you! It takes great strength and bravery to walk away from something so familiar, so secure and so routine. However, we all deserve to feel safe, feel heard and most importantly to be loved and cared for in a respectful and safe way! Sending all you beauties love and strength
23.01.2022 Tonights art work all in your head! A brain dump of things that I have rolling around in my head, including pep talk reminders! Expressive therapy can be good for emotional healing. I have been scheduling some time weekly to get lost in the colours and just create and see what I can bring to life. ... I dont know where this hidden gem has been because I certainly wasnt creative like this a year ago! When you are surviving theres no time for anything else!
22.01.2022 This is one real happy gal Tonight was week 4 of my ASD expressive therapy class for teens. Tonight Alison and I ran the group and it was such a positive and rewarding moment for both of us. The group exchanged Instagram accounts, created a big group chat and spent more time laughing and chatting which was so god damn huge because tonight we saw friendships fostering, social skills being learnt and everyone enjoying themselves ... Tonight Alison Strudwick and I both left feeling so unbelievably grateful, humble and overwhelmed all in one. Ive always wanted to create a sense of community, a safe space for individuals to foster friendships but also to feel connected and included.
21.01.2022 Channelling my inner creative and matching my outfit because today we kick off week 3 of the expressive therapy program. One thing Ive noticed within myself is that how I dress, impacts my mood. There have been studied done surrounding colours and clothing vs mood. Ever since I stepped out to navigate and rebuild life in a new suburb, place and new belongings, it was an opportunity to start again and really ask myself what I actually love. It wasnt until my partner show...ed me Dangerfield a clothing store that is full of vibrant, weird and wonderful pieces that I was able to experiment and just have fun. When you spend time focusing on yourself, your needs and what you want, over time the deep guilt fades and you start to feel lighter, more joyful and your relationships can flourish. Happy Monday, I hope its bright

20.01.2022 Afternoon assessment writing on infant attachment and social information processing. A very interesting review surrounding infant attachment bonds and their later understanding and interpretation of social interactions with others.
18.01.2022 Keeping up to date with our First Aid Training and CPR. Both Alison and Janelle are refreshing their first aid certificates today with Wave Learning Campbelltown.
18.01.2022 **An important note for parents** Did you know that sometimes anger is expressed as a means of feelings of sadness and anxiousness. It is very common for a child on the spectrum to display more feelings of anger because they do not understand how to identify that they are sad and anxious. Remember that we all need to express our feelings to help us move through the uncomfortable but children on the spectrum are unable to identify their emotions and the sensations that are l...inked, therefore anger is what they display more often as a means of just expressing and getting the uncomfortable feeling out in that very moment. As a parent you can take an active role in being your childs emotional coach by attempting to understand your childs anger and not jumping in and being angry too. As an emotional coach, you can help your child identify and articulate what is causing them to be angry but first you need to validate and acknowledge you see their anger and that it is absolutely ok to be angry because it is a feeling like happy but the behaviour that follows such as hitting, punching, kicking, throwing or hurting someone else is the part that is NOT ok and together you can work on other healthy ways to release the feelings of anger where people do not get hurt and that is safe. When your child is angry, their executive functioning in the brain has become impaired and the brain has pretty much lets say "turned off". Your child is unable to make rational decisions and/or even hear you in this moment. The behaviours you may see that are not healthy are because of that reason, they are not able to make a logical decision at this point in time and just become extremely reactive. As an emotional coach parent, knowing your childs early sign to anger can help you know when to redirect early. This way you can support your child to a healthier form of expressing their anger before their brain "flips the lid" where they then cannot rationalise and/or comprehend in that very moment what you are saying to them. This can be very frustrating for all involved at this time but understand that they do not mean to do it but their brain has shut down. At Bloom we also offer counselling and coaching support to parents and/or carers to help you become your childs emotional coach. We aim to provide you with effective strategies and tools to equip you and build your confidence to manage your childs emotions in a more healthier way.
18.01.2022 Put your hand up if you experience constant fear of rejection and/or abandonment? Whether that is in your intimate relationship, with friends and/or in day to day life with people in general! I am going to share a little secret... ME TOO! My abandonment wound is BIG, it is the nasty side of me that I try my best to keep tame and hidden but when she comes out, she is nothing like the beautiful person I am..... she scares me. Feelings of rejection and abandonment sit deep withi...n the core of our being. Generally, it is entwined within the nervous system and this feeling can show up unannounced in a range of situations within interpersonal relationships. Over the next few weeks, I am doing a deep dive into understanding fear of rejection and abandonment where I aim to educate my current clients, share my own story and healings of rejection and abandonment, as well as educate you on different ways you can to start to heal this deep, painful wound. The fear of rejection is driven by a core schema and/or narrative that is linked to "I am unlovable". Feelings associated and hidden under feelings of rejection are "abandonment, shame and self-criticism". If you are someone who has experienced a difficult childhood through abuse, trauma, neglect and/or a ruptured relationship with a parent and/or caregiver, these are just some of the reasons why you could be experiencing fear of rejection in your relationships as an adult. This feeling is deep, its a feeling that most of my clients can not even attempt to explain and/or find a similar feeling to link it closely to. It is strong, painful, anxiety provoking and can really bring out aggressive like behaviours. Unless you are someone that too also experiences ongoing fear of rejection, you will never attempt to understand how it feels for the beholder. If you are someone that displays separation anxiety with a partner, has ongoing fears of rejection and/or abandonment and chronic feelings of "I am unlovable". I see you, I understand you and I am here for you!
17.01.2022 Alison and Tim is it acceptable if I arrive at the clinic in this attire tomorrow?

16.01.2022 Kids need more time outside than inside. Kids need to be able to spend time using their imagination. Screen time suppresses this component of the brain long term. Our Friday night art therapy program has been a hit where no client has taken a night off unless they have been sick. Everyone has arrived on time and stays until the very end. These clients have a history of not engaging in activities or programs but our expressive therapy program allows a safe small space to get ...lost in colour, feel connected and safe in a supportive environment. One client who had a history of calling his mother within 15 minutes of any program he has engaged in stays for the whole 1.5hrs every week. Hes developed a friend from the group where on Sunday they had their first play group outside of the program I was told a second play date has been scheduled. My heart is full, I could cry because Im creating safe spaces for people to feel connected even if they are parallel playing or learning. Company is just enough for some to feel connected during an isolating time.

16.01.2022 A special message from Alison Strudwick our Clinic Coordinator to all the special needs families out there, we see you and we understand you!
16.01.2022 On this very day, 12 months ago I left my husband, I walked out of my life and never went back! I waited for the perfect time to find strength and courage to start life again. Last night I was up until early hours of the morning painting. I was painting bright vibrant colours for the girl I am today! The girl who is the most authentic version of herself right now, who dresses so bright some days her own clients say her outfit choices make them smile or bring them happiness. ... Over 12 months ago I was running Bloom previously known as J Lorenzini Therapy and Wellness and work became my focus, my safety and my castle To all the beautiful people who feel trapped in a relationship that no longer brings them joy, makes them feel loved and instead as the weeks go by feel more and more lonely and disconnected. Everyones circumstances are different and leaving a relationship is a very difficult situation at the best of times. However, know you deserve so much more than what you tolerate or put up with on the daily! Lifes hard at the best of times but we still have some control even if we feel powerless.
14.01.2022 I created a remote control art piece this evening highlighting everything I am in control of... I am thinking of bringing this concept into my art programs in the next couple of weeks
14.01.2022 Who is interested in an online expressive therapy program? This program will be from the comfort of your home via zoom? I have had a lot of requests surrounding my expressive therapy programs and if I will be offering them online. ... If this is something you would potentially be interested in, comment below with a YES!
14.01.2022 Sewing kind of day! Bringing pink Percy my sewing machine out for a little practice run today
13.01.2022 This morning at 6am I did something extremely brave and out of my comfort zone. I rolled out of bed at 5:30am and walked up the street to Barre Fit where I completed a resistant workout combined with ballet movements. I only booked these classes online yesterday where Ive booked two weeks worth of 6am classes to ensure Im making time for myself both physically and mentally. Every body loves the feeling after a good workout and even though Ill be sore tomorrow it will be ...totally worth it! I could feel every unused muscle getting a workout this morning and the class was a small intimate group of approx 8. Sometimes you got to feel the fear and do it anyway
13.01.2022 My beautiful client who has ASD has created a small business and won an award at school for setting up a business with a small budget I wanted to support her and share this beautiful concept of dog and cat bandanas https://www.facebook.com/VHP-Victorias-happy-pets-105669650914944/
12.01.2022 My new little desk step up where all my beautiful art and sewing creations will take place Thank you to my beautiful boyfriend for spending this sunny Sunday putting it together so I can have a beautiful space to work in.
12.01.2022 Hows your Saturday going? Today I have a full day of uni work to get through including studying for two quizzes I have next week online. I need to take regular breaks in between tasks to ensure I can remain focused. This keeps me going when I know I have a break in between transitioning of tasks and even though my medication helps me stay focused, it doesnt help with self-motivation. I have learnt along the way that if I set up little 5-10min breaks in between and an hour... of something fun (such as painting). I can remain motivated and power through my workload. Tonight my boyfriend is coming over after doing 4 night shifts this week, its a blessing he is also studying Psychology because we both have a lot of uni work to do and he keeps me motivated. I wish I could say I am motivating but if anything I am a distraction and want all of his attention as I mostly feel like I am competing with Cinnamon whos obsessed with his daddy and also the computer screen aka University This little affirmation board needed updating, after many months of the same quotes you over time forget to look at them. Today I have handpicked gentle reminders that are relevant to where I am at and how I am feeling lately. One that stands out is I let go of the shadow of the past and my energy creates my reality. Im a big believer, what we focus on over time becomes our reality! Therefore Im constantly trying to find the goodness amongst the challenges that life throws. If we dont have the hard times, we can never appreciate the good times when they do come by but having the right support network, own tools to draw upon when your supports are unavailable as well as things that assist with self-soothing are key to navigating life! I hope you have a pleasant and sunny Saturday

11.01.2022 Hello, if anyone is planning to get rid of any LEGO or knows of anyone wanting to get rid of LEGO please let me know. I am in the process of designing LEGO therapy classes and the more LEGO I can get my hands on the better I would be forever grateful.... I have also gone out today and spent $100 as a starting point but this can get expensive fast. Thank you
11.01.2022 My creative project tonight that Ill be sharing with my teen group on Friday night. Tonight I wanted to practice some art and develop a concept for our program Friday night! Feelings come and go like waves, how do you ride the wave? This was my own little art piece of positive words, strategies and pep-talk reminders for my own anxiety!
09.01.2022 Janelle our Principal Counsellor has now found a new way to recharge in between client sessions. A cup of tea and her pink Nintendo Switch, playing Animal Crossing
08.01.2022 Language is powerful, and misuse of words can be unhelpful.
08.01.2022 I have taken off to spend the weekend with Cinnamon and headed to my parents at Black Head (Hallidays Point). This is my little afternoon set up where I can get on top of uni and catch up on some work
06.01.2022 Hows your morning going? Ill be playing around this afternoon being creative and also working on a uni assessment
05.01.2022 This morning I woke up at 5:30am, rolled out of bed sulking it was far too early, got changed and walked to Barre Fit for the 6am class. This was my second class this morning where we did a lot of ballet style moments with a ball and/or resistant bands strapped to a ballet style barre. What Ive noticed is that since Ive been getting up and exercising very early in the morning, it sets my mood up well and reduces levels of anxiety immediately. My ADHD medication also feels... like it works next level too and Im more productive and focused. Spring is certainly here for a little while and Im keen to find alternate ways to continue managing my mood and supporting my ADHD. How do you start your morning?
03.01.2022 Who would be keen for a 4 week online via zoom expressive art journaling session with water colour paints and prompts with me?Who would be keen for a 4 week online via zoom expressive art journaling session with water colour paints and prompts with me?

Theres no where I would rather be on a Friday night these days then with Cinnamon in the comfort of my apartment. oh and of course with my boyfriend but hes always working night shift
