25.01.2022 That mind body connection... From my history with anxiety and depression I have learnt that keeping my mind healthy and strong it aligned with my body feeling healthy and strong. Yes aesthetics are great (looking good is a win) but FEELING genuinely happy and loving your body and who you are from within is worth far more.... When ever I am feeling off mentally I check in with myself to see how I have been treating my body... usually on the back of a alcohol induced late night, poor diet or missed workouts. In short... Aim to exercise regularly, fuel your body with nutritious food, get adequate rest and sleep, surround yourself with good people and see positive results both physically and mentally. When you slack off, eat crap, abuse your body and have too many late nights etc be prepared that your mental health may also be affected. We all have up and down days... the key is to recognise how your actions affect your mood and put a plan in place for this. Mine is to eat an 80/20 diet, to move my body atleast every 2-3days and get 8 hours sleep at night. Especially during the silly season it’s important to keep consistent with your self care but also live your life... enjoy that champagne, eat the burgers and have lazy rest days! And you can too Did you know that you can actually feel more satisfied with your meal when it looks visually appealing and contains a variety of colours as opposed to a dish lacking colour and that has been slapped together rather than plated with love ... You eat with your eyes first so it makes sense your already telling your brain how good the food will taste before that first forkful has even reached your mouth! For breaky I always base my plate with wilted spinach, some cooked veggies from mushrooms, asparagus, pumpkin, avocado etc, GF toast, eggs, salmon and home made beetroot hommus (my current obsession) I'm trying to work out if its the taste I love or the fact it looks so pretty on my plate #breakfastideas #eattherainbow #eatwithyoureyes #brunch #nutrition #wholefoods

21.01.2022 L O W E R - B O D Y P R O G R A M As much as it’s been great taking 2 weeks off of training it has been killing me not being able to post some home workouts for you all Yesterday I got the all clear from my surgeon to start doing some low impact, lower body work yayyyy ... So here is a little workout I put together that’s easy for you to do at home with minimal equipment. No problems if you don’t have a band just do it without and add a few extra reps. - Banded Crab Walks - Banded Squats - Lateral Lunges - Goodmornings - Curtsy Lunges - Lunge Kicks Alternate each pair of exercises for 15-20 reps, for 3 rounds. 18.01.2022 THE COVID KILOS Yep those few extra kg's many of us seem to have found over the past few months. Its actually become a talking topic... when you ask 'so how did you find Covid isolation'... the answer more often then not includes good, the bad and that pesky weight gain. A change in our daily habits, work/home routine, gym access, boredom/comfort eating etc has a flow on affect with our energy input and expenditure and unfortunately a change in lifestyle has been forced upon ...us. What I want to say is that these extra kilos don't mean you are lazy, they don't mean you are fat, or unworthy or any of the other negative thoughts that may appear in your mind. This extra weight doesn't define you as a person nor does it mean you now need to go on a 'diet or seek a quick fix. Returning to some regular exercise and eating a balanced diet with an abundance of fresh whole foods will see you dropping the kilos and returning to your happy, healthy weight in realistic, achievable time. Why not take this time to access your current fitness and make some new goals or challenges for yourself, stay accountable by exercising with a friend or sign up with a PT or new gym. I'm proud to say that I'm 5kg heavier since Covid began and that is totally OK. I am exercising regularly again now and I am happy with my balanced diet. I have put the scales away and instead of weight loss I am focusing on feeling good on the inside and strong with my training. With this approach I know my body will reward me with a leaner and stronger physique ovwr time without the pressure from the number on the scales. Weight gain does not equal unhappiness just as weight loss does not equal happiness. 08.01.2022 U N C O O K E D L U N C H E S I am currently on day 5 with a oven and stove that needs replacing... So my meals are getting rather creative. I didnt realise how much I relied on them. I felt like scrambled eggs... nope, pancakes... nope, tofu... nope, pasta.. nope, banana bread... nope, roast sweet potato... nope, soup... nope... you get the picture. So as you can imagine I''ve been heating up alot of freezer meals in the microwave... and toast.. there has been alot of toas...t consumed.. and cereal After my workout thismorning I needed some protein and my body was craving some greens. Salad I thought while rain was pouring down on my roof... nahh too cold for that.. I need something warm and there I was again back missing my kitchen appliances. I always have some prepaid falafels in the fridge ready for a quick meal so today's lunch consisted of... warmed falafels, spinach and tomatoes with toast, avocado, hummus and pepitas. All the macros and flavour and I only used the bowl I ate from to prepare it all... winning! 08.01.2022 C H E A T S S T I R - F R Y This recipe came about after I ran out of all fresh ingredients in my fridge (excluding a cabbage and 2 sad carrots) and wanted to make something healthy for me and my boys. There is also only so many nights you can have eggs on toast... well until you run out of eggs like I did ... I want to share it with you as it’s so easy to make, its full of flavour and it also supports a healthy immune system. INGREDIENTS 1 packet frozen vegetables (fresh preffered) 1 packet rice noodles 1/2 Cup cashews 1 packet tofu (I used @woolworths_au macro satay) Flavour with garlic, ginger, turmeric, tamari (chilli optional) METHOD - Defrost vegetables, cook noodles, fry tofu seperately. - Stir fry all ingredients together and place cooked tofu on top. #stirfrynoodles #cleaneating #budgetrecipes #familyrecipes #nutritionadvice #covidfriendly #veganrecipes
