23.01.2022 I bought some of Abundance Farms giant Empress eggs a couple of days ago. Husband Roy decided he’d have one for breakfast. It didn’t fit in the egg cup so he used one of our desert ramekins. He usually has two eggs but said this one was enough.

23.01.2022 Our regular supplier of citrus and avocado, Frank Barone is short of stock. Sultana Girl has stepped into his place supplying delicious organic oranges as well as her great sultanas. I have managed to find an avocado supplier at the local farmers markets. Garry from Best Avocado. I was thrilled to find a variety other than Hass, as the other types all have lovely creamy flesh that stays green, I find Hass goes black quite quickly but they seem to be the most commonly grown and sometimes theres nothing else. Avos must be going out of season as they are getting more expensive, but hopefully production will improve and prices will become lower. The variety I have now are Wurtz but I spelt it wrong on the sign. I laughed at the imagery Wurst by Bestand just had to share this photo before I change the spelling!

23.01.2022 Look what we saw in our nursery this morning. An Eastern Spinebill.

22.01.2022 For too long I have ignored those texts that tell me that the number of friends I receive notification of posts is limited and I need to do something to see more. Now Im expecting to see updates from Farmers Markets and other producers whose pages I have liked but not seeing anything. It would be so convenient not to have to go searching for each page, just to find many have not been updated. I need to buy more of their delicious, chemical free fruit, vegetables and other produce. Can anyone please tell me what I need to do to make sure I get notifications from all the pages I have liked and followed.

14.01.2022 Early this year I visited Daylesford Sunday Market and met Chris de Brueys. A young man who is passionate about his Acheive Peak Health products. When he told me about the benefits of his Stresseze Lotion I thought it was just what my husband, Roy needed. He was not sleeping well and seemed rather depressed and moody. I decided it was worth a try. Each evening before he went to bed I would massage Stresseze into his shoulders and neck areas where the muscles felt very tig...ht. It slowly seemed to improve tension in that area and he could turn his head easier he was sleeping better and his mood is much improved. One other benefit I had not expected was the improvement to his breathing and even mine as I massaged the Stresseze, the scent cleared my sinuses. We both breathe and sleep better now - with much less snoring, from either of us! Recently we ran out and I decided I needed to buy more. As the markets are closed to help stop the spread of Covid 19 I had to search online to buy more. I discovered Chriss website and was about to order another bottle when it struck me. Why keep this to myself? I should share Stresseze and other products with my customers. So I talked to Chris and I now have a range of his products in stock. Come in and and check them out. See more

12.01.2022 Daffodil Cancer Fundraiser. $10 a bunch. Here at Bloomin Fresh

12.01.2022 Early last year I planted a fig tree in a pot. When I bought the tree it had one fruit on it, it stayed looking green and after the tree lost its leaves the fig finally off. This year theres two figs and one is huge and getting some colour so I decided to google when should I pick my figs? Knowing a few of my customers had also bought fig trees from me I thought they might be unsure too so here is the answer: Wait until the figs are ripe to harvest. Figs will not continu...e to ripen after they are picked like many other fruits. You can tell that it is time for harvesting figs when the fruit necks wilt and the fruits hang down. If you pick a fig fruit too early, it will taste horrible; ripe fruit is sweet and delicious. Grown in a pot this fig tree will grow to 1 metre high and 1 metre wide, in the ground 3 metres high x 3 metres wide. Next winter its definitely going in the ground. See more

08.01.2022 It was so cold and frosty this morning that only a drip of water came out of then tap this morning at 5:30. Had to leave the tap dripping for ten minutes before it defrosted. At 10:15 I checked on the chooks, they had knocked over one water container. I went to fill it from a bucket I had nearby. I had to move a thick layer of ice to access the water. One of my Araucana hens is moulting, poor thing, I bet she is noticing the cold.

01.01.2022 I can remember my mother scraping the dark coloured spots off the cauliflower curds. My parents used to grown most of our vegetables and I simply assumed it was the waay cauliflowers grew and mum would remove them to make the vegetables look more presentable on our plates. That was in the days when carrots and potatoes were always peeled, now I simply scrub these to remove the dirt because we all know just under the skin is higher in nutrition and they seem even tastier with ...the skins on. Now I sell chemical free vegetables and I look at the discolouration on the cauliflowers and decide no-one will buy them looking like that so I take them home, scrape off the discolourations and blanch and freeze them. My freezer has a lot of cauliflower in it, despite having cauliflower and potato mash with some meals. I try to avoid waste so was cutting up one to cook up with other food scrap and crushed barley for my chickens(at least I get eggs from my hens) and decided to research the latest knowledge on these dark spots. So here it is. Dont waste the Cauliflowers. Read all about now. See more
