19.01.2022 Hello everyone! I hope you've been ok during this time and that you've been looking out for each other. I hope things haven't been too difficult. This is what I've been up to in the midst of this crisis-... As much I love playing to an adult audiences this is where my heart is taking me. I've always worked with children and fusing my love of singing and songwriting with a love of helping children grow has resulted in... Mr Blooming! This is a project I've been developing to help children connect to their imaginations and creativity in a powerful way and connect with them in a way where we can grow and explore the world together. Along the way we'll be learning how to meditate, manage our feelings and connect with ourselves and others in healthy ways. If you have children, I'd love to hear their thoughts and your thoughts on these songs and this content. For now I'll be posting the videos on this page but I'd like to invite to move over to some other social media I'm currently developing. :)

You're a fruit of labour passed through countless hands and you received so much investment of time energy and money. So what now? What to do with you when the City can't breathe the way it once did? When people can't gather to get the full sense of what I wanted for you? ... I want to bring you into the sunlight! Share you with the world... and move to make even more! Music is for sharing. It's been time for a long time now. I'm not sure how to release The City Breathes, but the time will come to share the music and the energy I wanted to offer you. I'll know soon enough. 15.01.2022 ASKING QUESTIONS - HOW TO WRITE OR CREATE ANYTHING- I've been writing a lot recently and I've been thinking about the writing process I go through to the completion of a song. This is also the result of often meeting people who ask me how I 'come up' with a song. They are often people who haven't really written anything or see themselves in anyway 'creative' and see this as special. That I must be special. And that I'm doing something mystical.... For some reason they seem to think that writing a song, coming up with a melody and lyrics is some sort of miraculous thing. Don't get me wrong- I think the how we each individually express ourselves from everything we've lived, learned, loved, avoided, is truly magical. But being creative and coming up with something is not a mystery. It's not mystical. It's just making stuff up. How though? That's a better question. Old mate Aristotle stated that nature abhors a vacuum. From my own experience of creativity, I agree with old mate. We'll always find our ways to fill space created by a void. The way we create anything is through asking a question to ourselves and waiting. Asking a question creates a void in our mind and when we ask something, answers rush in. But it's about asking the right, specific questions. When I write a song, I just ask questions. What kind of song would I like to create? What's the story of the song? Is there a character in my song? Is there a genre? And then I go with the very first thing you get- It's a sad song. About a cowboy. It's country western. Simple. If you're a total beginner to songwriting, I get it- You don't know the chords and you might not know how to define a genre. You might not know much about storytelling either. So you need a starting question. First- You acknowledge you want to write a song and then you can say- "What's the first note sung on this song?" If you've got a guitar- Where do my fingers want to start playing? Lyrics- What's the first word of this song? Story- What images come to mind when I think about my song? Emotionality- When I think of this song how am I feeling? Write with that feeling inside of you. The greatest of all questions to ask is- Then what comes next? These are the starting points I followed to completing two entire EPs and countless other songs. There's nothing special about asking questions. What's special is the answer we each individually receive from those questions. And this applies to painting- What's the colour I want to use? The kind of brush? What's the first line? Writing a poem- What's the first word? What's the next one? Is there someone this poem could be about? Questioning can (And I think SHOULD) be applied to all our creativity.
