25.01.2022 WAHM life is far from clean and simple! I try and keep #tommygc out of the sewing room as this is the first thing that happens every time. Its a quick clean but stepping on a rouge metal snap is far from pleasant.... With work and child raising becoming a juggle during covid lockdown, having a second child and the toddler dropping his day nap, sewing has come to a bit of a stop. All orders are being finished and there is still some stock available (EOFY Sale soon!!) but after that we will be focusing on fabric! Alllllll the pretties will be chosen and put up in pre order rounds for you, but they will only be available in PUL. Weve got a review coming from @mypinkdaffodil and cant wait to show our prints. Each round will have around three prints of the same theme but in different styles. AND we have Australian artist @illyri.art dropping two original prints for you all. 20.01.2022 The MS 50k! The MS events have always been dear to me, we all did the MS read-a-thon back in primary school or walk-a-thon around the school oval. A few years back I completed the 40km MS bike ride with my MIL, which ended up being 50km after we got lost with a fair few other participants! We even got to ride across the Westgate Bridge, which was pretty bloody cool. This time Ive decided to do the May 50k, except Ive pledged to walk 100km within the month. I know I can do 5...0, but I want a challenge. With two boys, 2.5yo and 4mo, a challenge it will be!! I want to do this for myself to get back into shape post kids but to also support people with MS. Two years back my cousin was diagnosed with MS. He rapidly had vision impairment and as a chef was unable to work, his health rapidly changed as well as his families finances. Progress has been made through research, research that has been conducted thanks to donations from these events. Together we can raise the funds to help find a cure for MS. To help diagnosed families through the painful times, and bring them back to normal life. Together we are actually making a change. Id love to see some of the #blossombums community support this great cause. Weve all saved money on nappies and have helped the earth, now its time to throw a few coins in for a great cause. 20.01.2022 Well autumn seemed to have given up on us this year and weve gone straight into winter this weekend! The wind, rain and low temps are a shock to the system, time to get the ducted fixed we think!! Today we have baked more bread, made cookies, started making stock - to be soup for tonights dinner. There has been some playing with blocks and a dishes washing episode that kept Tommy focused for quite some time!... Yesterday was a fun day of sewing, using up fabric from the stash to make pram covers in beautiful vibratant colours. 18.01.2022 With the current corona virus situation we are experienced long delays with our Alva Baby nappy orders. They are entering Australia BUT slowing down then. Australia Post is struggling to keep up with the increase in demand and are no longer updating tracking details. Please be calm at this stage. Our pram covers help keep the sun out of babes eyes as they walk around the block, shaking off the cobwebs or trining to get bub to sleep.... 18.01.2022 Went sent some Heavy Cotton Lycra up to FNQ so Paisley at @consciousparentingmovement could strike test the next base to be added to our line up! Heres what she had to say: -STRIKE SEW, COTTON LYCRA- ... First... QUALITY: The fabric quality is crazy, I use so many different fabrics from many businesses, but this fabric is TOP quality. The Print is phenomenal, so crisp and so bright. Ive done a wash with another print that is darker and even after being washed it looks just as good as it did before washing. This is a heavier GSM at 270; which feels divine and so soft, theres a possibility that it is too heavy and going to be too hot for leggings in the tropics, but I think that this might just make them viable pants anywhere else in the country! THE PRINT... Well, it speaks for itself! WOW! Im blown away and may have just ordered 14m of the CL for other projects haha! Paisley has sewn for majority of her life and is also a yoga instructor - so who do you go to for yoga pants...!! 08.01.2022 So... Alva Baby have changed things a little bit. They are still taking orders, still shipping out and actually have great stock levels ATM, but... They are among accepting orders of twenty nappies or more.... We are happy to take any orders for ten packs, but we wont be able to submit the order until we hit the 20 mark. Love From Tyler After my eldest daughter, Tyler was born, I created the business to sell baby accessories like bibs, burp cloths, teething toys etc. when I went back to work & fell pregnant with my second, I wasn’t able to continue the business until when my youngest, Leon was around 10 months, we were about 7 months into cloth Nappies & obsessed, so I decided to make my own..., it took about 6-8 months to actually start the business back up & focusing predominantly on modern cloth Nappies How did your logo come about? Our products focus on being environmentally friendly, down to the presentation of the final product & even the shipping bags they are sent in. Our logo is of a bee, a detrimental little friend to the environment & plus they’re really cute When did you get into sewing? Just after my first was born, I was a stay at home mum & needed a hobby to keep my busy (because I was crazy & didn’t think a newborn kept me busy enough) I was gifted my first vintage machine which very soon turned into a brand new machine & overlocker for Christmas that year! What’s your fave part about sewing? The escape. Like after the kids are in bed, I can switch off & put all my focus into my hands & the product I’m creating. I love it. What’s the best part about being a WAHM? The community. The people are amazing & that sense of community is strong. Everyone is always available to chat or give advice! What’s the worst part about being a WAHM? Having friends from all over the country & not being able to meet in person How do you juggle the kids while sewing?
