25.01.2022 Kaye is back in Denmark after her recent surgery, and will soon be back at Blossoms sprinkling her sunshine on all of us. Sincere thanks for all your love and support What a wonderful community we have!

25.01.2022 Blossoms has proteas in stock for just $10 each. Yes, you heard correctly. Protea cynaroides and Protea neriifolia in 75mm pots. Plant size to 25cm. This is not a drill. Although you saw it here first.

25.01.2022 Tip # 2 for surviving the coming apocalypse. Picture this: Toilet paper ran out months ago; it is late autumn so all the leaves have fallen from the trees; the supermarkets have run out of lettuce and cabbage, so there is nothing left to wipe your dot with except bacon rashers. Talk about a vegan's worst nightmare! Blossoms to the rescue. We have a wonderful selection of autumn and winter leafy vegetables to help you solve your problem. Heck, you can even eat them.

24.01.2022 Ginkgo trees, also known as maidenhair trees and duck's foot trees, appear in the fossil record from the early Jurassic period. Living for up to 2,500 years, ginkgos are quite a large tree, growing 20 - 50 metres tall. Their most striking feature is the spectacular saffron-yellow colour they turn in the autumn. Ginkgos perform well on windy sites, and are resistant to disease and insect pests. Now available at Blossoms, your local nursery.

23.01.2022 Social distancing can take a heavy toll. If you lie awake at night fantasizing about voluptuous curves, buff-coloured skin, firm white flesh, and deep exotic eyes, then Blossoms may be able to provide some relief for you: Our new shipment of potatoes has arrived! We have Atlantic, Mozart, Norland and Royal Blue varieties, as well as the fertilizers and mulches to ensure a happy ending. Blossoms will be open Friday 9 - 12, and Saturday 9 - 4.

22.01.2022 Gird your loins: the seedlings are coming. Blossoms has a limited number of veg. seedlings coming. Half will be available from 9am Wednesday, and the other half from 9am Thursday. Remember: shopping for seedlings is a no - body - contact sport. Not only is there to be no eye-gouging or biting, but you must maintain a 2m distance from your fellow shoppers. Let the games begin.

21.01.2022 Astatine is the rarest element in the universe, with less than 1 gram present in the earth's crust at any given time. Vegetable seedlings run a close second. As you know, nurseries cannot keep up with the current demand for vegetable seedlings. Here at Blossoms we are doing our best to keep you supplied, but are asking for your help: Only buy as much as you need. We are very happy to divide punnets for you. If you have self-sown seedlings in your garden, share with your frien...ds and neighbours. Phone us before coming in to check our stock levels. In the coming months gardening may be the only thing which keeps some of us sane, so even if you are unable to come in to Blossoms, feel free to phone us to arrange a delivery of seedlings or anything else we can help you with. As the shop counter may be unattended for periods in the short term, call Don on 0421 359 419. Let's look after each other. See more

21.01.2022 Using a hose can be a challenge for some people, but I'm sure pretty-boy here has other talents. Although it is Autumn, your plants will still need regular watering through the warm weather, and will benefit from a feed as well. As the weather cools, your plants - particularly your indoor plants - will require far less water. Come in to Blossoms to discuss any of your gardening requirements. No, I can't give you his phone number.

20.01.2022 Here at Blossoms we are always trying to bring you the best in edibles, natives and exotics. Just landed is our latest gallery of unusual climbing plants. Pictured are Hoya kerrii variegata, Hoya kerrii, Ceropegia radicans, and Indian rope hoya. See you at Blossoms.

20.01.2022 Silver Birch trees are loved for their spectacular white bark as much as their graceful weeping habit. Blossoms has 6 beautiful birches in stock. They are 2.5m tall, in 20 litre bags (so they are easy to transport) and cost just $45 each. See you at Blossoms.

20.01.2022 Here at Blossoms we won't hide our best assets. Drop in to have a good look at our impressive range of citrus: Mandarins (Afourer, Nules, Hickson, Emperor, Imperial, Maestro, Japanese Seedless), Oranges (Summer navel, Seville, Blood Orange, Lane's Late), Lemons, Kaffir Limes, Buddha's Hands, and the long-awaited Yuzu. We'll show you a whole lot more than our Navel.

19.01.2022 Public Announcement from Blossoms. This coming Saturday is World Naked Gardening Day. Honestly, it is. Check for yourself. Let's have some fun: send us a photo of yourself and/or your significant other in your garden. But please make sure your pink bits are covered. Sunscreen is a good idea, but think carefully about who you ask to apply it. Don't want to scare the neighbours.... Here is some inspiration to get you started: See more

17.01.2022 Not sure what to do with your partridge this Christmas? Blossoms is here to help. We have a beautiful range of pear trees on special. Capital and Cleveland Select over 2.5m tall normally $70, now $35. Unfortunately, because some of our customers are lactose intolerant, we can't help you with the 8 maids a-milking. Blossoms is open 9 to 4 every day except Christmas day and Boxing day.

17.01.2022 Every fun girl needs a fun guy. This is where Blossoms can help: we have grow-your-own oyster mushroom kits in stock. Normally $39.95, now selling for $22. You have my permission to keep this fungi in the dark. Blossoms is open today from 9 to 4.

17.01.2022 Looking for a statement tree? Well, look no further. Blossoms has Giant Sequoia in stock. Some statistics: lifespan over 3,500 years; height to 95 metres; total weight to 2,000 tonnes; base diameter to 11 metres; bark to 90cm thick. Pretty impressive statement.

15.01.2022 "Wear your jim-jams to the nursery day" has been changed to Thursday. Be at Blossoms any time after 6:30 am on Thursday to collect your vegie seedlings. Wear your pyjamas and you will receive a free music cd. Wear the best pyjamas of the day and you will also get your seedlings for free. But please: no bananas in your pyjamas. Here is some more inspiration:

15.01.2022 That's not a bougainvillea... this is a bougainvillea. Newly released, this bougainvillea is not only tough, beautiful and evergreen, but is also semi-thornless and FRAGRANT. Give it full sun, well-drained soil, and a little love, and this will be an ideal screen or specimen tree. Now available at Blossoms, your local nursery.

15.01.2022 The highlight of last week's seedling free-for-all was young Banjo here, rocking his PJs, and accessorizing beautifully with a banana and his box of seedlings. I will let you know if there are any changes, but I intend to open the gates at 6:30 again this Wednesday. Anyone who wears their pyjamas to Blossoms can choose a free music c.d. from the "What happened in your year" collection. The best pyjamas of the morning will get a c.d., plus their seedlings for free. And of course, a photo on our facebook page. Let the games begin.

15.01.2022 Need a cuddle but the social distancing laws won't allow it? Is your intimate other bunkered down in Denmark, tantalisingly out of reach? You could send your partner a special gift to let them know what's on your mind. Blossoms will wrap your gift and deliver anywhere in Denmark. Plants, giftware, body care, gift vouchers, gift baskets: just let us know how we can help.

14.01.2022 It is a great time to select and plant deciduous trees: you can see exactly what colours you are getting, and the coming rain will ensure they are settled in and off to a flying start in the Springtime. Blossoms has a spectacular range for you: Claret Ash over 2m tall for $40 Silver Birch over 2.4m tall for $40 Liquidambar over 1.8m tall for $40... Plus Golden Ash, Forest Pansy, Stella Cherry and more. See more

14.01.2022 Blossoms. Tip #1 for surviving the coming apocalypse: Don't worry if you run out of toilet paper, because Blossoms has a range of soft-leaf plants to fill the gap. Lettuce, hydrangea, aspidistra, fig (can be a little scratchy), mulberry and many more. Just be sure to pick them off the tree before using them.... Blossoms: we're here to help. See more

14.01.2022 Reed my lips. Rich, bold and nutty with a buttery texture, Reed avocados are widely regarded as the best-tasting of them all, and are ideally suited to our Great Southern climate. Now available at Blossoms, along with Fuerte, Hass, Pinkerton, Bacon and Zutano.

13.01.2022 Morning ladies. Still unsure if it's worth going to Blossoms early tomorrow morning? Here's something to help you decide. Unfortunately many of these plants lose their leaves in the colder weather. I thought so. See you there.

13.01.2022 5G promotes resistance to Coronavirus. Germinate Grow Garden Gather... Give Gardening strengthens your immune system, promotes better health, and improves longevity. It also makes you irresistible to members of the opposite sex. O.K. I made that last bit up. Blossoms is open 7 days per week 9am to 4pm, or by appointment. See more

12.01.2022 Bush tucker. Midyim berries are a sweet, aromatic indigenous fruit with a gingery flavour. Growing to about 1m x 1m, the bushes will tolerate part shade or full sun. Native lemongrass has been used by aboriginal people for medicinal and cooking purposes for thousands of years. It can be used fresh, frozen for later use, or dried. Both are now available at Blossoms, your local nursery. Blossoms will be open tomorrow (Monday) from 9 - 4.

12.01.2022 The bad news is that the vegie seedlings won't be arriving at Blossoms until Thursday morning (the 6:30 start still stands). The good news is that you have an extra day to get your pyjamas in order. Here is some inspiration:

12.01.2022 Figs have long been considered an aphrodisiac: think of their arousing appearance, sexy smell, tantalising taste, their erotic texture (sorry, I'm getting a little carried away here). D. H. Lawrence wrote a poem about their "moist, scarlet lips". Blossoms has a very satisfying display of fig trees in stock: Saint Dominique Violette, Strawberry Kingasava, Brown Turkey, Black Genoa, Esperance Heritage, Adam, White Adriatic, and Sweet Temptation. Surrender: you know you want to.

11.01.2022 Our last load of deciduous trees sold out within 2 days (disappointed sigh). But, (excited gasp) Blossoms has just taken delivery of another spectacular forest of colour: Ginkgo for $30. Prunus 'Kanzan'(pictured), Golden Ash, Liquidamber for $40. Purple flowering plum, Cercis Forest Pansy (blossoms pictured), Golden Elm, Gleditsia Sunburst, Ornamental Pear, Simon's Poplar and Silver Birch for $45. (Cheers).

11.01.2022 These only come up once in a blue moon. Blossoms has 1 only Blue Watermelon Peperomia available for $75. Feel free to drop in for a look.

10.01.2022 Like everyone else, I am spending a great deal of my time wondering how best to protect myself, my family, and my community. Overwhelmingly, the best scientific advice is to minimize contact. We have decided to close Blossoms while we try to devise safe strategies for serving the people of Denmark. Home deliveries will be one such strategy. We expect to be open on Wednesday so we can supply much-needed vegetable seedlings, and will let you know whatever restrictions we put in... place. While we would love to stay open, we want to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. Please phone Don anytime on 0421 359 419 if you require any assistance. Let's look after each other. See more

08.01.2022 So long as the delivery truck doesn't get hijacked at the border, our vegie seedlings will be on the tables at Blossoms first thing tomorrow morning. The days are getting shorter, so let's make it 7am. See you then!

08.01.2022 Last week's "wear your jim-jams to the nursery" day was a great success, as you can tell from these photos. This week's seedlings SHOULD be arriving at Blossoms on Wednesday morning, but I will confirm this on facebook tomorrow. I am looking for suggestions for another theme for a seedling morning. Just keep it clean.

07.01.2022 Had to cancel your trip to Tasmania because of Covid? Well, all is not lost, because Blossoms can help you bring Tasmania into your backyard. We have Huon Pine, Celerytop pine, and Tasmanian Pepperbush in stock.

06.01.2022 Fancy a cup of tea? Blossoms now has tea camellias (camellia sinensis) in stock. See you at your local nursery.

04.01.2022 Meet the locals. Royal Hakea grows in a small band along our south coast. As you can see, the foliage is spectacular. Blossoms has a selection of tubestock native plants including rare and endangered locals. We also have Hakea laurina (the pincushion hakea). See you at Blossoms.

03.01.2022 Blossoms has a new range of beautiful unusuals. Come on in - we would love to see you. Our new opening hours are Wednesday to Sunday 9 am to 4 pm.

03.01.2022 Valentine's Day is nearly here. Nothing says "I love you" like a 100 litre bale of lupin mulch, now on special at Blossoms for just $28. If your beloved is not a gardener, we also have a beautiful range of Australian organic skin care products to set the tone for a romantic evening. Blossoms: we've got you covered.

03.01.2022 Coronapocalypse diary entry #256 19th December 2020 The supermarket shelves are long since empty, the last feral cat in Denmark was eaten weeks ago; there is not a skerrick of seaweed left on the beach, and the remaining seagulls are looking very nervous. Thank goodness I went to Blossoms last March. My family and I are feasting on home-grown blueberries, avocados, pineapples, guavas, pomegranates and a whole lot more.... Thanks, Blossoms. This apocalypse thing isn't so bad. See more

02.01.2022 The leaves and berries of Tasmanian Pepperberry bushes can be used to flavour curries, sauces, dressings and cheeses. In Japan it is used to add spice to wasabi. Also known as Mountain Pepper, it is prized by indigenous peoples for its medicinal properties: it is used to treat colic, stomach aches, skin disorders and toothache. Tasmanian pepperberry has 4 times the anti-oxidants of blueberries, and has strong anti-microbial properties which make it effective at preventing food spoilage. Blossoms' limited stock of this wonderful native plant will be ready for sale in 5 - 6 weeks, but we are currently taking orders.

01.01.2022 If you need to catch a few Zeds, come in to Blossoms. We have a limited stock of Raven Zamioculcas (that's right: the legendary Black ZZ). These are a special order, and we don't know if or when we may be able to get more. See you at Blossoms - your local nursery.
