18.01.2022 *COVID-19* - Update for Clients To all our wonderful Blossomtree families, we would like to ask a few things of you at the current time. We LOVE to see you all, and we enjoy seeing families playing together in the waiting room.... However, given current advice regarding COVID-19, we ask that you limit the amount of people that come into our waiting room. Where possible, please only bring the essential people to your appointments. If you must bring others to your appointment, please consider going for a walk, to a cafe, or even just sitting in the car where possible during your childs session if you are not required to be in the room with them. Alex can contact you via phone if necessary. While this is not our usual practice, this keeps our clients and staff from being at higher risk than necessary and means we can continue to provide you all a very needed service at this time. If you are sick in any way, please cancel your appointment. Please ensure anyone else attending with you is also well, if they are not they will be asked to leave the office. When in our waiting room, please try your best to stick to the recommendations of distancing yourself from others and washing your hands regularly. Alex is wandering around the office frequently disinfecting surfaces that are touched often and we are doing all we can to try to help flatten the curve. We appreciate your understanding at this time and hope you will join with us in doing these simple things to help flatten the curve. If you have any queries or concerns about any of this please dont hesitate to contact our office. A huge thank you to you all in helping ensure we can continue to provide our service to our local community.

06.01.2022 Thats a wrap!! On behalf of Jess and I, wed like to thank all the teachers who came to our professional development days on Teaching the Traumatised Child. The feedback we have received has been outstanding and so helpful as we move forward. Yes... future sessions of this will run for a longer time frame to capitalise on all the infomation and ensure everyone gets to try all the activies. You read right.... there will be more sessions in 2020 and further sessions advanc...ing on some of today and Augusts learning. As I said to the group I trained today - we at Blossomtree Psychology have profound respect for you all in your roles as teachers and the impact and legacy you can have in the life of a traumatised child. Ill leave you with Rita Peirsons TED Talk again to remind you of the incredible role and opportunity you play in the lives of children. You are educators and you make a difference!! Remember: being with your traumatised or attachment disrupted students in an emotional safe, co-regulating and scaffolding relationship is sometimes enough. We hope youve taken away great ideas and provoked your thinking about other ways to regulate the kids you teach. So go forward from your learing today and in the words of my champion: CREATE A FUTURE THAT TOUCHES THE LIVES OF OTHERS.

03.01.2022 Telehealth: What is it? Am I or my child eligible? We've had lots of questions about the Telehealth option for sessions in light of Covid-19. We want to be really clear that not everyone is eligible to get a Medicare rebate for a Telehealth session at this point in time. What does this mean?... If you want to have a webinar or phone session at the moment, you are only eligible for a Medicare Rebate if the following conditions apply: * the client has been diagnosed with Covid-19 but isn't a patient in a hospital * the client has been asked to isolate themselves in quarantine in accordance with home isolation guidance * the client is considered more susceptible to the COVID-19 virus being a person who is: a. at least 70 years old; or b. at least 50 years old and is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; or c. is pregnant; or d. is a parent of a child under 12 months; or e. is already under treatment for chronic health conditions or is immune compromised ( written advice from the GP is required for this). * the person meets the current national triage protocol criteria for suspected COVID-19 infection. The only other way we can bulk bill and use Telehealth is if your therapist has been isolated due to possible Covid-19 virus infection meet is well enough to to work from home. Should you wish to have a webinar or phone session and the above criteria do not apply then the session will incur a normal fee without a Medicare rebate. If you have any questions please email [email protected] We apologise for the confusion and want to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to stay on top of the advice and information given.
