04.01.2022 Dear Parents, It is a very exciting time for all of our junior players as we head into finals. It is a timely chance to remind everyone of the Associations expe...ctations during all tennis matches but in particular during the finals campaign. As the Junior Co-ordinators of our club, we must ensure this information is relayed onto our players, team mangers and parents this week to ensure everyone is aware of the match day guidelines that must be followed - Only players or umpires to be on the court during play (no parents or team mates). Please ensure only encouraging and supportive cheering from spectators. No coaching from the sidelines. Spectators to please stand back from around the outside of the court area to allow players the space to play and ensure no player feels intimidated. No umpiring from spectators on the sidelines this includes line calls. A Player may request an umpire A person from both representing clubs to officiate, a parent may not umpire their own childs match. If in doubt, the player must give the benefit of any doubt to his/her opponent, in particular regarding line calls. Each player is responsible for all calls on his/her side of the net, however it should be noted that a Court Supervisor or Referee is permitted to reverse an incorrect line call. Screaming regularly and loudly, whether in relation to winning and/or losing a point is likely to cause interference to play on nearby courts and may be considered unsportsmanlike conduct. Constant overt celebration directed at an opponents actions or decisions, he/she should call the referee or Court Supervisor immediately. We appreciate your support in ensuring our junior players have the opportunity to play their best tennis in a supportive environment. For some players this will be their first experience in playing finals but whether its their first or tenth we absolutely want this to be a great time for them. Kind regards, Olivia & Annie - Junior Coordinators
