24.01.2022 Less than two hours from the mainland, but another world entirely; find yourself intoxicated by the colours, creatures and atmosphere of Lord Howe. The bea...utiful part about Lord Howe Island is that is rarely changes, and if it does it is very very slowly. With jaw dropping views like this you won't find it hard to slow down the pace, switch off and reconnect with nature. : @lettinglukeloose See more
23.01.2022 At the north of Lord Howe lies North Bay, a secluded beach accessible only by foot or water. Amazing snorkelling opportunities can be found here, with a la...rge variety of fish, turtles, stingrays and colourful corals all common sightings. Snorkelers can also explore the wreck of the Favourite, which has rested on the ocean floor since 1965. The Favourite, a Tuna boat, dragged anchor at night and ended up on the north side of North Passage. The vessel was burnt to avoid planks washing into the lagoon and posing a hazard to the flying boats. Pieces of the metal structure washed into the Lagoon and the engine is still visible on the reef. : @dawntilldeath See more
21.01.2022 Ned’s beach on #LordHoweIsland, simply impressive from any angle. We love this perspective of Ned’s taken by @thephotos.pm it makes us love this beach just a little bit more - if that is even possible?
21.01.2022 #Repost @birdlifeoz Paradise returns to Lord Howe Island! Rats arrived on Lord Howe in 1918 and only now, over a century later, can the local birdlife thr...ive again. The island’s wildlife suffered terribly from the introduction of rodents and other pests, and nine bird species went extinct. With an estimated 1,000 rodents for every one of the island’s 350 residents, eliminating Lord Howe’s rodents while conserving the island’s native wildlife seemed an impossible task. Indeed, it was a rodent eradication project like no other. And now, 15 months later, there hasn't been a single rodent sighted on the World Heritage-listed island. In what’s being called an ecological renaissance, Lord Howe’s wildlife has been enjoying a bumper breeding season, with numbers of the once near-extinct Lord Howe Woodhen doubling. If you’re heading to Lord Howe, you can contribute to BirdLife Australia's long-running monitoring program on the island and help us track this renaissance by submitting your sightings to Birdata at: https://birdata.birdlife.org.au/ Lord Howe Woodhen by @david_stowe @flockwildlife

18.01.2022 In light of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, NSW Health has today issued a new Public Health Order that extends travel restrictions to Lord Howe Island from Au...gust 31 for a period of 90 days. We sincerely apologise if this impacts your upcoming stay on the island. Please be in touch with your travel agent or accommodation directly to postpone or cancel your bookings for September. Qantas will also be in touch to change or cancel flights for September only at this stage. The new Health Order may be repealed if the rate of COVID-19 infections on the mainland continues its downward trend. Please accept our sincere apologies for the change to travel plans. We would like to encourage guests currently booked for September to consider transferring bookings to summer and beyond. This time of year at Lord Howe Island is idyllic. For further information on Lord Howe Island Travel restrictions, please visit https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//P/public-health-orders.aspx for updates. 16.01.2022 Qantas continues to review its network in light of the impact COVID-19 has had on travel demand right across the country with ongoing border restrictions for so...me routes. Adjustments to the airline’s turboprop network in Queensland will see its Q200 aircraft, which service Lord Howe Island, solely operate out of Sydney. This means customers wishing to travel between Brisbane and Lord Howe Island when Queensland border restrictions ease will be able to do so by connecting on flights via Sydney. Customers holding existing bookings for direct flights between Lord Howe Island and Brisbane will be contacted with a range of alternative options. : james_laker

12.01.2022 Lord Howe Island is one of five ECO Destinations that have been awarded a place in the Top 100 2020 Sustainable Destinations list, Trina Shepherd, Executive Off...icer of Lord Howe Island Tourism said we are so proud to be recognised in the Sustainable Top 100 Destinations and on our way to be getting the big green tick. This gives us even more recognition for all the sustainable practises and conservation projects we have undertaken as a small island. We hope this inspires even more eco-tourism and nature loving visitors to our shores. Image: Ian Hutton
12.01.2022 Covid-19 Because of the Covid-19 virus, some things have changed at Blue Lagoon and on arrival at Lord Howe Island. Guests will now be greeted by our staff ‘after’ they claim their baggage. Blue Lagoons bus and driver will be waiting near the baggage claim area outside the terminal. Look for the Blue Lagoon signage on our bus.... With your health and safety in mind, we now require our guests to wear masks inside the bus at all times. It’s hoped that you retain and wear the mask given to you on your flight (or use your own), on the short trip back to Blue Lagoon. Once there and you have exited the bus, you are welcomed to take them off. The wearing of masks will also be mandatory for the dinner drive-out each night. For the health and safety of other guests and staff, we expect the current NSW social distancing guide lines are adhered to when around Blue Lagoon, or out enjoying our island. Management would also encourage any visitors coming to Lord Howe, not to travel if they have symptoms of the virus. Once here and showing signs, a doctor would be called. You would be required to have a test and remain in your room until you get a negative test result. If that test comes back positive, you would then have to remain in your room and be monitored by the islands medical team until you return a negative result. If a case of covid-19 is identified on the island, contact tracing could identify numerous locations around the island that need to be shutdown. Those visitors who are on the island at the time, would need to be tested and remain in their rooms until they get a negative result. Blue Lagoons management, would recommend to any guest travelling to Lord Howe Island, to bring their own washable/reusable masks. This will help us cut down on waste, Thank you.

01.01.2022 Lord Howe Island Board COVID-19 UPDATE Friday 31 July 2020 Confirmation has just been received that the Minister for Health has signed a new Public He...alth Order (No.3) for Lord Howe Island. The Order will effectively continue restrictions on travel to the island until 31 August. Details will be further confirmed when the Order is able to be viewed.
