08.01.2022 Australian newspapers these days or should I say tabloids appear to have jumped on the bandwagon for spooking general public about another doom and gloom in the economy. Perhaps for the first time, I agree with the reports, there does appear to be income recession in Australia. And for the first time, we look like moving towards choosing the correct measurement tool for our economy. Gross Domestic Income is perhaps a better indicator for price taker country like Australia tha...n Gross Domestic Product which measures growth in production rather than income earned. The big question is what can we do to lessen the impact from this income recession? It does not look like our salaries or income will increase in the near term while our cost of living is increasing day by day. Looking at the way property market is behaving these days, if you already own a property, perhaps it is time to do a health check up to see if you can first make savings by lowering interest rate than what you are currently paying. Second, perhaps you can increase the equity in your property with revaluations and release them without having to sell your property to create a significant reserve for future investment purposes or simply have money available for rainy days.
