08.01.2022 PHILIPPINES TYPHOON: update... The US site will no longer let Australian's donate. We have instead added the link from the Diocese to Caritas Australia's site if you wish to support our Catholic brothers and sisters in the Philippines. With wind speeds of up to 310 kph, super typhoon Goni (Rolly), one of the most intense on record, slammed into the Philippines last weekend. ... An estimated 346,000 people have already sought refuge in evacuation centers and about 19.8 million people may be affected. Albay and Catanduanes provinces, south of the capital Manila, have been the hardest hit. Br. Joseph Saladno told Vatican News that with the Covid-19 pandemic and typhoon, they are going through a "complex calamity." Donations can be made to Caritas Australia to provide support for emergencies like Super Typhoon Goni at https://www.caritas.org.au/donate/online-donation or by calling 1800 024 413 toll free.
