05.01.2022 Well the annual rainfall tally is in for us here in Romsey. While we are better off than a lot of the country facing drought and fires, our rainfall for the year came in at 441.5mm which is well below our yearly average of 662mm. We have to go back to the drought of 1982- 381.5mm to find a lower rainfall total, although there were also dry years in 2002- 470mm and 2006 -474mm. The worst drought years for our farm were in 1938 -325mm and 1967 -347.25mm. The good news from our records, if history is anything to go by, is that very dry years are generally followed by very wet years. So heres hoping that 2020 is a drought breaker right across this country and it starts soon, to put out the fires burning in every state. Happy New Year everyone.
