24.01.2022 Did you know that there are Regulations all Centre's have to follow? One of which is practicing regular evacuation drills. The safety of your children is of the utmost importance to us here at Blue Wren. This week we are practicing evacuation drills. In addition to ensuring we can all evacuate safely if the need ever arose, Educators also use these drills to practice basic first aid.
23.01.2022 In line with QA3, our Echidnas have been learning about the importance and value of recycling. We have been collecting recyclable items from our families and repurposing them through open ended craft experiences. If you have anything you would like to repurpose on our construction shelf, please drop them off to the Echidna room.
23.01.2022 Can you believe it's only 32 days until Christmas? Don't forget we are doing Christmas and Graduation a little differently this year. We will be recording these events on Monday 7th and Thursday 10th December. There are different time slots for each age group, so check your emails for specific details! ... Our last day is Friday 18th December and we reopen Monday 18th January!
23.01.2022 The science continued today, but with an edible twist. We blended a variety of fruit, watching as it turned from a solid to a liquid. We then boiled the fruit until all the water had evaporated (just like our recent learning about the water cycle). Lastly we baked it until it was a delicious fruit roll up!
22.01.2022 Last night we bid farewell to our dear Greg and Tracy. You will be greatly missed by all. Thank you for all your love and care. Thank you Kurmond Social for having us!
20.01.2022 Dear Families, If you will NOT be attending the Centre on Monday (22/3/2021) could you please notify us via OWNA or on this post. If you will not be attending throughout the week, we ask that you notify us ASAP. ... Thank you for your help.
18.01.2022 Dear Parents and Families, We hope this message finds you and your families safe during this unprecedented flooding event. With so many roads and bridges underwater, inaccessible and not safe to travel on, we are operating at a low staff capacity approximately 50% of our staff are unable to travel to work. We have contacted childcare agencies, and none are able to provide any relief staff due to the nature of the weather events unfolding across the region.... We request that if you are in a position to keep your children at home, and not take them to childcare, that you please do so. This especially applies to infants, in case we are forced to evacuate. Additionally, there is currently a message circulating regarding a potential power cut in the North Richmond area. If a power cut affects our area and the centre, we may need to contact you and have you collect your children. We do not ask this of you lightly and are extremely grateful for your understanding. We apologise in advance for the inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your consideration.
15.01.2022 It's been a spooky day here at Blue Wren! Check out our fashion parade in the Echidna Room today!
15.01.2022 Mulberry Pie! After collecting buckets of mulberries, we decided to make a mulberry pie! The children helped to wash, prepare, cut, and mix the ingredients. ... What a great way to explore maths and science! At Blue Wren, we believe in the importance of promoting curiosity, investigation, and respect for the environment. How lucky are we to be able to harvest our own fruit! Yum!!
11.01.2022 It was the perfect day for our campfire. Educators engaged in lots of intentional teaching surrounding fire safety before embarking on this experience. This experience came directly from childrens input into the program. At Blue Wren, we believe in the importance of children's input into their learning as well as exposing them to all types of learning opportunities.
11.01.2022 Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's and important males in our lives! Enjoy your day!

06.01.2022 Dear Families, Thankyou again for your understanding regarding our decision to remain closed today. As you may be aware, many of our educators are unable to get to the centre, meaning we would only have very limited staff available to maintain ratios. We are closely monitoring the evolving situation regarding the flooding/road closures, in and around the area, and the advice from SES to stay home where possible. We are awaiting further advice from the Department and will pro...vide an update this evening around 6/7pm regarding the operation of the Centre for tomorrow (Tuesday 23/3/21). We thank you for your understanding during this time.
06.01.2022 Five little pumpkins Sitting on a gate The first one said,... it’s getting late! The second one said, There are witches in the air! The third one said, But we don’t care! The fourth one said, Let’s run and run and run! The fifth one said, I’m ready for some fun! Check out some of the Halloween fun we have had at Blue Wren this week!
05.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day. This is an opportunity to ask someone if they are OK. At Blue Wren, we strive to create a safe community for children, families and educators to share openly.
05.01.2022 At Blue Wren, we believe in the importance of learning through hands-on experiences. The Joey’s used their senses to explore citrus fruits, some of which were grown right here in our backyard. Educators encouraged the children to see, touch, taste, and smell the fruits. The children squeezed the fruits, making fresh orange juice for afternoon tea. This experience is just one way we explore the natural world and develop children’s sense of curiosity.
05.01.2022 Today we found a Scorpion at Blue Wren! What a great learning opportunity! Check out some of our learning in this video! We also learnt that there are glow in the dark scorpions! Wow!
04.01.2022 It began with a story brought in from home, which led to a discussion about how to make cheese from milk. At Blue Wren, we believe in the importance of teachable moments. How lucky we are to have Nidhi who taught us how to make 'paneer' an Indian cheese from only milk and vinegar! Yum!
