14.01.2022 A question we get asked a lot is "Is Solar still worth it?". To work this out, here is an example of a recent installation of a 6kw system, split over two roofs, east and west, for which, the customer paid roughly $5,500.00 (after government rebate) for a top of the range system. On average as seen in the table, the system will produce 24.47kWh per day. The customer currently pays $0.27 per kWh from their supply company. By utilizing the solar for most of their energy needs, ...thats a saving of $6.61 per day, so long as all the power produced is used inside the home. 6.61x365 = a saving of $2412.65 per year, or $603.16 per quarter. More importantly, what this means is, that the system will pay itself off in 2.28 years. After which, the system will still be cutting 24.47 kWh per day off of their bill. The most important thing to consider when buying solar is to get the right size system for your needs. So in short, YES getting a PV solar system IS still worth it.
