25.01.2022 Some pics of the new office we have moved to in Hoskins Street. Still some bits and pieces to get, but it's so much better than our last office. Soli has already found her favourite spot in the sun :-)

24.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Our Facebook page has been feeling neglected for quite awhile now. We've spent a lot of time over the last 12-18 months changing our RMM (Remote Management and Monitoring) software, updating service agreements and rethinking the way we address security and other technology changes.... If you are interested, I've put together a brief "Doodly" video explaining the complexity of IT security in the Small Business environment. The video is about 6 minutes long and the checklist takes about 5-10 minutes to complete. You can view the video at https://youtu.be/UFw13wij2_I and access the security checklist at http://security.blueblood.com.au I've had feedback that some people find the video too fast, with too much content. If you'd prefer a shorter, "executive summary" style, let me know in the comments! Hope you enjoy it. Michael

21.01.2022 For all you introverts out there (or work from homers that need a speed boost), launtel is the way to go. You can setup an account online (www.launtel.net.au) and provision your own service without talking to anyone. If you have FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) already, it is provisioned on a separate UNID port within about 5 minutes! I did this at 8:16pm last night and it was working by 8:20pm.... And checkout the speed....

18.01.2022 Hi Everyone, On Tuesday one of our clients clicked a link in an email purportedly from Australia Post and managed to infect his computer with the Cryptolocker trojan. In that particular instance, it also encrypted many of the files on the server and resulted in them being offline for a number of hours whilst we restored the files from backup. This type of infection is usually intercepted and blocked by effective, up to date anti-virus software, however we do not believe an...y anti-virus product is 100% effective, 100% of the time. Individual configuration options, new variants and newly discovered vulnerabilities can all combine to allow malware through. We have previously had a significant number of issues with web scanning modules blocking access to too many legitimate web sites resulting in many clients not running the web link scanner component of their anti-virus. We are currently reviewing the standard configuration of various anti-virus products with the intention to enable link scanning where possible. This type of Malware has become known as Ransomware as it encrypts all accessible files and then requests payment of a ransom for the encryption key to regain access to the files. Weve read anecdotal evidence that these are honest criminals that will actually provide the decryption key if the ransom is paid, however we are very reluctant to recommend that payment be made unless there is no other course of action available. Our normal approach is to restore the infected computer from backup (assuming it is enrolled in our Complete System Management service) and restore any corrupted files from backup. This is another good example of why you should be very careful about opening email attachments or clicking on links in emails you are unsure of. It is even worth thinking twice about clicking these items from known senders. The best way to check a link in an email is to hover over it and read the real link underneath the visible text. This morning I received an email supposedly from Starbucks however the senders email address looks odd, as does the link in the Print Your Gift section. I personally never click on a link in an email without first hovering over it to see if the underlying URL looks legitimate. Even then, to be really safe, I will often visit the site by typing the address of their main website directly into a browser. I thought it worth reminding everyone to be vigilant about these emails. Please distribute this to your staff as appropriate and let us know if you have any issues. Thanks, Michael Reid Managing Director

05.01.2022 Common Ground is an organisation which aims to aid chronically homeless individuals and their families by providing housing. Their program focuses on creating a positive and supportive community. Blueblood Solutions has volunteered some time to help those at Common Ground Gungahlin (http://www.commongroundcanberra.org.au) resolve some IT issues theyve been having. Common Ground were established with donated time, money, furniture, and other goods and have been having a lot... of success with homelessness and low income tenants. As part of their building, they have a common area in which they want to setup some donated computers (thats where we come in setting them up) for use by the tenants to undertake online training, research, job applications, etc. However, they dont currently have a budget for internet access for these computers. All the money raised from this page will go towards providing internet access to the common area those who need it. Access to the internet will provide job and learning opportunities to many who cannot afford it themselves. Any funds raised in excess of those required for internet access will be donated to Common Ground to enable it to provide additional services As a society we often forget that internet is a luxury and not a given. We forget the cost involved with staying connected. Please donate and help out those who need it. Please donate to the link below! Thank you in advance for your donation and kindness. https://www.gofundme.com/293nqam5
