25.01.2022 These little ones have gotten through the first 24hrs. They have both gained weight. On right from 4.7 to 5.6grms and the other 4.4 to 5.3grms. Still a long way to go but doing well so far

25.01.2022 The bobtail that came to us a few days ago with s tsil injury and puncture wounds had an xray today and has s couple of broken ribs but thankfully no other internal injuries. We expect him to make a full recovery with rest, good pain relief and antibiotics for his tail wound.

24.01.2022 https://www.facebook.com/1607299122637826/photos/1631764830191255/ If you would like to know more about these wonderful echidnas, visit EchidnaCSI, lots of information. Also a timely reminder from EchidnaCSI below, to check pouches of deceased echidnas ... What's next for echidna breeding? Breeding season now comes to an end for echidnas this year, but you know what that means? Puggles! Over the past couple of months, echidnas would be laying eggs and the little hatchling puggles will be in their mothers pouches and then placed into nursery burrows. A reminder to not relocate echidnas, especially from now til early next year, as they need to find their way back to their young after they place them in a nursery burrow. It is also extra important that if you come across a deceased echidna (such as roadkill) to check if it has any young in its pouch. If you do find live young then call your local wildlife rescue for advice on where to take or how to care for it, if you find a deceased juvenile echidna we would appreciate if you could call us immediately. Any deceased echidna is certainly a loss, but they can also provide us with valuable data and material to further aid in our understanding of their unusual biology and our conservation efforts.

24.01.2022 Little euro, now named Lottie, came in yesterday. She has settled well, taking her formula and gained 9grms which is very good this early on.She has met Maya who another euro we have in care.

23.01.2022 Three different kangaroo noses. One of the things that helps with identification of the species in our area. There are many other indicators too.

23.01.2022 The days are getting warmer, please remember to put out some water for our wildlife. Various sizes of containers at different levels will ensure everyone is catered for. Pop a stone or a stick in the bowl so the little critters can get out should they fall in

22.01.2022 Another great day, the bobtail with the tail injury has gone home after 4 weeks of care. These two little girls were thrilled to let him go back into their garden. Such a great outcome

22.01.2022 UPDATE on Wilara, she had a vet check and all is well and she's progressing well. This is little Wilara and she is going well. She is down near Perth with my friend who is helping us out as we are so busy. She will come back up before she reaches 5kgs Thank you Lyn for helping out

22.01.2022 So hot here 44.1degs. Maya just lay on top of her pouch and the wild raven getting s shower from the aviary soaker.

21.01.2022 Three of the Bluebush red guys with our carer at Paynes Find. Bluey showing off his muscles already, Polly and Opal. Bagfuls of mischief for Kathrin, but so adorable

21.01.2022 A new little male western grey joins our Bluebush family. He was with a family who shot Mum and felt it was ok to let this little chap out in the garden with the pets etc for a week. He has sore blistered feet, underweight, has pneumonia and possibly other problems will come to light in time. Fortunately he was handed over and after 5 days with another carer he has come to Bluebush. Please, please don't try to raise a joey yourself. They need specialised care and nutrition. This little chap may not survive this but we will support him as best we can. He is a dear little chap but his eyes are so sad.

21.01.2022 Double votes this weekend guys. Please vote for Bluebush

21.01.2022 This is little Lottie who came from Mt Magnet. She is growing well 550grms. No external heat for a while now.

20.01.2022 If you missed this delightful program you can watch it on iview, you wont regret it https://iview.abc.net.au/show/quoll-farm

19.01.2022 Busy times 3rd joey in 2 days. This little chap weighs in at 2.730kgs. He lost his Mum and you can see the sadness in his eyes.

19.01.2022 The Buntine mob

19.01.2022 To our followers in the Perth metro area, please share this with your friends and family. If you come across a featherless fledgling please take it to your nearest local wildlife shelter

18.01.2022 It's that time of year when baby birds are leaving the nest. We have had a few calls regarding baby birds on the ground. Here is a flow chart that be of help if you find a youngster on the ground

18.01.2022 Hi everyone, to help us with our ongoing costs in rehabilitating the native wildlife that come into our care, please vote for us.

17.01.2022 Not all our stories are good news. Sadly the bobtail that had been picked up by a dog has a spinal fracture. He has now been euthanized.

15.01.2022 Little Wilara has gained 13grms in 24hrs. She is almost rehydrated and is a little fighter

12.01.2022 This is little Maya who my hubbie Steve rescued from her dead mum on Oct 12th. She was 537grms. The second picture is her today at 1.1kgs. A little cutie

12.01.2022 Today was a very special day at Bluebush. Today we opened the pre release pen gates to give our big guys their freedom. It was extra special because our 'Bluebush Burns Boy Jack' was part of the mob. He came to us Dec 20th 2019 with significant burns to his feet, tail and ears from the Yanchep/Two Rocks fires. He is one of the few that has made it to release. Thank you to my daughter Bex Rose who came to help give them their final treat of a bottle so we could give them one last check over before the gates were opened. We have set up 2 motion cameras to hopefully catch the time they all decide to leave. There will be updates as pictures come in off the cameras

12.01.2022 Second joey of the day. One of our members rescued her from her dead Mums pouch near Yanchep. Great rescue Carmel. Thanks to Bex for organising getting her to a carer down there. Thanks Lyn Manuel for taking her. Looks like a bruise on her left arm so she will be vet checked

12.01.2022 Both of the bobtails with tail injuries have now been released back where they came from in Watheroo near the school. Thank you to Tim, Anita and boys in your help with rescuing and releasing these two beauties. Unmistakable now with their square ended tails

11.01.2022 Little Joseph had his injured feet reviewed by the vet yesterday and we are hoping he will make a full recovery. He will need to have them debrided in a week or so. He is feeling much happier in himself now.

11.01.2022 Bobtail admission today following dog attack. 3 puncture wounds located so far and problems with left back leg. Medicated and for vet review and xray on Wednesday. Thank you to the lovely lady that rescued him.

11.01.2022 Little Jaffa beginning to feel more secure. They go through such trauma when they loose their Mum. It takes a while to gain their trust and for them to feel comfortable with you

11.01.2022 Monty is still very weak but he's trying hard to survive. He is on 2 types of antibiotic for his pneumonia which unfortunately upsets his gut. Despite this he has gained 50grms. Thank you to Hannah at Wheatbelt vet Jurien Bay for your help with Monty.

11.01.2022 Please take your rubbish home and dispose of properly.

10.01.2022 It's amazing what collaboration and teamwork can do. This bobtail came to us early January this year quite unwell and had some lesions to it's abdomen. We had been alerted to a disease that was detected in confiscated captive bobtail lizards (Tiliqua rugosa) in Perth in 2019 however it has not otherwise been reported in reptiles in WA. The disease has been found in the eastern states in captive populations and more recently in free-living reptile species. We were concerned a...bout this bobtail so we sent it down to Kanyana Wildlife rehab centre in Perth and they arranged for it to be assessed by a vet at Wattle Grove veterinary practice. Sadly it died on route to the vets, so samples were taken and those along with the body were sent to DPIRD for laboratory testing ( see photo of part of report) . Fortunately it was not the disease Nanniziopsis barbata but Mycobacterium marinum. This is not a bacteria you would expect to find in inland lizards. We are talking with the owner of the property to see if we can determine the source. It is not critical we do but it would be great to know so we can prevent the bacteria affecting other lizards in the area. So a big shout out to Carol and Tash from Kanyana, Wattle Grove vets, Bethany from Murdoch plus my husband Steve for transporting the little guy to Perth. See more

10.01.2022 Please check your piles of garden leaves before burning

10.01.2022 Temperatures are high over the next few days. A reminder to please put some water out in the shade for the wildlife. A shallow bowl on the ground for the bobtails and small critters and one higher up for the birds. Place a stone or stick in the bowl so critters can get out easily if the fall in. Thank you

09.01.2022 Many WA reptiles have and still are taken for illicit wildlife trading. Anything that helps reduce this is very much welcomed

09.01.2022 New admission to one of Bluebush's members. This beautiful Tawny frogmouth flew into the car. Looks good but will transfer to a rehabilitator tomorrow for a full assessment and vet check. Thank you Bex for keeping him overnight.

09.01.2022 Emily is one of our volunteers who comes every week after work to help with feeds. It is wonderful to see someone so interested in the native wildlife and so keen to learn and share my joy. Also, thank you Emily for safely delivering one of our bobtails to the vet for an xray.

09.01.2022 UPDATE, Sadly this little girl had to be put to sleep. She had a fractured shoulder joint and a fracture through the growth plate of her leg. RIP little one Second joey of the day. One of our members rescued her from her dead Mums pouch near Yanchep. Great rescue Carmel. Thanks to Bex for organising getting her to a carer down there. Thanks Lyn Manuel for taking her. Looks like a bruise on her left arm so she will be vet checked

08.01.2022 Maya with little Lottie who is 600grms now

08.01.2022 A big thank you to Robyn and Jake from Lendlease, who picked up this beautiful bronzewing pigeon from the road. The Common bronzewing is native to Australia. Fortunately no wing damage but head, leg and chest wounds. Hoping he will recover well with some treatment and time

08.01.2022 Starting tomorrow October 1st. If you would like to support the native wildlife that comes in to Bluebush, you can direct your containers for change refund directly to us using the code C10287426. Thanks from all of our critters in care

07.01.2022 Our 2nd 3 acre pre release pen is finally up. It's taken a while due to covid 19 restrictions last year and the difficulty in getting people to come out this way but its finally up. Just needs the shelter built and water pipes to troughs then it's good to go. It will be ready for this years rather large mob. Thank you to SPCAI, Jennifer Skiff Meredith Ayan and Lori Scholzberg

07.01.2022 Coorow mob united with the Buntine mob today. We are so pleased with the transition; went off without a hitch (phew). Think we have created a supermob. Huge thanks to two wonderful gentlemen who didn’t see any of this written on the marriage certificate. Without you it wouldn’t happen- your support goes above and beyond. Soon the gates will reopen and freedom will be our last gift to these wonderful kangaroos.

07.01.2022 This is poor Molly one of the recent releases who spent a week out of the pen with Daisy before they ventured back to safety. Some amorous male likely caused these scratches. She has been sprayed with cetrigen so they look a little worse than they are. They do it tough out there after release poor things. She will be fine and may now be expecting a little one maybe. They have the safety of the pen for a while again now

06.01.2022 Two very tiny honeyeater chicks in today. One weighs in a a huge 4.7grms and the other at 4.4grms. Will be a challenge to raise ones so tiny. Warmth and humidity along with correct diet are crucial to their survival. They are fed every 15 mins from dawn till dusk Mum and Dad built their nest in a ball valve of a water tank and now the tank is sold and the yard is a vehicle yard with no other places to secure the nest sadly. Thanks to the guys at Coerco for rescuing them before the truck went on the road

06.01.2022 Some good information here from another rescue group

06.01.2022 It is so lovely to hear that this little chap is doing well. He lost his tail end to a lawn mower and came into care earlier this year. He was released back home September 23rd where he is much loved by the property owners. Thanks Cate and girls for watching out for him. Makes your heart sing

04.01.2022 Only 16 days to go. Turn your empty containers into a donation to help Bluebush wildlife rehabilitation. Use our ID code C10287426 when using your local refund point

04.01.2022 Another admission today. A little red girl, a mate for Jaffa. Goodness it is busy at the moment.

04.01.2022 This Kingfisher has come into care (thanks to the Myles family) as it decided to have a bath in oil. Feathers and oil do not mix. It is quite a process to bathe and remove as much oil as possible while trying not to cause the patient too much stress. Stress is a common cause of fatality to wild animals that come into care.

04.01.2022 Blossom has joined the Buntine crew today. She is darling little girl, not quite 1kg. She will be a good friend for Lily. Thanks Shannyn for taking good care of her for the last few days

04.01.2022 Meet Lewis the latest addition to the Bluebush family. Weighs in at 728grms so the smallest of the red Joey's here. He will grow up in the company of River and Samira. We also have 3 other reds, Wilara, Joseph and Clancy (photos soon) who are with another carer but will come back to us a little later.

03.01.2022 UPDATE on the guys in the pen. It has been a week since we opened the gates and two have left but six remain. We have caught them venturing out but they are not quite ready to leave the safety of the pen completely. We have 2 cameras up but one not performing so well unfortunately. No mistaking Jack in the first photo. They have a few wild visitors too.

03.01.2022 New little girl in this morning. Rescued by my husband Steve and it was his first rescue from a pouch. It's also his birthday today so a nice present. She is a little 537grm euro just starting to fur a little. No obvious injuries or bruising but it is early days. Decidedly vocal as euros always are

02.01.2022 This is the good news we love as rehabilitators. The Tawny just needed 24hrs of R&R and assessed as fit to go. Thank you Bex and Carmel

02.01.2022 Can you help us.......... here a few action shots of this seasons joeys. Last seasons are all up at the release site. In the last 12 months we have spent over $6300 on joey formula, $3150 on muesli and over $800 on bird and reptile food. We are very grateful to our supporters who have donated to help us meet these costs over the last year. We get no Government funding and our pockets are not as deep as they used to be. 01.01.2022 Another admission to Bluebush. This poor little chap was pulled out of his dead Mum who had been left in the road. Thank you to the Lendlease guys again, awesome work. He is a little red boy 850grms. He significant degloving of the top of both feet and a sore right eye. The wounds are very painful for him. He will be reviewed by the vet tomorrow.

01.01.2022 A new little red boy joins the Bluebush family. Thank you to Shire of Sandstone guys who picked him up. He was on the side of the road on his own and freezing cold. A very lucky little boy. He is with our carer in Paynes Find
