BUT, the stance taken by the Australia government indicates that we indeed value the education industry and even more, international students who have come and contributed so much to our economy and growth. What does this mean for international students? - The Department of Home Affairs will continue to process and grant student visas lodg...ed outside of Australia so that when the borders are open, the student is ready to travel to Australia. - International students currently in Australia or outside of the country can lodge a further student visa, with no charge from the Department, to ensure that they are able to complete their studies if their study plans have been affected by COVID-19. - If the international student is currently pursuing a course within the Australian Qualifications Framework and is outside of Australia due to COVID-19, this will count towards the Australian study requirement and so the student will be eligible to apply for the post-study work visa. - International student graduates who have held a student visa but are currently outside of Australia will be eligible to apply for a post-study work visa. - International student applicants who would need to meet the English language requirements by providing official English language test results will be given additional time if the attempt to sit for the test has been disrupted by COVID-19. At the moment, Australia is one of the lowest COV...ID-19 infected countries and have long been a favourite destination for many to gain permanent residency. Investing in Australian education is one option many people are willing to invest in to obtain this outcome. Although the opportunities are there, the environment has changed and people need to be careful in the way they approach this opportunity. 10.01.2022 Some of you are concerned and have asked us if your current Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) does cover you for COVID-19 treatment. The short answer is yes. You should be aware that your OSHC covers medical services provided in the hospital and out of hospital, including PBS prescription medicines. and emergency treatments. In hospital treatment includes accommodation, accident and emergency services, outpatient and postoperative, and doctor services. Most importantly,... you need to check whether your individual OSHC covers All Hospitals; or, Public plus Agreement Only Hospitals. To be sure, if it is a non-public hospital, you need to check with the hospital if it has an agreement with your OSHC provider so that you are 100% covered for the charges raised by the hospital for accident and emergency department fees. If it is a non-agreement private hospital, you will not be covered for most or all of the charges raised by the hospital for accident and emergency services.
