03.01.2022 COVID-19 has already seriously started affecting the Christmas shopping season. Traditionally, the biggest shopping period of the year is the week before Christmas, but many Australians are already crossing off their Christmas lists early because of the pandemic and concerns over delivery times. Amazingly, 78 per cent of Australians started their online shopping in mid-October according to a survey by Power Retail. This is also suspected to be due to purchasing gifts before t...he recent reduction of Jobskeeper payments. Due to the pandemic, online shopping is five times the rate of traditional retail sales growth, and the seasonally adjusted spend for online retail has increased some 81.1 per cent year-on-year. As a result, Christmas 2020 will likely break many records for online retail and the number of online shopping deliveries. No wonder Australia Post have stated 12th December as the last day to order for delivery before the big day! Depending on your industry, if you haven’t started advertising on Facebook and Instagram yet, believe it or not you may already be out of time - unless you have a big budget to throw at it. Costs of Ads as we build up to Black Friday are already soaring. Just in the last 30 days (Oct Nov 2020), we’ve seen costs go from traditionally $7 per thousand people reached (CPM) to $26 and increasing! If you’re looking for help or advice with your Facebook/Instagram marketing this Christmas season, contact us as time is most definitely of the essence!
