25.01.2022 Here is another of our recent delivery from Namibia, rare daylight fluorescent (green) Hyalite opal on double terminated quartz, from Erongo Mtns, Namibia, size is 123 x 48 x 34mm. Only the tip fluoresces green in daylight, but the rest of the very extensive while hyalite , actually fluoresces vivid green in both long and short wave U V light. As far as I know this new find is only the second time daylight fluorescent material has ever been found! RARE. Full pic of crystal in next post.

20.01.2022 I have not done a post for a while, its been a bit hectic here. This is a specimen that arrived today, it took three months to arrive , but it was worth the wait. Lepidolite crystals on quartz, Minas Gerias, Brazil. Gem quality.

19.01.2022 SOLD While we are in this period of home detention, I though I would post a few items that will shortly appear on our website. The first is a wonderful piece of GYMPIEITE, a rather obscure Australian rock. Gympieite is a type of green/blue/grey chert, composed of sedimentary microcrystaline silicate material laid down about 400 million years ago. This particular specimen would cut some stunning cabs, I have always had a fondness for Gympieite, and have to say this 850gm piece is definitely equal to, or having a better color display than anything I have seen before, we obtained this at the recent Glen Innes Minerama, please contact me if interested.

We will soon start placing these on our website. Please contact me if you have any enquiries, or special requests.

15.01.2022 We have been very fortunate to have acquired three ATACAMITE specimen from the worlds best atacamite location New Conwall mine, Kadina, S.Aust . These were mined in the 1860s(See article Mineralogical Record, Mar-April 2019, page 196) Attached is a pic of the smallest specimen. Contact me if you are interested in one of these.

13.01.2022 Bluegems recently acquired a small parcel of gold crystals, this one is from Palmer River, Qld. size is 12 x 10 x 8mm Weight 2gms.

12.01.2022 SOLD.....A recent addition to the web site it this specimen of fully terminated prehnite crystals, from the little seen location, Bellevue Gold mine, Leinster, W.Aust. A little research will show that while prehnite is a reasonably common mineral, it rarely forms distinct crystals. Particularly uncommon from Australia. 48 x 37mm.https://www.bluegems.com.au//minera/prehnite-crystal-rare/

12.01.2022 Here is another of the recent Vietnamese arrivals, Pargasite on marble/calcite from Luc Yen, Yen Bei, Vietnam. This is a very large single crystal for the species, size of main crystal 51 x 38 x 20mm.

11.01.2022 SOLD I hope all have recovered well from the new year season, I know its always a bit hard to get started again. I will start by highlighting a couple of new Australian additions to our website. The first is a fine floater cuprite group from Moonta Mines in S.Aust, this is ex S.Aust Museum, and dates back to the very early days of last century. https://www.bluegems.com.au//cuprite-crystal-group-moonta/

07.01.2022 Happy new year to everyone. I thought I would start the year with a pic of a specimen I totally love. Emerald on Bismuth, from Torrington, NSW. The specimen is in the collection of the Australian Museum in Sydney, and Im pretty sure is unique! Enjoy.

06.01.2022 SOLD....This is a specimen I have had on the web for a while, but didn't realize. there were no pics loaded for it (silly me). An attractive plate of green Adamite, from Mexico. This specimen has dozens of clusters of lustrous Adamite crystals, with well formed radiating sheaves. Ideally scattered crystals over the matrix. ! Some people would call this Cuprian Adamite, but as the color green in Adamite is very likely to be caused by zinc, I find it more accurate to ju...st call the material green Adamite, rather than the (Cuprian Adamite label) usually thrown around for any green Adamite. The fluorescence of this piece is a lush neon green!!. OJUELA MINE, MAPIMI, DURANGO, MEXICO. 83 x 76 x 34mm. https://www.bluegems.com.au//minerals/green-adamite-plate/
