22.01.2022 Angus Martin has so generously put paintbrush to paper to shine a light on Stillbirth. This is a sneak preview of the original commissioned work that will be auctioned off on 17 Oct. Angus has an intuition for capturing the feelings and emotions that arise from love and relationships. Through his figurative art and fragmented shapes, Angus work achieves deep emotional resonance with his audience (trust me on this one!) Angus works have had recent success at Affordable Art Fair New York 2019, Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong 2019, and will be featured at The Other Art Fair in Sydney between 24-27 October. Crafted on 100% cotton and timber framed, this piece can only go home with the highest bidder at The Blue Hearts Cocktail Event.

17.01.2022 My heart has been heavy with the heartbreaking news of yet another baby gone too soon, a family in pain, and of the hurtful comments received in their darkest hours. The onslaught of comments in response to Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s announcement felt personal on so many levels and the story and images took me straight back to the delivery room and the acute pain of saying hello and goodbye to our firstborn, all in the one breath. Of all of the comments, the ones that ...hit hardest were ‘Why did they take a photo right after losing their baby...That should be the last thing on their minds.’ And that the photos were ‘TMI / overshare’. This is so incredibly hurtful and isolating. For those who feel inconvenienced by this confronting truth, you are right. It IS confronting. It IS an inconvenience. One that too many have to live with every day. But instead of judgement and disgust, I ask that you garner compassion and understanding for this family, who never chose this path, who would do anything to be sharing happy news on their feed instead. All I can say is how incredibly selfless an act, to share these most personal and heartwrenching moments with the world. Given their fame, they likely knew the potential for unwelcome comments, and did it anyway, despite their already vulnerable and fragile hearts. The hospital offered to organise a professional photographer to take photos of our delivery and of Bluey. My biggest regret is turning them down. We have a few photos that the midwives and our family took, but they will never be enough. I have never shared the bottom right photo before, not so much afraid of what others might think, but because it has been something precious just for us. Now I share it because this is bigger than just Bluey. This is about creating awareness, helping to remove the stigma, working towards reducing the astounding prevalence of perinatal death, and supporting those who have gone home empty handed. And incase you are still wondering... We take photos because we have no idea what the hell we are doing or how to do this... (Shit, where did I put that bloody manual?!?!? ) Cont’d in comments...
16.01.2022 Before our tour continues onto Sydney, Ill be performing a special song I wrote for the Blue Hearts cocktail fundraiser. 09.01.2022 Today is International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. Following on from my previous post, I would like to shed light on an incredible organisation, Heartfelt; a volunteer organisation of professional photographers who give their time to capture precious memories for families who have experienced stillbirth. Heartfelt’s services are offered at the time of loss; the idea to capture those first and last moments would not even cross most parents’ minds at the time, in t...he midst of all the chaos, heartache and confusion. Heartfelt’s gesture is one of knowing, understanding and wisdom. I imagine no parent has ever regretted saying yes. @BlueHearts_au, @stillbirthfoundation and @rednoseaustralia would like to acknowledge the incredible gift Heartfelt and the volunteer photographers afford us, to thank them for doing the hard thing; for showing up at our bedsides, despite how confronting, how inconvenient the truth may be. While we are still working on an awareness and prevention project using proceeds from the Blue Hearts 2019 fundraising event, we would like to acknowledge that despite all of our best efforts, not all babies can be saved. In recognition of this, we are covering all of Heartfelt’s photography sessions in QLD for the month of October 2020, Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month... because no parent should ever have to go home empty handed, and while photos will never be enough, it is something. It is all we have, and so, it is everything. Please visit Heartfelt’s website or facebook page to read more about their amazing work. Heartfelt.org.au See more
07.01.2022 #6babiesaday in Australia are stillborn. Six babies who are wanted and already so loved. Six babies just out of reach... Thats 35 times the rate of SIDS and twice the national road toll. Atleast 30% of these are preventable by awareness and sharing what we already know - that side sleeping and monitoring movements can save your baby. Without spreading awareness, we are simply letting little lives drift away. Help us to change these statistics now. Buy your tickets now. Sponsor a baby balloon now and help to put more babies in their mothers arms, where they belong. Thank-you in advance. Tickets and balloons via https://bluehearts.com.au/tickets
