15.01.2022 On Friday 4th January 2019 at 4.58pm, Blue Hornet lost its greatest supporter and mentor Mr Peter Bruce Carol Hilbig. Not only was he Kathy's father and my fath...er-in-law, he was also the reason why I am welding. He was a great man, inspiration, and teacher. I asked Peter one day if he could do some welding for me, and he said he would show me how to, and then lent me his welder so I could do it myself. I learnt the hard way, but I learnt the Peter way"! Some of the tools, brackets, etc. he made were mind-blowing, well thought out, and sometimes just simple and brilliant. He was always quick to lend a hand, whether it be physical, or just to bounce ideas off", he would usually catch what I would overlook. Peter, you will be sorely missed here on earth, but I'm sure there will be an abundant amount of free steel and welding rods available where you will be in your afterlife. You will always be my patron saint of welding!
