25.01.2022 When in London , if you want to escape the hustle and bustle ... experience some history , see interesting architecture, a bit of nature and even some wildlife ... Checkout one of the many cemeteries... Highgate Cemetery in north London is definitely a must, West Cemetery can only be visited via guided tour so make sure to book before going... Hauntingly Beautiful !!! ... Photo taken by ME in August 2019 with all of the filters available, makes the photo look rather old. #highgatecemetery #cemetery #magnificentsevencemeteries #cross #gravestone #angel #london #hauntinglybeautiful #history #grade1 #historicpark #angel #treevines #tranquil #blackandwhitephoto
25.01.2022 Funeral flowers are special because they are sent both to celebrate the life of the deceased and to comfort the ones left behind. Both objectives can be achieved through color. Regardless of the type of flower selected for funeral arrangements, the color of the flowers is symbolic and oftentimes more important than the flower itself, steeped in tradition that dates back thousands of years. : Orange is a bold color, symbolizing energy, enthusiasm and warmth. Tones range from vermilion to ginger. Orange flowers are perfect for celebrating the life of someone who showed confidence, satisfaction and a passion for life. : #orange #colormeaning #funeralflower #dahlia #orangedahlia #boldcolor #confidence #passionforlife #energy #enthusiasm #warmth
25.01.2022 The power of music cannot be underestimated. Music unites people, evokes memories of certain stages in their life, it brings joy, sadness and sets the tone. What would you want your funeral song to be? Think about creating a playlist of your life, so when the time comes your family will have this beautiful gift that will remind them of you during this special time. Its a beautiful gift for your loved ones.... Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent. 24.01.2022 A few months ago, a family introduced me to a beautiful poem which was published in 1930 by Minnie L. Brockenreg in her book of poems entitled A Pocket of Pearls. The poem is The Lure of the Blue Mountains. The poem has become a bit of a hit . Its been read out at a burial, memorial service and last Friday, 15 November, a cremation service. It seems to speak to those who hold 'The Blue Mountains' close to their hearts. : : The lure of the Blue Mountains... : Oh! The grandeur of our mountains with their tinted mists of blue, : Floating down the valleys with a loveliness sublime; : While the colours in the strata seem always fresh, and new; : Resisting all the onslaughts by the ruthless hand of time. : When the sun shines on the hill-tops, and the dells are deep in shade, : Tis then the bright winged parrots, and the magpies love to meet, : While the music of the water from some sparkling cool cascade : Makes a delightful symphony of mystic sounds most sweet. : Oh! Who could breathe the perfume of our wattle-scented breeze : Without a grand Te Deum chanting to his Soul? : Or gaze upon the golden glint of blossoms mid the trees, : And doubt heavens Architect had planned the whole. : Theres beauty in the silver mist, when storm clouds roll away, : As it nestles neath the mountains base like ocean foam; : Then it floats towards the summit in a most elusive way, : Until the passing sunbeams claim it for their own. : But the stateliness of rocky craigs which tower toward the sky, : Or the depths of verdant canyons hidden from the sun, : Or the singing of the sunlit streams as they go rushing by. : Are not the only merits which our mountains blue have won. : For the breeze which fans their massive sides and sways their gum trees tall, : Often had carried on its wings a most effective balm : To the folk whose health is waning, and whose chance of life is small; : It offers restoration, and gainst illness works a charm. : : : #bluemountainspoem #1930s #poem #funeralpoem #memorialpoem #leuramemorialgardens #funeralservice #cremationservice #coffin
24.01.2022 Blue Mountains City Council has 9 cemeteries , in which 8 are active . The bush land style cemeteries date back to the 1880s tell many stories about the cultural heritage of the Blue Mountains . : : In this photo , I am at Springwood cemetery located on 4 hectares in a peaceful , idyllic setting next to the Springwood golf course. The earliest known burial dates to 1886 and artist and writer Norman Lindsay is buried at this location. :... : One of my favorite poems is the following from Mary Elizabeth Frye . : : Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die : #bluemountainscelebrant #historiccemetery #australiancemetery #springwoodnsw #maryelizabethfrye #funeralcelebrant See more

20.01.2022 Its challenging to comfort families while maintaining your social distance , but Ive found direct eye contact and hand over my heart has worked well. Though NSW, Australia is now at phase 3 with CovidSafe, where funerals can now have 100 people attend, all attendees must record their contact details and the 4 square metre rule applies inside the venue. The rule determines the maximum number of people allowed on the premises or attending an event. ... IN the Leura Memorial Gardens Chapel only 34 guests can attend the funeral inside the chapel, this excludes funeral staff. Guests who are standing outside of the chapel must adhere to the 1.5 meter social distancing rule. #covidsafe #covidfuneral #leuramemorialgardens #leurachapel #funeral #whenisthisgoingtoend

20.01.2022 Just before Kevin passed away, he told his family not to worry about a funeral but that he would like his ashes scattered somewhere in the Blue Mountains. We found a private spot and had an intimate Ashes Scattering ceremony. When family members receive their love ones ashes, the process of letting go of the ashes is also a process of retellingand celebratingtheir life story. It is a gradual letting go, but it is also a way of bringing the loved one even closer. ,... by selecting several of the most meaningful and memorable spots, commemorating their loved one by retracing their happiest moments. For many, there is no more profound way to honor a loved ones memory. As Kevin was fond of the occasional shot of whisky, just before the Ashes were scattered, we toasted to his life and each had a shot. It was actually quite a cold day, snowing a few hours later, so the whisky warmed us all up. #ashesscattering #memorialceremony #honoringalife #honouringalife #initmateceremony

19.01.2022 My very first funeral as funeral staff for Blue Mountains Funerals was at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in Penrith in 2007 . Just discovered a few days ago that columbarium niches are located just on the side of the church. There is even a historic cemetery in the back. ... What is a Columbarium? A columbarium is a wall, room, or building with niches that store cremation urns. Similar in purpose to a mausoleum (which holds non-cremated remains), the columbarium is a sacred final resting place and should be treated with the same respect. What is a Columbarium Niche? Also known as a cremation niche, a columbarium niche is a single compartment within the columbarium that holds a person’s cremated remains. #penrithchurch #columbarium #niche #cremationniche #columbariumniche #anglicanchurch

06.01.2022 Gorgeous floral spray @kirraweeflower for a funeral today celebrating the life of a 99 year old woman . It is often said when those who are very old die "They had a good innings". 01.01.2022 Celtic Crosses are scattered throughout @highgate_cemetery . Few symbols are as recognizable as the Celtic Cross as the embodiment of Celtic Christianity. : Photo taken by ME #nofilterneeded . .... From www.gotquestions.org Irish legend says that the Celtic cross was first introduced by Saint Patrick, who was attempting to convert the pagan Irish to Christianity. Some of these pagans worshiped the sun, so it is said that Patrick combined the Christian cross with the circular pattern of the sun as a way to associate light and life with the Christian cross in the minds of his converts. Another story has Patrick marking the pagan symbol of the moon goddess (a circle) with a cross, and blessing the stone, making the first Celtic cross. Another theory suggests that, by laying the symbol of the cross over the symbol of the sun, Christians were illustrating the supremacy of Christ over the sun god or moon goddess. Other explanations of the origin of the Celtic cross abound. ... : : #highgatecemeteryeast #cemetery #celticcrossgravestone #celticcross #magnificentsevencemeteries #londoncemetery #highgate
