25.01.2022 Just a reminder we will be closed after tomorrow (Thurs 18th) until Tues 30th April. Renovations will continue next week as our rooms get a fresh coat of paint while we are closed. If you need to collect your glasses or contact lenses before Easter, please come in tomorrow! We will be having a staff meeting at lunch time so morning pick-ups would be appreciated. ... 24.01.2022 At Blue Mountains Optical we have been making some changes designed to improve the care and experience we provide to patients. We have invested in new equipment, including brand new and best in class Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) - a machine that enables us to see the layers of the eye a little like an Ultrasound, except an OCT scan has far greater detail - which helps us to monitor changes and identify issues that may otherwise go undetected. We have increased our exami...nation days each week from two to four. This helps us to not only serve more of our community but also enables us to increase the ongoing care that we provide for patients who need it the most. We are investing in our space to make it a more comfortable and inviting place to be for both patients and staff. As well as a fresh coat of paint, new flooring and improved lighting, we will also be updating the front facade of the practice. Changes will take place to the frame displays later in the year without placing too much strain on our small business - we hope you understand. We now have solutions and supplies for patients suffering from dry eye conditions and we continue to offer contact lenses, frames with a fitting service, sunglasses (including prescription) and a range of cases, cords and fitovers. If you are due an eye examination, have noticed a change in your vision or you are concerned about your eyes for any reason you can request an appointment online or call us on 02 4751 4899 to book with us.

23.01.2022 As our busy year gathers speed toward the Christmas holidays, we have our wonderful optometrist Katherine available 5 days, but only a handful of appointments remain for next week. We will be closing the practice next Friday 20th Dec, reopening Monday 6th January, so please book in soon on 4751 4899 if you need an appointment before next year

Lions Club regularly collect donated spectacles from us, which are then sorted and graded, and are sent overseas to those less fortunate in developing countries. What a great way to recycle and help to others in need! This box below was collected this morning ... So bring along any old or unwanted specs to your next appointment, or just drop them in to us next time youre in town.

We have made further changes this week to protect our patients. Eye examinations and scans will be scheduled only 1 patient per hour. This minimises patients in the waiting room and allows for thorough disinfecting of equipment between patients. As well as this, our general office and room cleaning sched...ule has increased. Please limit to only one person in the examination room with the optometrist, unless there are circumstances requiring a parent or carer. We have hand sanitiser available for all patients. We require that all patients use this (or your own) before and after your appointment. As always, we ask if you are feeling unwell (for any reason) please do not attend but reschedule your visit for a later time when you are well. For those who havent heard, the former Larry Prestwidge Optometrists in Springwood became Blue Mountains Optical in November. Under new ownership and management, (more news on that soon!) but still committed to providing an excellent service.... Open Mon-Fri 9.30am to 5pm.

08.01.2022 With current conditions of the COVID-19 virus in many communities, we would like to assure you of our hygiene practices which have always been in place. Optical testing equipment and scanning machines that are in direct patient contact are wiped down after each patient with a disinfecting agent. Staff employ safe hygiene practices including frequent hand washing between patients. Hand sanitiser is always available on our counter for patient and staff use. ... Max was rescued last week by Anthony and Lisa, but is still a little anxious without his new family around and doesnt like to stay home alone yet. Thank you to our patients for understanding and for all the pats and hugs today! In return Max made a lot of people happy too

07.01.2022 So... who are we at Blue Mountains Optical? The optometry practice on Macquarie Road in Springwood was bought in November 2018 by long term employee Anthony Forrest with his wife Lisa, together with Mark Archer and his wife Jodi. Formerly known as Prestwidge Optometrists, it now trades under the new name of Blue Mountains Optical. Anthony has worked at the practice for twenty years and will use his experience and relationship with the existing patients to ensure that the pr...actice is well placed to continue to serve as the longest operating optometry practice in Springwood. Mark (the son in law of Larry, the previous owner) took the opportunity to purchase his share after taking a year out to look after his new daughter. Having worked in financial services for twenty years Mark decided to work closer to his family and use his experience in business to help make the practice a continuing success. The practice is lucky to continue to be supported by experienced and highly regarded optometrist Katherine Costello, who was previously working for Larry and will continue to work with Blue Mountains Optical. Over the coming months there will be some improvements to the practice including new and updated equipment to provide patients with an increased quality of care and a clean new look to enhance the street appeal. The team at Blue Mountains Optical are committed to providing excellence in eye care and we look forward to continuing to provide the Blue Mountains community with a friendly, professional service.

Our waiting area recently had a lovely fresh update with new comfy seating and carpet, water cooler and toys for younger visitors New hard flooring has been installed in our consultation rooms and fresh paint throughout. A new front window and sign have been installed and we have already had lots of positive comments! It is great to see our new business name and logo out there on the street
