24.01.2022 A few words from Ivar Rekve, status on the Camino (as seen from Santiago) July 13th. It is a short video with a noisy background due to a bit of wind but worthwhile persisting to the end as Ivar was fortunate to record a man singing opera in The Tunnel. Beautiful. Ivar has in his online store Camino masks for purchase - https://www.santiagodecompostela.me/ Note: whilst Ivar can take orders, unfortunately there are delays shipping to Australia and NZ. Send Ivar a mess...age to check status. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMkD-05Xb84 We thank you for you updates Ivar, stay COVID Safe! #CasarIvar

23.01.2022 Thank you Sanjiva for your article. We hope to see you sometime in the Blue Mountains again. Stay COVID SAFE!

22.01.2022 Blue Mountains Camino 5-Day Walk is still proceeding, however due to Tuesday's weather forecast still to be heavy rainfall and with flooding of the Nepean River we have decided to cancel the first day start of the walk ie Tuesday 23 March 2021 from Penrith. Weather forecast for Springwood on Wednesday is a sunny16/27 degrees and... 10% <1mm rain - yay it will be lovely to see some sunshine (and little rain!). This post s published in case some pilgrims do not receive the email notification in time, please check your emails as responses are required. Many of you will be making your way to Blackheath or other accommodation as arranged tomorrow, Monday. Due to cancellation of Day 1 walking Penrith to Springwood, the Welcome and briefing is now scheduled to be held at an earlier time of 5.30pm start at Glenella, Blackheath. All registered walkers are welcome to attend, you will be presented with your Pilgrim pack containing route map directions, etc. We look forward to seeing you in Blackheath and start walking on Wednesday 24 March. Please remember if using public transport it is mandatory to wear a mask, please byo. Keep well, safe and dry! Thank you for your understanding. Buen Camino

19.01.2022 Dan Mullins My Camino - the Podcast interviews our own Margaret and Rowan Bouttell of Glenella Guesthouse..... enjoy their story

19.01.2022 A very inspiring podcast to listen to from Dan Mullins; My Camino - the podcast. We saw Ill Push You at Mount Vic Flicks at a packed movie event and in 2019 Tony Jacques and Graeme had the privilage of joining the Accessible Camino from Sarria to Santiago de Compostella.

18.01.2022 A beautiful end of Winter day for our last Saturday of the month (August) walk with the Blue Mountains Camino Supporters group. There were 34 walkers gathered at Bloome Park ready to explore lookouts, waterfalls and beautiful views and gorgeous gardens around Leura. If you have photos to share from the walk, please email to [email protected] and we shall add them to the album. Thanks! There were 2 designated routes and for COVID restrictions we had two groups of ...10 for the Technical route and two groups for the Direct route. Both routes were a little over 9kms taking 3-3.30hrs. Technical route went to Lyrebird Dell, Pool of Siloam and up the escarpment to Golf Links Lookout before continuing onto Sublime Point then returning to Leura Village via Leura streets. The Direct route left Bloome Park for Olympian Rock with a slight diverstion to see the Easter Island-like statues from outside the Leuralla ampitheatre. The group then crossed the suspended bridge to Elysian Rock Lookout and onto Gordon Falls Lookout. We could see one of the Technical route group across the valley at Golf Links Lookout. Continuing through the cathedral of teatrees and Lone Pine Memorial Gardens for quiet reflection before heading along Leura streets towards Everglades and refreshment break seated on the drystone wall of this magnificent property. On the return to Leura Village we admired beautiful gardens and spring blossoms and flowers. Several of the walkers from each group bid farewell until next month whilst many chose to have informal lunch and beer in the large outdoor garden area of the Alexandra Hotel which was bathed in sunshine. A perfect ending to a beautiful day for walking. Some commented they wished the walk was a little longer.... Thank you to everyone who made the trip up to Leura and to our walk leaders/sweepers including Johann, Margaret & Rowan, Sharise & Carlene. We look forward to seeing you again, many have registered to do the 5-Day Blue Mountains Camino Training Walk later in Seoptember (5-Day Walk now fully booked)

11.01.2022 UPDATE 27/8/20 Wow, the Saturday 28/8/20 Leura walk is BOOKED OUT! We have had an overwhelming response to this Saturdays walk from Leura with 35 RVSPs. Due to COVID restrictions we have had to close off further RSVPs to enable us all to walk at the required 1.5m distance apart (exception of family members) and to get us to destination points within a reasonable timeframe. Some sections of bush walking tracks will be single file, steps, perhaps muddy sections, etc. Th...ank you everybody who responded and for supporting the Blue Mountains Camino Supporters group. we look forward to seeing you on Saturday. The weather forecast is looking terrific for a Saturday morning walk although it will be a crisp start so wear layers. ************ UPDATE for Saturday morning, 29 August Leura Walk: Thank you to the walkers who have RSVPd for Saturdays Leura walk, a fantastic response. We have 27 on the list already and will need to restrict further numbers, so if you are thinking of doing the walk this Saturday, please email us ASAP at [email protected] OR send message with name of walker/s and contact details so we know how many to expect. We shall do up a list for COVID purposes and to ensure we have enough leaders for the 2 walking routes (technical and direct); each route should have separate groups to be capped at 10 people. If you are staying on the lunch at the Alexandra Hotel, you may wish to pre-book a table. Sharise is going to give the Alex some warning to them to possibly expect lots of walkers for lunch from 1pm. There is a large beer garden to spread out and with Saturdays weather forecast looking good, it should be lovely sitting outdoors. We look forward to seeing you! Please refer the Events listing for more details of the walk, meeting place and start time, etc OR contact us if any questions. With Coronavirus requirements in place, please adhere to 1.5m social distancing (unless a family group) and good hygiene practices. Carry some hand sanitiser in your pack. 04.01.2022 This months morning walk started from Wentworth Falls Station; this is the starting point on Day 4 of the 5-Day Blue Mountains Camino Training Walk and it is great to walk around other villages in the Mountains. Twenty two walkers braved the threat of forecast rain; we were very fotunate the rain held off until the next day so it was a perfect sunny day for walking. It was great to see some familar faces but also welcomed several new walkers to the Blue Mountains Camino Su...pporters group. As advertised we offered 2 routes; a Direct route and a Technical route with an extension so each walker had already determined which walk they wished to join. Appropriate social distancing rules applied. The Direct route had 10 walkers set off to do a circuit of Wentworth Falls Lake and coffee break at Love Bites cart before heading back to Wentworth Falls Village and the Conservation Hut, along the Nature Trail and return to WWF village with a detour at St Francis Xaviers the Catholic Church in Day Street, where there is a grotto with a Madonna. This route is flat, a distance of approx 11kms and taking 3.30hrs including breaks. As a note of an interesting Spanish connection; Francis Xavier was born in 1506, in Xavier Castle, located near Sangesa, in the kingdom of Navarre (part of present-day Spain). For the Technical route with an extension, there were 12 walkers making their way to the Conservation Hut via Shortcut Track, Empress Falls from above to Lillians Bridge Track. From here the group split with 8 heading to Edinburgh Castle Rock and 4 walkers continuing onto Inspiration Point, towards Leura (involved a lot more steps down and back up) before returning to Wentworth Falls village. The Technical routes were 9 and 14kms and taking 3 and 5 hrs respectively. Great Wentworth Falls walks to share and enjoy; there were many stunning views, almost Springtime flowers, sounds of lots of birds, lake views, waterfalls (Technical route) and creek crossings and for again for the Technical route, lots and lots of steps down and back up. Enjoyable company and lots of Camino chatter. Lots of smiles and lovely feedback from those who joined us today. Thank you all for participating! Due to the unavailability of Glenella Guesthouse and cancellation of our usual 2pm Caminoi Meetup, some walkers decided to have a casual lunch at the Grand View Hotel and enjoy the sunshine in the outside garden area. Thank you to all the walk leaders and sweepers; Tony & Johann, Margaret & Rowan, Sharise & Carlene for their respective walk routes.

04.01.2022 Check out Dan Mullins live now for Casa Susi. Enjoy the gig and make a donation to Casa Susi if you can.

From CCCG November newsletter - "The Blue Mountains Camino Group invited us on a 5 day pilgrimage from Penrith to Blackheath. We joined members from the Sydney and Blue M...ountains groups, sharing a Camino experience of deep conversations, laughter and meals surrounded by the beauty of the Blue Mountains. In the spirit of the Camino we acknowledged the pilgrim's inner journey as we listened carefully to each others' stories, or walked in the silence that left the day-to-day busy-ness behind, to find our own spiritual rejuvenation." It was a pleasure and fun hosting members of the CCCG and other pilgrims for the October Blue Mountains Camino Training Walk.
