Here is some tips we posted a few weeks back about building a Timber Deck.... There are multiple ways to set out decking boards. I have found this to be the most effective for time and precision. Here’s a quick rundown. 1. Calculate running board measurements. Mark every 5th board. 2. Cut and place boards on marks, over hang all boards past external beams and ensure boards running into pool are left long. This allows enough room to track cut in boarder pieces at the end. 3. String centers of all joists, then fix every 5th board to line to keep straight. Put a light pencil mark on each board. 4. Remove string lines, and fill in-between each bay you have set out. Pack or wedge each board, use a level on each pencil mark to get your screw lines strait. 5. Track saw the boarders in and areas surrounding the pool, this ensures that your boarder boards fit perfect with no gaps.

Once completed, this beautiful multi-level deck will surround a plunge pool and finish with a set of stairs leading into the back yard. For this we use a 140mm spotted gum decking board....
