The first is about the place where used to be shelter of tigers. Another explanation is that the sound of water flowing in the cave is like the roar of a tiger. From the town of Cao Bang, the car follows the 60km-long road to Trung Khanh town and another 29km to Nguom Ngao cave in Gun village at Dam Thuy commune. In this iternity, we cross Ma Phuc and Khau Lieu mountain passes. Before entering the cave, we have to cross a canyon that has been built in steps to make it easy to travel and a distance of more than 700 meters through a valley. We see fields surrounding by limestone mountains on both sides of the canyon. In 1921, the Cave was discovered by the French. However, it was not until later that Nguom Ngao cave was put into spontaneous exploitation. Since 1994, local people have started taking tourists to visit the cave by road and by boat. It is more well known and attracts crowds after the Royal Cave Association survey of 1995. In 2003, the Government built a main way for visitors to visit many nooks and crannies in the cave. According to a survey by the Royal British Cave Association, Nguom Ngao Cave is about 2,144 m long, with three main gates: Nguom Ngao, Nguom Lom and Ban Thuon.
