21.01.2022 DEREK NASH LIVE FROM THE 606 CLUB 606 Club via Livestream Derek Nash - sax; Graham Harvey- piano; Phil Mulford - bass; Mike Bradley - drums DATE: SATURDAY 18 J...ULY 2020 TIME: 8:00pm - 9:15pm DEREK NASH Saxophonist Derek Nash is perhaps best known as one of the featured saxophonists with the Jools Holland Band, leader of the enormously successful Sax Appeal and co-leader of the funk/groove outfit Protect the Beat. An experienced musician of many years standing his muscular, fluent, modern jazz playing has been recognised with numerous awards, including Best Jazz Ensemble and Best Jazz CD as well as being voted one of the top 5 saxophonists in the country. Derek’s latest recording with his Acoustic Quartet, You’ve Got to Dig it to Dig it, you Dig? is garnering avid, five-star reviews, as well as airplay on Jamie Cullum’s BBC Radio 2 programme. And if all that wasn’t enough he is also highly regarded as a recording engineer, producer and arranger, with a client list that includes Annie Lennox, Alison Moyet, Lulu, Kylie Minogue, David Sanborn and Martha Reeves. Tonight Derek is bringing his great, swinging, rhythm section to the Club that features Graham Harvey (Dave O'Higgins, Stacey Kent)-piano, Phil Mulford (Take That, Will Young, Chaka Khan)-bass and Mike Bradley (Natalie Cole, Rick Astley)-drums. 17.01.2022 Throwing it back to the 2016 Megève Blues Festival with this one here I am singing a song from one of the greats and one of my personal favorite bluesmen, Mr. ...Son House. This song has always meant a lot to me personally, and I always try to make that passion come through when I sing it. Check out my performance of Death Letter Blues on my Live Videos YouTube playlist, and be sure to subscribe to the channel while you’re there: youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnv0_WoQ6jzqKAT4CIlBC3BNJDm0q77Z3 Also want to give big thanks to Luc Leblond at Griffon Production for shooting and sharing this great footage at the festival.

17.01.2022 We regret to advise that the 2021 Port Fairy Folk Festival will not go ahead over the March long weekend. Health and safety are paramount for everyone involved ...in putting on and enjoying our Festival. With the 2021 event on pause, we will focus our energies on producing a truly wonderful Port Fairy Folk Festival experience in 2022. We can’t wait to see you there. The Port Fairy Folk Festival Committee extends its support to the live music industry across Australia and to all those who have been severely impacted by this pandemic, as we work together to preserve the future of major festivals, events and cultural activities. The 45th Port Fairy Folk Festival will take place on 11-14 March 2022.

17.01.2022 Victoria's live music scene has taken a hit this year due to coronavirus, and I know how tough it has been for many venues across the state. Earlier this year, ...I met with Erin and Nick from Soundbar in Capel Sound who outlined the trouble their industry was having. More importantly, I heard from them directly about what was needed to support a business like theirs during this pandemic. This week, I was so happy to be able to inform both Soundbar and Pig And Whistle Tavern, Main Ridge that they'd been successful in the Live Music Venues Program to get them through the other side of this pandemic. The hospitality and live music industries have been some of the hardest hit over the course of this pandemic, but I hope this Government support will go a little way into helping them get through the year and prepare to host live music as soon as possible.
