23.01.2022 It's RU OK?DAY today. Have you asked someone if they're OK? Here are some tips to help you through the tough conversations.

23.01.2022 Many parents prioritise their children’s needs over their own. And sometimes, this is necessary. But remember, looking after yourself helps you to look after your family. When you make time to RECALIBRATE and REJUVENATE, you increase your RESILIENCE. You can manage stress better, communicate more clearly and respond to your child in a more considered, rather than reactive, way. What will YOU do to take care of yourself today? :)

21.01.2022 A close friend of mine has a six-year-old son. He experiences severe meltdowns at home, aggressive behaviours at school and low self-esteem. My friend asked me about play therapy, and while I waxed lyrical about the benefits of play therapy, she showed interest but never booked an appointment. Which got me thinking... What gets in the way of parents bringing their children to play therapy? What are the emotions and thoughts behind the reluctance? And can I help to reframe tho...se emotions and thoughts in more helpful ways for families? Let's unpack... 20.01.2022 Happy World Gratitude Day 2021 everyone! Let's take 2 minutes out of our day to connect with ourselves and the people around us, with love and gratitude

20.01.2022 Brené Brown’s book, ‘The Gifts of Imperfection’, is like a warm hug - COMFORTING and FEEL-GOOD! So many sparkling gems about engaging in life from a place of WORTHINESS through COURAGE, COMPASSION and CONNECTION. Worth a read, especially during these uncertain and wobbly times.

20.01.2022 We’re so excited to show you our brand new playroom in Niddrie! Set up amongst postage delays and mountains of deliveries (anyone need cardboard boxes? ;p) To find out how play therapy can support your child and family’s wellbeing, call us on 0434 728 776 or email [email protected].

17.01.2022 This West-Side Business Shout Out goes to The Whitehall Cafe in Footscray! After walking to our regular cafes and sadly finding them closed or with limited food during lockdown, we're so grateful to have discovered The Whitehall Cafe. With extended trading hours, a wide range of food options and helpful service, this place has everyone's lunch needs sorted! Don't be fooled by their simple exterior - whatever lunch you're in the mood for, they've got you covered. From roast v...egie sandwiches and heart-warming burgers, to hot noodles and spring rolls. The BBQ pork roll and chicken schnitzel roll are particularly affordable and deeelicious! THANK YOU Whitehall Cafe for helping to give life a sense of ease, simplicity and consistency during these uncertain times

17.01.2022 Discussing your values can be a helpful exercise for parents. What values do you want to instil in your child/ren? What do those values mean to you? How can you model them? Please comment below with your Top 3 values! Feel free to add other values and remember, your values may change day by day!

13.01.2022 Please tell us which one you think would be FRIENDLIER or LESS SCARY for kids during play therapy sessions?! Mask or shield?

11.01.2022 I feel absolutely honoured to be able to work with incredible kids and enter their unique emotional worlds! It’s not work when you love what you do

10.01.2022 Blog time! HOW TO TEACH YOUR CHILD ABOUT EMOTIONS Have you ever noticed your child copying your language or behaviour? Maybe you tend to yell in the car at hoons cutting you off, and one day your child yells at them too. And you think, uh oh. Helping children understand their emotions is important, and so is role-modelling how you manage your own emotions. How do you react when you’re angry, frustrated or sad? What do you need to relieve stress, fill your emotional cup and ...feel grounded? Click below for the full blog! https://www.blueskiescounselling.com.au//how-to-teach-your

09.01.2022 Feeling sooo incredibly grateful I could celebrate my 40th birthday with family and friends, after such a strange year! 2020 seems to have encouraged many of us to look within our souls and hearts, and realise what's truly important - for me it was showing loved ones I cared, embracing the small yet beautiful moments and following my heart. May 2021 and the years beyond be filled with healing, kindness and connection for everyone

08.01.2022 What a difference golden rays of sunshine can make to our sense of positivity and wellbeing, hey?! Enjoying a long lunch outside on my first day back at work after a couple weeks off - deeply grateful for the sunshine, warm breeze and magnificent trees. What are you grateful for today?

07.01.2022 Have you noticed that when you're happy or joyful, you don't question it? You just LIVE it - smile, laugh and enjoy the moment. But when you're sad or upset, you try to push those feelings away and analyse the heck out of them! Why am I sad? Is that a good enough reason to be sad? My life isn't that bad, why can't I just be happy? Sound familiar? When we experience uncomfortable feelings, we can criticise ourselves for doing so, which makes us feel worse. We become anxious ...about our anxiety. Sad about our sadness. These feelings about our feelings even have a name - 'meta-emotions'. They add another layer to our discomfort. Weird as it may sound, we need to live the uncomfortable feelings too. To sit with those feelings. Acknowledge those feelings. So that we do the things we need to do to look after ourselves like rest, create, or connect, to get THROUGH those feelings. Sending lots of hugs and love out to Victorians, Australians and the world during these up and down times

07.01.2022 Having a sense of HOPE FOR THE FUTURE is so important for our MENTAL HEALTH . On Sunday I danced a jig of JOY after the easing of strict lockdown restrictions for Melburnians! I especially can’t wait to: - meet friends’ newborn babies (outdoors) - walk along the beach in the sunshine, and... - colour my hair! Let's SHARE the POSITIVITY! Comment below with what you’re most looking forward to doing!
