The original self defence curriculum developed by Grandmasters Carlos and Helio Gracie and as taught at Hunte...r Valley Jiu Jitsu covers unarmed defence against knives and bludgeoning weapons among others. If you don’t regularly train against full contact striking and weapons (albeit training weapons) in conjunction to developing a solid takedown and clinch game in addition to what’s taught at most BJJ academies, including the most current techniques used by the top competitors, you are missing out on a huge piece of the overall Jiu Jitsu puzzle.
