23.01.2022 June and July are known as the Makuru, one of the six seasons of the Aboriginal calendar, still used today. Makuru is the coldest season with rain, ...storms and long nights. There is good hunting of yongka (kangaroo) , wetj (emu), kaarda (goanna), koomal (possum) and kwenda (bandicoot). http://bit.ly/six-seasons-south-west

And we've scored some seriously beautiful weather - it's 35 degrees! First stop? The incredible aquamarine waters of Geographe Bay for lunch and a swim. Meelup, Point Piquet, Eagle Bay and the beautiful rocky coastal tracks linking the bays. 20.01.2022 We've just wrapped up an incredible #instameet visiting some truly spectacular spots in the Margaret River region. Check out our Stories for some behind the sce...nes action, and stay tuned in coming days and weeks for more show-stopping photos like this one by Scott Slawinski Base Imagery at Castle Rock. This quiet bay is just a few minutes from Dunsborough, on the Meelup-Eagle Bay Road. The coastline is dotted with pristine beaches, and our crew enjoyed a beach BBQ at Meelup prepared by Chef Evan Hayter of Arimia Estate. They had a swim then sailed to Castle Rock with Sailing Charters WA. Zak Hasleby and Dylan Dehaas climbed Castle Rock to take in the view. 16.01.2022 Life really is a beach in Dunsborough. The trendy little town located on Geographe Bay is a gateway to some of the Margaret River region's finest stretches of s...and. Summer days usually feature a mix of sunrise strolls along the tidal flats, mid morning dips at Castle Bay, afternoon games of beach volleyball at Meelup and of course romantic walks into the sunset at Quindalup watching last light illuminate the yachts peacefully at anchor. The best things in life really are free. - Ally.C Photography
14.01.2022 Lonely Planet has declined WA's South West the best place in Asia Pacific for 2019... the secret is out!! https://www.lonelyplanet.com//2019/07/01/best-in-asia-pa/
14.01.2022 To all of our friends around the world if you were ever unsure of where exactly on earth the Margaret River region was then this photo from NASA Astronaut Chris...tina Hammock Koch aboard the International Space Station should point you in precisely the right direction! Two and a half hours south of Perth you will find Lonely Planet's NUMBER ONE place to visit in the Asia Pacific region. From Cape Naturaliste in the north to Cape Leeuwin in the south and everywhere in between you will find some of Australia's most highly awarded vineyards, breathtakingly pristine beaches, lush karri forests, cave systems and a laid back, artistic Aussie community that loves life and loves meeting visitors from all around the globe when they come to stay. How incredible that in one photograph an astronaut has managed to capture the entire region, however if you were to try and communicate the amount of talent and natural beauty down in that corner of Australia it would take an entire lifetime. 13.01.2022 It's official: flights from Melbourne to the Margaret River region start in March Jetstar will fly three times a week, landing at Busselton-Margaret River Airport. Initial sale fares start at $89 each way (bargain!) It's epic news, and we think our pals from Melbourne and Victoria are going to love the warmer weather, beautiful beaches, long winery lunches and incredible biodiversity. This particular stretch of sand runs from Eagle Bay to Meelup and Castle Rock. It's a cho...ice spot for swimming, stand up paddle boarding, snorkelling or hiking the bush trails, often as a prelude to the Cape to Cape Track walk. You can see why Lonely Planet named this region Number 1 on their Best in Asia Pacific list, with water "the hue of Bombay Sapphire bottle". So what are you waiting for, Melbournites, it's time to snap up some tickets!
13.01.2022 3,300 swimmers are set to do the Busselton Jetty Swim next February. The historic jetty extends 1.81km into Geographe Bay, so if they each complete the 3.62km swim, that's a whopping 11,946 kilometres total! Just imagine many recovery pints of beer and bowls of pasta that must be!

10.01.2022 Walking the length of the Busselton Jetty is certainly an adventure in itself however walking on the seafloor UNDERNEATH the jetty is an absolute must do experi...ence! Busselton Jetty Undersea Walk is the first of its kind in Australia and one of the first seabed walks in the world to operate without a compressor or air hoses. Instead you wear a dive helmet and self-contained backpack. So you are free at the bottom of the sea, truly able to experience the underwater world for yourself. It's an amazing, eerie, wonder-filled place that just about anyone aged 12+ can come and experience for themselves! See more

07.01.2022 Ever wondered what everyday life is like in the Margaret River region? Welcome to a brand new series where we introduce you to some of the most colourful charac...ters of our community and take you on an adventure into their wonderful worlds! Episode 1 features Sean Blocksidge, owner of the The Margaret River Discovery Co - Wine & Adventure Tours as he tells us why the Wilyabrup Cliffs are his absolute favourite place in the region and has a giggle at a rather strange relationship he shares with Bruce, a local kangaroo who has a cheeky habit for photobombing tour guests. . - Filmed, directed and edited by Tim Campbell Photo See more

02.01.2022 A photo speaks a thousand words...
02.01.2022 Some of the most fascinating landscapes in the Margaret River region are found upriver, deep within the heart of the land. This "tree graveyard" photographed by... @matthiaswichmann is located near the Barrett St Weir behind the town of Margaret River where the walk trails wind their way through the beautiful Australian bushland. It's the perfect place to take a peaceful break from your busy holiday schedule and listen to the soundtrack of native birds and frogs echoing across the water. See more
