15.01.2022 BLUEWATER RECOMMENDS: Majestic Marlin Charters Brazil Majestic Marlin Brazil is run by Captain Shawn Wallace, son of the famous Capt Brazakka Wallace at Cairns. ... Based at Canavieiras, halfway down the east coast of Brazil, in the state of Bahia, Shawn runs the 39.5-foot gameboat Camargue, a Brazilian-made Carbras Mar equipped with twin 275hp Mercedes motors. His international clients usually stay for between four and 10 days of fishing, and most have caught their largest marlin with Shawn. Around 55 nautical miles off the coast of Canavieiras lies the Royal Charlotte Bank, a prolific gamefish hotspot where Camargue typically raises 20 or more billfish per day. As Brazil no longer allows the killing of marlin, all are released. Along with the marlin are plentiful wahoo and dolphinfish, ensuring there is always fresh fish for dinner. The marlin season runs from October to March, with large numbers of blue marlin from 200- to over 1000-pounds, plus white marlin and sailfish, migrating through the area between October and December. Here you have an excellent opportunity to achieve a Grand Slam. The white marlin have usually departed by Christmas, but the blues and sails remain until March, during which time around 75% of blues are between 500 and 1000lb. Majestic Marlin Brazil is equipped with the finest of gamefishing tackle, including 24kg and 37kg stand-up outfits for those that prefer to fish on their feet. By the early 1990s, the IGFAs original logo had been diluted by various modifications over the years. To better symbolise the organisations new scope, IGFA Trustees finally adopted an updated logo in 1996 after eight years of discussions. Created by noted marine artist and IGFA Trustee Dr Guy Harvey, the new artwork included six animated fish in a global domain. A variety of species were chosen to represent the range of IGFA record-keeping, and the look was distinctive and fresh.
