25.01.2022 EXCEPTIONALLY RARE is this stunning Shaheen Tahiti border print sarong dress. In a fresh white crisp cotton with a tahitian border print in border print in shades of teal, gold and brown. This incredibly collectible Shaheen piece has a diagonal flap across the bodice, shirring on the side, sarong style skirt which ties at the left side of the waist. The bodice is lined with boning. She has a removable halter strap which fastens with a button and buttonhole, this can be made s...horter or longer as desired. She fastens with a centre back metal zipper and hook and eye. BUST 34-36 WAIST 24-26 HIPS 40 BODICE LENGTH 11 (measured from highest point on bust to the waist) TOTAL LENGTH 40 1/2 HEM ALLOWANCE 1 She has one very tiny less than 1/8 hole in the fabric near her hip on the right side, I only noticed this in the bright studio lights, this is not an obvious hole at all and I struggled to find her again! 25.01.2022 RED RED ROSES in 3D ribbon type texture all over the stunning lace floral print of this dress. Made by designer Sylvia Rutkins and sold in her Madison Avenue NY boutique sometime during 1952-1959, this beauty is a stunning example of the gorgeous dresses typical of this era. She features a gentle sweetheart neckline with the illusion of an tulle bust feature layer, and she has soft capped sleeves which feature a fine elastic which hold them onto the edge of the shoulder. Her ...bodice is tapered and has boning to maintain her structure. She features a strapless under bodice with the beautiful lace layer giving an illusion style neckline. Her skirt is three layers, the lowest layer is a cream coloured lining, there is one section of the lining which has an L shaped tear - this is not visible when worn and please see the photos for detail. Her next layer is a very fine layer of bridal tulle which is very soft, and has unfortunately torn in some places, I believe that some areas may have been caught on the horsehair hem of the lace layer which has damaged this tulle, the tulle is also on the bodice and sleeve which has some separation of the tulle. This does not affect her wearability at all, this damage cannot be seen when worn and please see photograph attached which shows the worst area of damage. The top layer of her skirt is a floral printed lace which features bouquets of red roses which are made from a soft ribbon. They appear to be slightly lighter on the shoulder area but this was only apparent when viewing carefully. Her lace layer has had several repairs but these are not noticeable. There may be some very minor lace damage however I have inspected the garment carefully and could not find any further areas needing repair. 25.01.2022 RAINBOW POLKA DOTS are in rows of colour all over this most adorable print skirt from the late 1950s (possibly early 1960s). There are a few different versions of this print, some are bright and vivid but this one is a muted, soft pastel tone. In shades of pastel grey, pink, blue, purple and yellow she has gathering around the waist. She has an overall wash fade, but she doesnt appear faded, she just appears soft and muted. She has a generous skirt, with a 74 sweep which is... just over 2 yards! She fastens with a metal zipper which was sewn in by hand and two buttons. Her waistband has been extended as there is a 7 inch plain coloured panel on the underside of the waistband and a vertical seam on the outside, there are also approx 6-10 orange coloured spots on her skirt (see photos), she has been laundered but not stain treated. 24.01.2022 CEIL CHAPMAN - feel like a goddess wearing this beautiful wiggle dress from the late 1950s. Ceil Chapman was known to be Marilyn Monroes favourite designer and I could just imagine Marilyn wearing this dress with some glamorous heels, red lips and a killer smile. This beauty has her white label Ceil Chapman in tact and she also features a Neiman Marcus label. This dress is immediately recognisable from this beautiful designer, I mean just look at that neckline! Amazing! This... Ceil is not absolutely perfect, but if you have some basic sewing skills you can make these very small repairs and make her as good as new, but she is totally wearable as she is! With a gorgeous draped neckline and capped sleeves, her bust area is soft and gentle and meets into a v at the back. Her bodice is boned to keep that effortless structure. She fastens to the back with a centre metal zip and hook and eye. The back of her skirt has a very slight flare, which is also very typical of this label as it combines form and function, it makes it easy to walk without needing a kick pleat. BUST 36 WAIST 26 HIPS 39 (may be another inch here) BODICE LENGTH 15 TOTAL LENGTH 40 HEM ALLOWANCE 2 1/2 She has some elastic loose on the underside of the shoulder area, this just needs tacking down! She has an orange coloured spot approx 1 inch diameter at the back of the skirt on the left side, this is also not obvious. She has been laundered and pressed but not stain treated. 23.01.2022 1960s TEENAGE DREAM - This skirt has lots of social references to the 1960s, including music, dancing, a menu from the malt shop and Seventeen magazine. Set on a background of what looks to be a woodgrain effect, these images on the skirt represent a moment in a time past. Her skirt is very full with a sweep of 101 inches so this means there is 2.8 yards of fabric in this very unique piece! Her fabric is cotton but shes a more mid weight cotton (not barkcloth). She has some minor overall wash fade but this is consistent and her colours are still strong. 23.01.2022 TAKES MY BREATH AWAY with her beauty! Absolutely stunning gold and white floral print dress from the 1950s. This beauty appears professionally made, but is unlabelled and although sadly not perfect she still has plenty of beauty to behold. Her price reflects her flaws which are detailed below. She is made from what seems to be a nylon type fabric that has almost a water resistant type feel to it. The fabric is not soft and flowing she is more firm and static. BUST 32-34 (ide...al around 33) WAIST 24 BODICE LENGTH to approx natural waist 15 TOTAL LENGTH 45 1/2 HEM ALLOWANCE 0 Her rhinestone decorative clasp to the front is missing two stones however this is not evident unless looking closely. She fastens with a side metal zip and hook and eye. She has a matching belt which is in very nice condition. She has two main areas of unrepaired damage one which is just underneath her belt area, to the rear left side plus a minor area of pull to the fabric around her zipper area. Her fabric is quite delicate and can damage when pulled taut. There are several areas of repaired fabric, the main area being to the front of her skirt where the fabric split however this has been repaired and reinforced and is not obviously apparent. She has an extremely generous skirt and shown in these photos with two crinolines underneath, her bodice is lined in a matching white lining, she also features her own built in crinoline. Previously she had a layer of pale purple organza over the top however this was damaged and beyond saving so she was deconstructed and the organza was fully removed. She was then reconstructed and put back together again. Her reconstruction has been very carefully done using authentic 1950s methods. The zipper on this dress was previously damaged, so she has had her zipper replaced with one authentic to the era. She features a gorgeous pink rose print with fresh green leaves and accentuated by a grey background with hints of yellow. She has a bateau style neckline with a matching piping, a ruched bodice with a pleated skirt, she has a raglan sleeve and the dress is very flattering. To the back she drops to a V neck and she fastens with a centre back metal zipper... and hook and eye. She appears to be professionally made as she has a vintage size label inside which says size 15. She has a cotton lining on the inside of the garment from the underbust area to her waist. Her fabric is crisp and fresh and she has some minor yellowing to her underarm however this is barely noticeable due to the print. Every Cotillion piece I have seen is constructed beautifully and this one is no exception at all. She is a stunning white-ivory colour with a fitted bodice, wide bateau neckline and spaghetti straps. Her bodice has a strapless lining layer which has boning front and back, and the overlay is lace which has sparkli...ng rhinestones scattered all over her. The skirt is extraordinarily full and generous, shown in these photos with two crinolines underneath. She has a lining layer, a tulle layer and then the lace layer on top. There is a horsehair hem which maintains the beautiful fall of the skirt. She fastens with a side metal zipper. She has a border of large orchids which feature a yellow stamen and her fabric is a deep indigo (shes a blue-purple) to the edge and has an ombre effect which includes leaves and smaller orchids which get lighter towards the centre of the fabric. I believe the zipper has been replaced during her lifetime but it has been done professionally and it is a metal zipper which is appropriate to the era. She has a very pale area of underarm discolouration which is only visible on the inside fabric lining, it is not apparent at all on the outside. It is possible you will not even notice this as it is extremely minor! No other flaws or faults, this is a gorgeous dress that is a true breathtaker! The cashmere is so incredibly soft, its very smooth to the touch and is in beautiful condition. The cardigan has two rhinestone buttons on each sleeve which have a gold trim. She fastens to the front with a double pear shaped rhinestone clip - I do not think this clip is original and I believe it is a modern clip that is a vintage style. However this ...clip looks beautiful and is very sparkly and goes well with this cardigan. Her bodice is lined with a lace lining and also a chiffon lining which is in very nice condition, however has an area of discolouration around the shoulder and back area, see photos for detail. The cardigan is in beautiful condition with no holes, pulls or marks. The fox fur is a white/off-white colour and is extremely fluffy. The fur is long and is in pristine condition, with the exception of some minor yellowing around the inside of the collar area. The fox collar has a silk backing and attaches to the cardigan with snaps. The collar is not showing any signs of fur loss or shedding. This stunning piece epitomises the elegance and simplicity of the time and yet is sexy and classic simultaneously. She features a straight style neckline with a cap style s...leeve that has exquisite draping over the shoulders. 09.01.2022 SWEET AND LOVELY LILAC PARTY DRESS - the most pretty shade of pale pinky purple and has a stunning layer of pale ivory-white lace on her bodice and an overlay of an almost opaque white organza to her bodice and skirt. Her neckline has a broad triple fold organza effect that stands up on its own and she has a gorgeous cap style sleeve. Her bodice underbust area has a matching organza panel which gives her a very flattering effect. This fabric was hand printed in 1957, and this dress has been beautifully preserved. The fabric is bright and richly coloured and the gold accents on the orchids are still sparkling shimmering gold. 08.01.2022 SOPHIE GIMBEL was a prominent designer during the 1950s and 1960s where she was known to design very high end garments, which were sold at the exclusive "Salon Moderne" at Saks Fifth Avenue. Made from a soft, cascading silk, this beautiful piece is a light cream colour and features beautiful slightly abstract roses in shades of pink. This beauty was a restoration project and has now been returned to her former beauty. As a result of this restoration, her waist stay had to be ...removed (it had been cut as this dress was found as a 22 waist), her label was originally attached to the waist stay but has been moved to the inside of the rear collar. The label is original to this dress. She is lined in a matching off-white lining which is lined from the under bust into the skirt and she features a stunning scooped neckline, capped sleeves and she has a soft bow to the centre of the bust area. She has princess seaming on both her bodice and skirt, and she features a feature panel which runs down the bodice and into the skirt, which also conceals two pockets. She has been returned to her original length, her nylon zipper (not original to the dress) has been replaced with an era appropriate metal zipper. She has been extensively stain treated and there is one persistent spot that has not lifted, however this is not obvious as it is quite light in colour and at the rear of the dress at the waist area. Upon examining this dress in very bright light I also found one small brownish area inside one of the rose flowers which I believe would not even be noticed when worn. She is made from a crisp cotton pique fabric and her bodice has 3 carnations to the left side which are appliqued. She has been laundered and she has the faintest of faint discolouration where in some lights her fabric appears to be an ext...remely pale pink shade. She also has very very minor colour bleed in some areas however this was difficult to photograph as it is not apparent. Her bodice is lined in a fresh white cotton fabric. 05.01.2022 BLUE HYDRANGEAS are the stunning feature of this beautiful two piece set. With a dress in a stunning and very flattering shape, she has a bateau neckline to the front , sleeveless and fitted bodice which has a ruched waist area in a matching plain colour. The skirt is incredibly generous and fill, with the layer of hydrangea organza covering a white lining. The organza layer has a horsehair hem to ensure that she sits perfectly. Shown in these photos with 2 crinolines to demo...nstrate her fullness. This beauty is much loved and she has several issues that must be pointed out, however none of these detract at all from her incredible beauty. - She was previously a 32 bust and a previous owner has added an extra inch of fabric under each underarm to make her a 34 bust. This could easily be returned to a 32 bust again. - She has some yellowing around the underarm area on each side, I do not believe this would be obvious when worn - The bodice lining has seen better days, she has fabric separation around the waist area (see photo) however this does not impact wearability as it cannot be seen from the outside. - The lining of the skirt has a brown spot approx 1 inch diameter which looks like a spill. This cannot be seen when the dress is being worn. - The lining of the skirt is thinning in some places and has mild separation in some areas. Again not visible when worn - The skirt lining has been hemmed by hand by a previous owner. I expect that this dress was laundered in warm water and the lining became misshapen so the previous owner attempted to even up the lining. - There are there hole repairs on the skirt. I only noticed these when ironing. There is a lot of fabric on the skirt so this may not be noticed in normal wear. - The ruching on the bodice I believe was originally a cornflower blue but over time has changed to a lavender purple colour. There are hints of the blue in some areas giving her an ombr effect. - I believe at some point in her past this dress has been made smaller in the waist as there are some stitching holes in the ruching. Her bodice has a bateau neckline with a matching pink piping, she fastens with four functioning metal buttons on her left shoulder. The bodice has delicate vertical pintucking which is interspersed with a diagonal lace insert. Her skirt is heavily pleated and generous, shown in these images with two crinolines underneath,... she could easily take a third. She has a centre back metal zipper and has two hook and eyes at the top of the neckline and she has another hook and eye near the waistline to keep the zipper placard flat. The pink belt shown in the images is for styling purposes and is not included in the sale of this beautiful piece. In a deep black colour, she is made from a heavy weight silk-satin type fabric and has a soft lustre to her. Her neckline is wide and scooped and she is sleeveless with a form fitting bodice. Her skirt is formed with inverted box pleating and the skirt joins to a gathered fitted panel at the bottom of the skirt, giving a gathered bubble effect.... This fitted panel also has two bows, one to each side. She is fully lined in a matching black lining. She fastens to the back with a centre back metal zipper and hook and eye. This particular style was very in vogue at the time.
