25.01.2022 Did you know our lips dry out 10x faster than the rest of the skin on your face? Here are some tips to help them look and feel fabulous Use a protective lip balm, or lip product to prevent sun damage that has an SPF or mechanical shield. Load up on plenty of liquids, but go easy on the alcohol-and coffee, which can make dehydration worse. Water is basically the key to incredible skin, lips and that healthy glow! All the things! Drink up, butter cup! Fresh vegetables ...& fruits are also high in liquid! When hydrated they plump vs. dry out and shrink up! Stop licking your lips! Girl I know! It’s so much easier said then done. Apply a gloss or balm every time you have the urge! Take In quality coconut oil and olive oil, walnuts, MCT fatty acids, schmaltz, grassfed butter and other nutrient dense fats. Don't use more vegetable oil! Most commercial vegetable oils are blends of soy, corn and canola, which are loaded with omega 6 fatty acids. (Most of us have too many omega 6 fats in our diets.) The best balms for chapped lips include natural ingredients such as coconut and almond oil. Vitamin E and other antioxidants protect and nourish the skin. Shea butter is amazing too! Coat your lips nightly, when heading outdoors, or as needed, can help treat and prevent dry, chapped lips. When using a topical acne wash on your face, take care to avoid the lip area. In addition to drying up oil glands, these washes are often drying and irritating to the delicate skin of the lips. Check your vitamin intake! Ensure you’re getting enough iron, vitamin B, Biotin, & B12! Put your finicky, picking fingers away & pull out the exfoliator. No matter how tempting it may be, do not pick at your lips. It won't end well girl. Instead, use a gentle exfoliating lip scrub to remove dead skin. Exfoliating is a huge deal for your lips & should be done on a regular basis!
